This is a good how to video. It would be great if the order of each part were mentioned as you're putting the blades back on the shaft. Yes, we should keep them in the proper order when removing them but things happen and I had to go to a different video to really understand how they went. Just an FYI.

Reba and APP, thanks for the concise step by step process to break down and replace the auger. Worked perfectly for me. I also found out the tension spring was broken on the back end of the shaft, but the $7.95 s/h charge on your website to mail an eighty seven cent spring was a deal breaker.

This was put back together wrong. The stationary teeth bracket slides into a slot to the right of the open section. If you watch at 3:30 before she takes it apart you can see it is in that slot. At 7:10 you can see it is not in the slot.

Yes, I caught that also. If done the way she did it, the crusher won't work and only cubes will come through. Also, the plastic gate/door that lets the ices cubes drop will eventually break as cubes get caught between the improperly placed fixed crusher blades and the gate. (Learned this all the hard way!)

Don't unplug fridge, just turn off ice maker at switch in back of freezer. It's much easier NOT using gloves. Let plastic parts warm to room temp to prevent cracking/breaking plastic parts.

+Mark S We always unplug the appliances for safety!

+AppliancePartsPros You'll have the same degree of safety by turning off the ice maker, but don't have to MOVE THE REFRIGERATOR which can actually BE a safety hazard. In addition, if your repair is delayed or interrupted, you don't have the problem of food spoiling, frozen food thawing, etc. Common sense isn't so common anymore!

+Mark S Our videos are watched by people with a wide range of repair skills. We always say to unplug the appliance or turn off the circuit breakers. The person doing the repair can decide what is best/safest for them, but the power should be off. Most of these repairs can be done fairly quickly so thawing should not be a problem. Also there is no way we could cover all the things that could go wrong and cause a delay, so your suggestion about the ice maker is good. If the repair was delayed for some reason you could turn the power back on to the appliance so the food does not thaw and then turn the ice maker off, so it would not dump the ice cubes without a bucket to catch them. Thanks for the tip!

I did it without unplugging and turned the ice maker inlet water off after removing the ice maker. But still good advice from Appliancepartspro for the wide range of folk skills out there. Novices should follow it, experts will more than likely ignore it. It took me about 45 minutes to complete the job, and I’m an average DIYer !!

The video is quite helpful. Thank you. I need to tell you something though. There is one step that resulted in an issue with the operation of the auger. Look at video position 6:18 through 6:21. When the auger is reinserted, the small protruding fixed blade of the auger must be positioned within the indentation of the plastic housing. However, in the video this is not shown. What is shown is the fixed blade portion is simply inserted. Following this step exactly will result in the auger jamming. Feel free to respond.

Video very helpful, however, you are messing with food-grade components with un-sanitized tools, and not washing / rinsing (and drying to prevent icing) the bin before putting into production. At least put some comment cards up on screen saying "hey, this is a video on how to replace, you will want to ensure this is sanitized to prevent germs entering your ice-maker", otherwise people repairing at home could just simply not understand or miss that critical part of not contaminating their equipment. Repair techs should obviously know, but always best to just make a mention of it for those that wouldn't think of this crucial step.

Do it this way and break your ice maker tray and ask the video owner/poster to pay you. Wrong reassembly steps, the double fixed knives are supposed to go into s slot on the assembly. Not done correctly on this video.

Our videos are generic videos, so these are just to give you an idea on how to do the repair. The steps for various models could be different.

This video is the worst instruction video I've ever viewed. The stationary teeth bracket can easily be assembled 180 degrees from its proper position. If that is done, it's a major disaster. This should have been pointed out during the video. Also, as the disassembly and reassembly are being done, there is no careful displaying of the two different types of nylon spacers. When reassembling these spacers, you can't tell which ones are which. Horrible excuse for an instruction video!!!
