How to Get 1440p with the mClassic on 4K TV 

I wish more companies did videos like this. Seeing a real person doing the changes to the settings helps visualize what a normal person needs to do.

I have the same LG OLED. I hadn't noticed it was 1080p, but I did notice smoother edges and overall better graphics on my Switch with the mClassic attached. With my PS4 Pro and XB1X I get 2160p on that TV. I'm curious why the TV doesn't recognize 1440p.

The problem is there only very few TV that support 1440p...

Would love to see the next mclasic support 4k60.

I called LG tech support and the guy told me that the next firmware update will have native 1440p @60Hz. All the 2019 OLED TVs will follow the UM7300.

Very cool idea for a product. If my 4K TV supported 1440p I’d get it, but unfortunately it doesn’t. If you guys come out with a 4K mClassic I’ll be sure to get that!

I own the LG C9 and it doesn't have native support for 1440p @ 60Hz. The only thing we can do is contact LG and tell them to update it to have native 1440p @ 60Hz with a firmware update.

I just ordered a mclassic and was wondering if I would need an HDMI extension or if it will fit in the Switch Dock fine?

Great job. What can I expect from combining these products. Hisense 4k uhd hdr uled tv with supported 2.1 hdmi, mclassic and mcable, and a nintendo switch.

Question: Should the console be set to RGB Full or RGB Limited for use with mClassic? Edit: After much testing with various devices and settings I can definitely say that if sending and RGB signal to the mClassic it must be LIMITED not Full range. If you use Full RGB then the mClassic will crush blacks making games too dark.

I'm unlucky, I have a 1440p UW monitor, works for PC 1440p or 1440p UW, mclassic can only do 1080p either 720p upscaled (looks yuk) or 1080p. It's a real shame I just spent, well $160AUD and an hour or so this morning moving my switch to my PC monitor, but no joy, have tried all 3 switches, realise it's just the middle option, toggling between that and off, and the mcassic refuses to send 1440p to my monitor.

I have a TCL S405 4K tv. According to the site it does support 1440p, but by forcing it. I can't figure out how to force it. If anyone knows how please reply.

Note: ONLY the series 9 LG OLED TVs support 1440p! If you have a B8, C8, or earlier model, this method will NOT WORK!

Don't you need to use a 4K HDMI 2.1 cable?

Clearly i understand that those limitations come from the TV we are using. Thanks for the very clear explanation. So guys choose your tv wisely and always check the supported resolutuons before buying a TV if you are just buying it for the console.

I have the CX 55" It say It can display 1440p 60hz but with mclassic i can only obtain 1080p.

I have an LG E9 OLED and they updated it to support 1440p 120hz. Works with my PC excellently, but mClassic still only scaling to 1080. Really annoying. Not blaming you guys but it's really disappointing.

Mine is connected exactly like in this video. For the 5 first minutes it worked but did not upscaled anything. Past the 5th minutes it just stoped outputing any signal at all. I do not recommand that product.

Will this work with any 4k monitor? I bought it and it dosen't go to 1440p on my lg oled b9. I can see the improvement on 1080p but would like to see the full benefits of this on a monitor.

why not add a 1080p/1440p switch onto the Mclassic?

sadly i had to return my Mclassic because my samsung Q80T 4k tv dident liked the 1440 p signal that the Mclassic was outputting. it maked the screen flicker on and of every few seconds. Sadly nothing worked to fix the problem. So i hope there will be in the future a version of the Mclassic that scales the resolution up all the way to 4k 60hz. because i see the potentional it has because the device itself is an awesome addition to upscale the resolution from older consoles like my OG xbox.

it's pretty cool, i definitely dont regret my purchase. works with an hdmi hub as well (7-port), not sure if that lessens the effect but its cool. wish you guys still sold the cord as well, could be useful for a one-off

What models of TVs are you using? The center looks like a B7 or a C7, but I’m not sure.

Hi, I have connected the Mclassic to my Xbox360 and I have a black screen. I did connected it properly with the power but no picture at all. Not with the green light mode and even no picture with the mclassic off... Any suggestions?

Am having a big issue with my Mclassic, when using with the xbox pound cable, wii u, and retro tink2x, the picture cuts in and out. is there anything you guys recommend me to do? Are other people having similar issues? am using a 4k samsung TV, the RU8000 to be exact.

So, for my lg86un85006la TV an edit emulator did the trick for the ps3, sweet 1440p. But sadly there is no way to achieve that on ps5. No matter what, as soon as an edid emulator is connected the ps5 only puts out stereo 2.0 sound and nothing else. There are many games on ps5 which are native 1080p, but no way to get 1440p and surround sound. You have to choose, which is unfortunate.

Question: Can you connect both Mclassic and Mcable together to Nintendo switch?

My Samsung q700 8k tv has issues with Mclassic it keeps disappearing screen. My old TV Sony 4k which is with my mom and dad had no problems. Is it hdmi or is Mclassic too old? Hdmi switch also has problem. 🙄

So looking at my LG G1 in RTINGS, it seems that it has 1440p support but only at a forced resolution and not native. With that in mind, this product wouldn't be compatible?

I did all this in my 4K LG TV but still can't go higher up than 1080p

I'm currently using an evanlak 4k edid emulator with my mclassic to force 1440p on my TV that doesn't natively display it. It works well with my nintendo switch and xbox 360, however, when I use them both with my gamecube or ps3, I only get either no signal or just a black screen. Any explanation for why this might be?

My tv Sony Xe93 supports 1440p. How to turn it on this tv? Games like Uncharted 4 (ps4pro) would look great thanks to mclassic.

With my LG Oled CX I cannot see any difference... And the output is always 1080p with any kind of setting.

In the video description says "Is your TV compatible?" and then a link to a list of TVs of 2018 but my TV is an LG C2 from 2022 and then *where in that page says is compatible or what do I look for?,* I've tried to modify the filters on that listing to show 2022 TVs but nothing. Frustrating.

Just got a 4k TV that says it supports 1440p, but the mClassic is still outputting 1080p. Like the LG in the last part of the video, clearly it’s not supported by default. Problem is, it’s not an LG TV, so this “enable deep color” instruction doesn’t really get me anywhere. The brand of my TV is Hisense and it’s using the Android TV interface. How to I “enable” 1440p with the mClassic on that interface? I’ve tried setting HDMI 2.0 to “Enhanced Format” (needed for PS4 4K+HDR). No dice, still 1080p. I’ve tried setting Color Space” Native”. No dice, still 1080p. Not much else to try. Without a firmware update, I might be stuck with 1080p… a hardware switch would have been nice…

If you have a TV you know will support 1440p, like the LG C1 or CX, you can buy a 2k EDID emulator and put it between the mclassic and the HDMI cable to your TV. That will trick or force the TV to display 1440p properly. I can't link it here or the comment will get deleted but just search for "EVanlak 2k EDID emulator".

So if your 4k TV doesnt support 1440p, better left the Switch on 1080p with the Mclassic on ?

A little help here. Mclassic works great with upscaling, but my Samsung TV TU8300 constantly flickers and causes screen tearing and my wii u (when it's set to 480p) doesn't not show any image at all except when the resolution is set to 720p (still causes to flicker). Luckily my avermedia can passthrough and show the image in 1080p while preventing flicker or screen tearing. If I buy/use a hdmi switch to passthrough, would that prevent my screen from flickering and tearing?

My 1440P Native Monitor doesn't upscale my 1080P signal to 1440P.

I have an older Samsung 4K tv. All I've seen out of it is a 1080p signal. I MAY have a deep color option on it but I don't know if it'll work. I'll test it and see. If it doesn't work, I guess my TV just doesn't support 1440p.

I do the same with ghe LG c1 i get only 1080p. i image you can scale up to 4k but i think this is more a marketing lie?

Hello, my mclassic just arrived. But i ahve a problem. The resolution is just switching every 3 seconds i think its my panasonic tv auto decection...someone got the same problem and find a solution?

My toggle switch is broken. The switch will still move, but the light stays blue. Thank goodness it got stuck in 16:9 and not in passthrough mode

Hello, if I have a PC / Steam Deck outputting at 1440p into the Mclassic will it just passthrough the 1440p image or will I get an enhanced 1440p image with all the benefits etc?

unfortunately, my Lg Oled65C7 dont work with this trick. And i dont understand after ur video, you show to us thats ALL LG can force 1440p, or just rightmost LG model? I was searching for solution from the first day i got mclassic.... And i tried this option with hdmi deep color mode. But it doesnt help, still 1080p. I have an interesting situation with the Samsung Neo QLED QN90A TV I have. I can get my Nintendo Switch to output 1440p@60hz, but ONLY if I turn game mode off. Luckily the lag isn't that bad and I like the image quality on my TV. Are there other TVs that can get this output with game mode on?

I'm very disappointed. I finally have my mclassic but it does not work properly in my lg 4k tv (model 50uk6510psf). I can only output in 1080p, even enabling the deep color option it won't output 1440p. Videos I managed to output 4k but saw no difference. If you don't have the perfect set to make it work it is worthless and that was really misleading.

My problem with this is they take the option out of your hands. There are many TV's that support the 1440p resolution but don't advertise it via edid but work just fine when forced to it. But since there is no option to manually set the output there is no way to find this out for yourself. Basically these guys choose not to include a very useful feature because they wanted to reduce tech support calls. This was a money thing. I think it's better to just put a harsh disclaimer market this as a 1080 p stick that you can up load a forced 2k profile to.
