This is also super handy for film developing. You can fish out the film and then partially load it onto the developing spool before loading the rest in the dark

Ive never had this happen, but this is inspiring me to shoot a roll of film entirely at half exposure and then reshoot it fully again from the beginning and see what double exposures I end up getting with the difference in time. Every time Ive done double exposures before I always did just a single frame, not advancing the film. But that usually meant the results were intentional and close in time. I guess bonus creative points for frames not lining up too.

I was about to disregard the rest of the 36 exposures after taking only 10 shots in my Olympus OM10 (film advance got stuck, I had to open the bottom part to adjust mechanism so before that I decided to take out the loaded film as I didn't want to waste the 10 shots I got) I was just about to load a fresh roll when a friend tip me in on this video. You are a lifesaver! Thanks so much, you just saved me a couple of bucks.

I used to just take the film in the darkroom, pop it open and transfer the spool to a reloadable canister. I used to keep a spare reloadable cartridge in my camera bag for such emergencies (usually not mine).

Omg, that’s nuts, we run a auto Noritsu tongue remover SF2 I think as I recently bought the forth set of stainless tounges in the past 25 years and we use the same manual remover ushowed, if we can’t get them because they are eg damaged or folded back on themselves we open them in the darkroom or dark box by pushing our thumbnails into the opening and gently peel it open and transfer to a film holder, I’ve wondered if you can pop the end off, repair and pop the end back on but never tried, that’s how reloadable canisters are

I was testing a New to me Camera, and before I could test this roll of expired film the damn thing rewound on me before I could even friggin test it and it rewound the leader all the way back in the canister (Whoopee!!) this fix unfortunately Didn’t work for me…then again I goofed with the cannister before I saw this video…why do I always gotta learn things the hard way? I mean yeah, it was film that expired in 2019 I got for free with some free cameras but still…Murphy’s Law was VERY in affect for me trying to figure out how this Fujifilm HD-M works lol. Now I don’t have any film to test my Pentax SuperProgram once the batteries and lens show up for that one!!

Even when im dont with the film and want to send it to the film labratory for developing the images? Or do you usally send the film fully rewind to the lab? :) Totally new in business Thanks

What? You mean that licking the entire roll of film after shooting it does *NOT* develop it? I thought that that was called the "salivol" method???? :-) FYI -- I have never been able to get the lick-film-tongue-retrieval method to work -- so I have one of the $5 tools....

Thanks for this!! I've done this with a film that I only have taken 3 pics and I accidentally rewound. Can I still use this film?
@AnalogResurgence
@AnalogResurgence 3 года назад
Yes! If you retrieve the film back out of the canister then you can load it back into the camera and shoot the rest. Try your best to load it the same as you did before and advance your camera maybe 1 or 2 shots past #3 so you don't double-expose your first three shots. Then you can shoot the rest. You will have to shoot the camera, but as you are going past the first three pictures you originally took just cover the lens with you hand or a lens cap.
@dudagranato5509
@dudagranato5509 3 года назад
@@AnalogResurgence oh thank you so much. I'm still learning and sometimes I messed it up. So after retrieve the film back out of the canister, I put the film back in the camera. After that, how can I not double-expose my first three shots? I just cover the lens for the firsts 3 shots (that I already have taken) as if I was shooting them for the first time, right?!
@AnalogResurgence
@AnalogResurgence 3 года назад
Yes just completely cover the lens for the first 3 shots. You might want to even do the first 4 shots just to make sure you’re fully past the area of film that was shot

My trick I've learned is to rotate the film in the canister with the little shaft on top, and put your ear up to the canister, so you can hear the end of the leader film flick as it goes over the slit in the canister. That way you know you are sticking onto the end of the film, might help.
