The hammer striking, would it help if the hammer face had some chisel marks to begin the head spread.

"We do read them, and we will get round to it eventually..." I can vouch for that. I made a suggestion and within a week it was on the channel (Top 5 Blacksmith's Tongs). Another great vid but one suggestion if I may; if you put the cross on first then you could line up the punch with the intersection. Possibly a tad more accurate than trying to centre the cross over the hole.
