I don’t know about humid environments, but in drier heat gardening in wet clothing or with wet hair keeps me cooler. I wear hiking shirts, pants and a hat which are made out of synthetic fabrics that breathe. It’s been over 90F all week.

You are very fortunate to have drier heat, although I realize it’s still hot regardless. 🫠 And yes, wet clothing and humid weather don’t mix well…although that’s exactly what my dry clothes turn into after gardening. Thanks for sharing what’s working for you! 👍🌞

Thanks Joyce! And I totally agree with you - if our gardens don’t look their best right now, it’s just fine! 🙂 Stay cool! 🐝🌸

Stating where you garden gives context to ...... ........everything.

Thanks for the reminder Susan! I garden in zone 7, southern New Jersey near the shore. I usually mention it on my videos and list it in their descriptions but neglected to do both of those here. I appreciate your feedback! 🙂

Great video!!! I would like to add a couple of tips for cooling off which will seem crazy but tried and true!! If it’s super hot, drink hot beverages. As soon as you swallow them and breathe, you will actually breathe in cold air which cools you off instantly and also try to take a hot shower or hot at the end because as soon as you get out of the stall, you will be greeted by really cold air and that is the best feeling in the world. Cool showers make you sweat more and within minutes of getting out. Thank you for the wonderful tips and you’ll have to tell me if hot tea or coffee work for you…… it is the best feeling ever!! Even after weeding! 😂

I totally disagree. If that works for you, though, then go for it.

@@willaerley7140 Yeah, I drink a hot beverage when I'm cold and it warms me. It actually warms your temp a bit, temporarily. Drinking something hot when you're in the heat and hot will cause you to sweat more which may cool you off a bit but I'm not interested in more sweat! lol

Thanks Chris! Just thinking about drinking hot tea while gardening is making me sweat. 🥵😂 Same with a hot shower to cool off. No way I could do that! 😵‍💫 Cool showers work for me, and hot beverages work for you, which means it all boils (hah!) down to: do what works for you! 🫠🌞❤️

You’re right Will: We definitely need to do what works for us individually, even if it sounds crazy to others. 🙂 I’m sure my gel ice pack usage could seem overkill to some gardeners, but for me it helps so much.

@@truthofthematter9409 True. I’ve worked outdoors most of my life and sometimes my water gets ice cold in winter. The next day, I often have a sore throat from it. In summer, a cold shower gets my core body temp. down and I sleep so much better afterwards.

I actually wear a huge floppy hat when I'm watering. It does cause my head to sweat more but the benefits of saving my face and eyes is worth it. I honestly need to follow a lot of these rules but don't. Great vid, Laura.

I have a great garden hat, but when it gets this hot outside, my head must start producing so much steam that it can’t escape out of my ears fast enough! 🤣

I really want to subscribe to your channel but just can't with all the MID-video ads. that just cut off the video. My understanding is that channels can turn those off. Manage mid-roll ad breaks in long videos On monetized videos that are 8 minutes or longer, you can also turn on ads during the middle of the video (known as "mid-rolls"). By default, mid-roll ads are automatically placed at natural breaks in your videos to balance viewer experience and monetization potential for you. If you don’t have mid-roll ads turned on as the default for new uploads, you can turn them on for individual videos.

Thanks for sharing! 😀 I understand that ads (just like commercials on TV) can be irritating. But, ads are how I make money, and yes this is my full-time business, not just a hobby. My videos are free to watch, but definitely not free to create, in terms of time, equipment, editing, filming, etc. The money I make goes directly into equipment and supplies so I can produce the best videos possible. Happy Gardening! 🌺🌼🌿
