Yes Troy, if the cocktail sauce doesn't have enough horseradish to take your breath away when you eat it......it's not made right! LOL Thanks for watching!
Larry, fried oysters and fried clams have become my personal holy grails. People here in the midwest don't prize them as they do near the coast. But I'm obsessed with them! If I can find the shucked oysters, then I'm home free because your recipe shows exactly how easy they are to prepare! Thanks so much for showing us! Much appreciated! -- John
Same here! I moved from Louisiana to Wisconsin five years ago. I don’t need any kind of condiment . The taste alone us heaven for me! Oysters and clams. ❤️❤️❤️
Larry: I saw you mentioned fried clams. We always have some in the freezer. Clams are our 1st choice and oysters are a close 2nd. We do fix the oysters the old fashion way but your way is a lot less messy. Might just give this method a try. You are right about cooking them too long. At almost $30 a quart you better set a timer. More than 50 seconds on clams and they are ruined. Another great video! Short, sweet and to the point. Bernard
Larry you outdid yourself my friend. I love fried oysters and after watching this video I have to make a trip to the boathouse for a few. Aieee! Thanks my friend.
Thanks so much, bro! Fried Oysters get such a bad rap from so-called "connoisseurs," but I love oysters any way they come, (raw, in soups/stews, in stuffing, etc.) and fried oysters are absolutely delicious!!! Preferences are preferences, but if you love the shellfish, you love the shellfish.
Larry, Larry, Larry!!!!!! This is beyond awesome :) I need to try this for sure. A "BIG" thumbs up. Thanks for the heads up NOT to drain on paper towels. Right into my CULINARY playlist. ROCK ON!!!!!
Was looking for a simple and quick recipe came across this one. Was my first time even cooking oysters and they was a hit at thanksgiving dinner today. Great recipe thanks
I bought a bushel of Florida Cedar Key Oysters this past weekend, ate a bunch raw on the half shell, couple dozen Rockefeller style. Next day we shuck up the remaining oysters and fried them up with a recipe very similar to yours. Lots of Beer was consumed, as per Florida law, Oysters must be served with BEER (at least that is what I told my wife)!
Wow and this is Oyster Season too (months that end in 'R') Have you checked in a Super Walmart? They have them all the time here in Va., but so does every grocery store so it maybe a regional thing. Thanks for watching Dave, hope you find some oysters soon! If you can't find them soon, you can get them online, cost a little more but.....use the code WP12 at checkout for $12 off if you decide to order! www.ilovecrabs.com/clams/md-local-shucked.html
Thanks, I appreciate your help...I finally found some today at an IGA grocery store....twenty bucks for 12 ounces, but when we got to the checkout they were only ten dollars and a expiration date of Oct 15 so we got lucky and going back Sunday to get some more....I like to buy online so I will try your ilovecrabs.com next time....Thanks so much for the info.....Take care....God Bless
Nice cook Larry, those Oysters looked awesome..a nice poor mans cocktail sauce 50/50 blend of horseradish and ketchup a meal in it self.nice and simple.
Your way is really the BEST way to do seafood......simple is always better with seafood. Old Bay is a staple around here in the Chesapeake Bay area.......it's eaten on EVERYTHING! LOL You either love it or hate it! Thank you for watching! Larry
***** I love your videos, i've had Old Bay on Steaks and Chicken, but never Seafood i'll certainly give it a try because Oysters are my favorite. Thank you for posting.

I should be fine. I'm the son of a retired chef so I think I got this. Hey are you on Facebook. I have a small cooking group I'd love to have a celebrity like you in the group
Ha!! I'd love to join your cooking group and I'm really flattered you consider me a 'celebrity'! But, I'm just an average Joe that loves to cook! Please let me know your group name! There is also a Wolfe Pit FB page if you're interested, I'd love to see how your oysters turn out and how you like them! Please feel free to post lost of pictures! Larry
Please enlighten me, I have only seen the pre-shucked ones in the meat/fish counters at the market. I'm pretty sure they arent freshly shucked (I live in NY State). Can I do this using those?
I used to love fried oysters, also soft shell crab, but I worked at a seafood restaurant for over 6 years. Needless to say I will more than likely never eat seafood AGAIN.
They're not still slimy at all after they're fried. They have a soft 'spongelike' texture on the inside after they're fried. If you decide to try them, fry one the way I showed. If you don't like the texture, fry the rest for an additional 2-3 minutes. Some people prefer them fried 'hard'. Thanks for watching. Larry
Only time I eat fried oysters are at the buffet calabash bars at the beach. I tried them locally. I liked them, but the lady didn't. She won't touch anything other than calabash. Maybe I can try these. Thanks, Larry!
Markus, I'm very familiar with Calabash style fried seafood from growing up on the NC coast. If you want to make these Calabash style, omit the Old Bay and simply use salt and pepper. Let me know how you like them! Thanks for watching!
