I have 8 foxtail palm seeds and 4 seeds have finally sprouted, they took over 5 months just to start rooting, I’ve been waiting for so long and I was just about to consider on getting rid of them cause they weren’t sprouting but luckily before I did that four of them all the sudden started to sprout. The other four haven’t sprouted yet but I’ll just give them some more time
@@BananaJSSI This method worked for me with 3 out of 7. But please make a video on how to prepare them. Soak them? For how long? Remove the outer shell? Etc.
That is good to see! I've separated roughly in half your T. wagnerianus seeds, half in baggy and half in pots. Kept bag inside and pots outside the house.. and the ones in bag have mostly all germinated! Still waiting for the potted ones though. Keep it cool!

I wonder what species it is? So many palm species can be grown in the UK because the climate is very mild in winter especially along the south coast, Cornwall, Devon, etc
I've got probably 2,000 seeds sprouting right now in baggies. They're getting roots - should I put them into covered trays now to let them start getting foliage like you did, then later separating and replanting or should I be putting them directly into the small pots?
I've germinated some trachycarpus fortunei and I have a 1 inch white tail sprouting out of the seed. I'd like to plant it, but I'm wondering is this a tap root that comes out first? When I plant it, should I plant the head of the seed on the top?
Two questions what would be the idieal temperature for germination using a heatmat? Is mixing peat moss and perlite in equal amounts a good medium to use in the bag?
Depends on the species. Trachycarpus palm seeds germinate just fine at room temps. Equal part perlite and peat works just fine, I use Pro Mix HP or Sunshine Mix 4 for germinating palm seeds
@@BananaJSSI yes Its some different Trachies. Fortunei x takil, Nanital and fortunei. Will they germinate faster at a higher temperature? My heatmat goes up to 32 celcius.

I know fruit seed will germinate in dark will these seeds or do they need to be under a grow light / and or window? I'm new at all of this but have some pindo palm seeds
You can germinate them in the dark if you like, as long as it's warm. No grow light needed to germinate palm seeds. Once they germinate and you take them out to repot, then place in bright light ./ sun
Looking for a some tips. I live in Texas growing zone 7b. I have decided to plant palms from seed to acclimate them to my climate from the start. We are going into the winter months so would it be best to germinate these seeds in the house or green house, then move them out side for their first winter with protection? Or should the seeds be exposed to the elements with some protection during germination period?
If you germinate them in the house now you may want to wait until Spring before you plant them outdoors if you get colder winters. I'm not really sure how cold it gets there. Here they self seed all over the place and winter doesn't bother them. They are acclimatised to our climate here in the north
Thanks for the reply! It does get down to the low 20’s- high teens for a couple months. Once and awhile we will get down to the low teens in the evenings.

Water once at the beginning, enough to lightly dampen the soil. Then seal it up. No need to water again unless the bag is not 100% sealed and you have evaporation going on
How do you know if your seedlings are dead? Mine germinated but I had them near a vent where they were subjected to warmth but not too excessive. How long should they be kept in the bag?
Question: I have had 2 Silver Bismarck seeds in a baggy since Feb 2nd, one of them went moldy, the other is fine, why did it mold, and bag is not too wet... only 1 seed went moldy? Why and will it still grow?

What more do you need to know? Throw some palm seeds in to a zip lock baggy with Pro Mix or Sunshine mix 4. Moisten it and zip it shut. Doesn't take Rocket science and this video is not a waste of time
@Floriduh Girl I did germinate these as you can see. Got the seeds from a friend in Slovania. Put them in a baggy with Pro Mix HP and wait for them to germinate
