Excellent, very helpful. I reached in and put a pillow between the agitator and my nose to avoid punching myself with the outgoing agitator. Worked great.😃

oh, wow .. just what I needed - my nearly new washing machine went through some dirty loads of my sons construction clothes. He no longer lives here and I want to clean my agitator. It has gummy soap, sand, and unidentifiable debris along the agitator blades close to the "pole" part - not on the "fins" (terms correct? LOL) I can clean it inside the machine but easier out. I have to use a pair of tongs to get items out of the washer - I am short --- so gotta come up with a way to get my short and weak arms down there to yank it up - but - I am woman - I will get it done - maybe will need to use the ingeneous strap method! THANK YOU SO MUCH -- relied on you many times over many years and purchased parts through you as well - you are RELIABLE.

I don't make too many RU-vid comments, but this was the EXACT video I needed. I saw several others and thought the agitator replacement might take me 30-60 min with several tools and the cord mentioned here also. However after watching this I went in the laundry room and the job took me less than two minutes. That included opening the new agitator in box, putting away the box cutter and throwing away the box and packing material afterwards. The removal and replacement probably took me 30 sec. Great video on simplicity!

I have been trying to get the agitator assembly out for 1/2 hour. It won't budge. I also note that there are many people with the same issue. The fins break. Why isn't GE doing anything to repair this obvious design flaw? Also because the fins don't meet the base, clothes get caught in there and rip and that is why the fins keep breaking. I already had it replaced within the first year so that was covered. GE should just send out new agitators every year or two because they are poorly designed.

I had a piece of clothing stuck under the little cap that is bolted in underneath the agitator assembly. Thanks to the video I've successfully reclaimed it. I didn't know you could just pull the whole thing up. Thanks.

Does the upper half come off? I see the little hole at the bottom of the spiral but no obvious landmark to line it up with. Wanting to clean it out under there.

Hello I have a replacement agitator auger to replace mine but for some reason they shoved the agitator coupler back inside the agitator. Is there a way to get the coupler out so I can put it on my coupler inside my machine?

How do I remove the agitator coupler? I removed the nut but I can’t get the coupler to move more than an quarter inch. I’ve tried pushing and pulling it up and down. Any help

I replaced the agitator but with the new unit the auger part is falling off when I run a load Does this part snap in somehow or just sit in place? The bottom half is snapped into place.

Great video. I have a GE washer agitator with part number 175D2102 on it. Could not that part w that number directly on the internet. But found a site that seemed to equate WH43X25442 with 175D... Are these the same part? Thanks.

Is that a GE model # GLWN2800D1WS ? If not for mine how do i remove it or is it same as thise one some say it has a screw in middle of it i dont know if mine is like that one or with svrew in it need help

Mine is a bit different, the coupler clicks into the agitator, then the agitator goes in and then the screw fits down into the shaft to hold both. I've had to put serrated lockwashers on the screw because the modern replacements make the screw too long and it will be too loose.

I have that washer with that same agitator. Is it possible to change it for a different agitator model? This one gets all my delicate clothes/drawstrings and tangles it on the bottom of those blades since the have slits. All my nice clothes gets ruined!

Yep, that's what's happening to ours. It rips your clothing and the clothing stuck there breaks off the fins. It is a design flaw that they refuse to address.

Got a dog leash out! Use a 7/16 socket wrench to remove agitator coupler if needed.

I've tried two dog leashes, but nothing helped. there are no sockets on some of the designs. I don't think I will ever buy or recommend another GE appliance again.

I cannot get the coupler off.... any pointers??? I got the screw out, it was hard but i did it... now i cant get the coupler off please help...

You can try soaking it with penetrating oil to see if it helps. You can try rocking it back and forth while pulling up, tapping on it with a rubber mallet, basically try to work it free. We have seen them get stuck so bad that they have to be carefully chiseled off, in rare cases!

This is a GE agitator, it is sold all as one piece.

The engineers designed it that way to keep you from saving money. That part is around 40-50$. Is there a part that can be cross referenced,one that is compatible at the bottom coupling and has a positively engaging screw system when running? I have chiseled out the cap that is glued in only to find the rollers that cause friction have failed. Another washer I previously owned had a removable part that was serviceable. Those parts cost only 4-5$. Surely there is another model out there that would be an excellent upgrade to a failing design. The logic on the consumer end is to either buy a new washer that has that feature or, replace the part thats flawed by design. Is this how the company deals with Jet engines? Say a small part goes bad, but didnt really do anything useful to begin with, do you replace an entire rotating assembly on a engine, or fix the small part?

I used this, but underneath all of this there was one more thing that needed removing on the very bottom and I had to call a specialist just to remove the past part with a mini crow-bar.....wow---- I never saw that remaining part in this video or any of the others either............my model is wbsr3140g2ww..............hope I remember next time.....my washer loves to eat my stuff.....

Yup just said make sure the dispenser is put together and the next clip it was pushed back in 1:40 make sure to have dispenser together... 1:55 WTF the dispenser I'd back to toddling around
