If you don’t know how to use google docs and want to use my google doc as a study template, just go to files and click make a copy. You do not need to request for editing access because that is to edit on the original and I want the original to stay the same. If you make a copy, it will be just your file and you can edit it anyway you want. I keep on getting emails from you guys requesting editing access, so please just make a copy. I made that option available.
Hello Kelly, I'm from Florida and I just wanted to say that your video is the best one I've seen yet! The scheduling strategy is great, and I just started doing it and I also purchased the calculator and all the books, my test is on June and I've been just doing Khan Academy until I saw your video!
Hi! I am making a calendar like what you did. How did you know what to put on it? Did you just to a little bit of everything, or was there a pattern? I want to make sure I do enough of everything. Thanks!
I just wrote stuff down randomly and guessed how much time i’d take for it and changed it as I went on to make adjustments in the amount after I knew how long each chapter took. I tried to make sure that I finished studying each section around the same time so I did the longer books more frequently or in bigger chunks
She's pretty immature to think like that. Is that motivation? For a 1000 bucks? Lol. You should thrive and want to succeed for yourself. And not for something like money FROM YOUR PARENTS
i feel so bad reading this cuz i know parents would be like so proud of me. so sorry if they actually said that. if u actually got a 1500 honesty if u got over 1200 i want to say you deserved u worked hard in ways you may not recognize to get that score! i’m proud of u! (also if u didn’t get over that same.)
0:50 - be commited - study after school, delete apps if necessary, be determined, don’t procrastinate. 2:53 - be organized - plan out a monthly schedule ( when your gonna study and what your gonna do. ex- practice test every saturday ) 7:13 - books & app for the SAT 14:04 - calculator - ( having a good calculator can help a lot )
I deleted Instagram for a solid month and it really works, my grades went up and I also recommend deleting some games too. Good luck in ur future exams!
@@yournightingale1432 Because of covid and everything my SAT plan kind of got messed up and I actually ended up getting a 1220 which was worse than my PSAT :/ But I took the ACT and got a 32 on my first try, took it a second time, and ended up with a 33 superscore! SAT just is not for me
We basically got 6 weeks to study cuz I'm taking it August too. Just buy an SAT study guide, take practice tests (it's in the book), study daily and there will be a huge improvement. Good luck 👍
Aiyana Williams girl same here! I took the sat for the first time in May and got an 1100. I just want a 1300 at least and I’m taking it again in August! Just trying to study before the day comes 😭
That’s actually not bad of a psat score. The PSAT assuming your scores are from colllege board Oscar out of 1440. I got a 1120 And I was93rd percentile. They said they assume I’m going to be in the 1400+ on SAT
lol love the stereotypical Asian jokes ... face the facts if any Asian teen was making this video you would’ve commented the same thing. Do you see why we have problems in society ?
@Quinzel Sabina With no calculator and without studying I got a 1190. Some of it has to do with smartness while the rest has to do practice (if I want to get a higher score I will need to practice).
THIS VIDEO HANDS DOWN is the BEST thing ever!!! NO TUTOR NEEDED!!! At first, I took the SATs and got 1390 twice. I made a similar schedule as her and did all the problems in the section-specific workbooks over the summer. Then with some practice/tips in the video, I got ~1460s on practice tests. Then in August, I got 1550!
Warlock why is she immature you don’t have to necessarily ask for 1000 dollars it could be less than that or whatever your parents are willing to pay it could also be something like a new phone or camera or whatever just bc your parents aren’t willing to encourage you like that doesn’t mean that everyone’s parents arent willing to buy gifts or rewards for their children when they get good grades okay? Some parents would do things like that and it’s fine 1000 dollars is nothing compared to the time and effort and commitment she put in getting 1500 no one just gets that so easily not saying that she is the only one who can get this score just saying that you should ask for something from your parents even if it’s a trivial thing as an encouragement for you to study harder and if you don’t want to ask from them then don’t that’s also it’s just a reward for your hard work damn why y’all so hateful?
@@rahafayoub9318 Hateful? I just said she was immature at that point of time. Why would i even need to hate her for? When you are annoyed at someone doesn't mean you hate that person dumbass. I also had a 1500+ sat score just to inform you in case you correlate my "hate" to her score. Great for her getting a good score. But just telling like "just ask ur parents for 1k" she said smth like that if im not wrong. And that is supposed to be mature? Come on. The point of immaturity is : she assumed everyone could get/afford 1k dollars. She should have said "ask your parents some money or things that you want". Ignorance is bliss i reckon. She surely was not aware of what she said, but correcting someone for the better in my dictionnary is not called hate. That's your call if you like ignorance too
Yungin Senju I mean, a benchmark score of 480 isn’t too hard to beat, though that would mean getting 960 as your total score. I would just say study once the day before the sat to get everything fresh in your mind. Also don’t cram. Take breaks every 30 minutes because you more likely to forget information faster if you cram
Thank you so much, this video is very helpful. Congratulations on your score! I'm a rising junior and still trying to formulate my schedule for the fall. I am striving high too and planning on taking the SAT in October. What classes did you take for junior year/are planning to take for senior year? A lot of APs/Honors? Thanks again:)
This year, I took US History 1 Honors, Japanese 2, English 3 Honors, PLTW Principles of Engineering (This is my major), AP Physics C Mechanics, AP Calculus BC. I don't have a lot of electives because my major takes up 2.5 periods. As a seniors, I'm going to take AP US History, English 4 Honors, Introduction to Coding, PLTW Computer Integrated Manufacturing (my major), AP Physics C Electricity and Magnetism, AP Statistics.
@@kellychaCool those courses look very interesting/challenging! Yeah I'm aiming for AP Psychology and AP Computer Science Principles next year as well as APUSH, Spanish 3, English 3 Honors, and Precalculus Honors. Do you have tips for time management during junior year?
As far as management goes, don’t procrastinate because you’ll get stressed. Also, don’t stress over small things. Sometimes, it’s better to prioritize and focus on what matters over busy work that is checked for completion.
@@kellycha I love the PLTW Engineering I wish I can get in but my school now only offers 9-11th. But digital electric designs and upper PLTW are offered to seniors.
the black book does that for you: www.edufileshare.com/950d87e4034befaa?pt=ZW5wWVlrOVBVR2RxTDBNMWFVdFZVR05SYzI5NFFUMDlPZ00zZDdaVzFMdk5LK1poK1UrMzMxVT0%3D
Jael Fragoso thank god someone said it. No hate because she’s going places and I’m sure she’ll be successful, but it’s not worth it for me to study for hours and hours. I had a 1230 without studying at all and all I really want is a 1290 for the scholarships
Omg... Thank you SO MUCH for sharing, you are literally the best SAT prep guide ever. I am currently a sophomore with a score of around a 1320 and I really want to improve my score up to 1550 by March Junior year. I already have most of the books you listed but am not sure how I can start prepping. Also, I don't want to waste all practice tests since I have a year left. What would you recommend Kelly? Should I slowly go through the book and master each concept and cram the practice tests when I get closer to the test date? Or pace my study & practice test evenly throughout the year OR just cram it towards the end of the year? Your reply would be soooooo much help!
Rachel King I think what you do depends on how you learn. Some people work better when they cram, but others work better when they space everything out. I would start studying/ learning, using the books, and take a practice test maybe once a month and carefully review each question when you look over the answers. With a month or two left, you should only be reviewing, not learning, and taking practice tests every week. I think there will be enough tests (8 from college board, and the rest from reddit). Hope that helps! :)
thank you so much for this video! i have a high gpa and am good at ap testing and regular class tests, but sat has been a struggle. and congrats girl! a 1500 will take you far.
do u have any tips for being a good test taker? I feel like I'm a hard worker but that doesn't reflect in my test scores because of my lack of test taking abilities and it's really brought me down the past year (freshman year of hs). I'd appreciate any advice!!🥰
Alisha Kalley One thing I do is learn the unique varieties of tests my teachers make. I feel like all my teachers have unique styles of testing such as the content and types of questions being asked such as contextual questions, application questions, etc.. Once you figure out how your teacher structures the tests you can study accordingly. For example, tests that are content and memorization based such as history class, I will create a quizlet with practically all the information in the unit and review and review. Math teachers tend to give out study guides practically identical to tests, so I make sure to understand every aspect and go in for questions beforehand if i’m confused. English tests for a book I will refresh my mind reading summaries on SparkNotes, Litcharts, and others. Overall, repetition of material through studying and being able to predict the test has helped me. I hope this makes sense since all schools are different... :)
The problem is so many teachers put huge emphasis on homework. Your lucky you went to a school where that wasn't the case but I always had at least 3 hours of hw to do every day that weighed heavy on my grade lol.
The SAT is a waste of time. Studying for it is a waste of time. I got into all the schools that I applied to and I had Bs and Cs, got less than 1000 on my SAT. This test will not make or break you. And if you think scoring a good grade will make you special, it doesn’t. Because after high school nobody asks you about your score.
Honestly, what you do with your life matters more than the sat. It's better to be a happy college grad earning 40K a year, with an 850, than a miserable harvard grad that got 1550 but earns 140K.
My 10 psat score was a 1050. I got an 800 in English and the rest in math. I am not good at math. I also haven't taken geomotry yet. Hoping that helps. My goal for SAT is a 1350 or higher for the college I want to get into.
Most helpful sat prep video so far. Literally couldn't find any other videos that cut straight to the point about good books to use, making a study schedule, or even a good calculator 😂 thank you! I appreciate this so much 🙏
Ha ha ha... if I told my dad to give me a penny if I got a 1600 he would beat the hell out of me and tell me that he will beat me even harder if I dont get a 1600
My sat is this weekend so i did a khan academy's practice sat, and i also got a 790 on math (math is my natural uber strength) but im weak in reading with a 620, making my composite score a 1410; do u know a specific tip for me to improve just reading (im also asian too btw 😂); id really appreciate it👍
with reading, you need a lot of practice to get used to the questions, types of passages, and timing. so, maybe focus on the writing section and go over grammar rules really quickly/ do some practice problems to make sure that section is strong
Hello Kelly. I want to say thank you. I watched your video around early June and thereon began using your tips and template to help me study for my October SAT. I cannot stress enough how useful the phrase "stay committed" and the template were. I'm happy to say that I've improved from 1170 my sophomore year to a 1500 this year! Thank you again and best of luck from California!
Vincent S This answer is kind of tricky because I get stressed often... I guess time management is something you can control that will really help. Don’t bite off more than you can chew. If you know you are super active in extra curricular activities, try not to take as many honors/ap classes, and visa versa.
Yup, the days I skipped studying I had tests to study for and projects to work on. I’m doing well in school so it was never really an issue and I didn’t spend that much time stressing about classes
I really wanted to try the college panda, and other books but they're $30 each. :/ I'm struggling to pay for the actual SAT. I wish these opportunities were more accessible. Don't get me wrong, this video helped. I just feel like being able to say "no tutor" is contradictive when you have the supplies a tutor would offer.
if you didn’t already know, collegeboard gives fee waivers for those who cannot afford to take the test. i agree in that the opportunities are not easily accessible. the US educational system is very “pay to win.” however, i strongly disagree with you saying that “no tutor” is contradictory because SAT tutors cost an average of $70 per hour. if you spend 2 months studying on your own, like how i did, you pay $90. (even less if you know someone that could give you their used books.) but if you spend 2 months studying with a tutor that only charges $60 and meet once a week, that’s $540. in many cases, tutors require you to meet a minimum number of times or more than once per week. that can easily go up to $1000.
kelly cha . Thank you, I do benefit from the fee waiver, but it is limited in different ways, and it only covers the test once (for some places - twice). I know tutors can go upwards of hundreds (to thousands) of dollars. I didn’t mean to minimize your score without a tutor, I apologize I could have worded it differently. I was more referring to the broad scale of standardized testing where someones score will obviously change if given proper resources (like books). So many are inaccessible and the scores don’t truly depict a student’s capabilities, and it’s disappointing these books and opportunities arent shared throught every students journey. Anyways, I didn’t mean to take away from your dedication!!! I can tell you worked hard, I just want anyone else reading this who can’t afford extra resources to know that these tests aren’t an end-all to your success as a student.
Girl, I love this video so much and your personality haha you have a new subscriber! btw what are you thinking about majoring in/career path-I honestly don’t know what I want to do so I’m always looking to see what others are doing to get some ideas :)
Lol, my only incentive from my Asian parents to score that high or else I'll be grounded and everything taken away. Then force to study harder for the next exam
Your schedule says you read a lot of khan academy reading passages but when I go to khan academy SAT prep, I can only find 4 passages. Where did you get all of those reading passages from?
i finished a practice test book and is moving on to the college board prep book. are they first four actually not worth it,,? 🥺🥺 idk if i should spend my time taking them, can someone let me know if there are any actual differences between the first four and last four? like are the questions easier or ?? thank you if anybody answers, ugh i appreciate it lots
the first 4 are made for practice while the last 4 are actual past exams. so, the first 4 are not completely accurate. if you don’t have the time to take all of them, i’d recommend only doing the last 4 and some more released tests before taking practice tests 1-4.
kelly cha ahh thank you so much for answering!! i actually realized that i took the first three on khan academy before anyways, i think i’ll just go ahead with the last four like you mentioned ! have a great day, and thanks again 💖
you see...my "how to get a 1500+ on the SAT" (imma' graduating senior btw who got two 1510's) would be basically use khan academy and use a 1993 ti-82 calculator on the math section and get an 800 'cause old calculators are liiiitttt XDXDXD...the video would be like a minute long and would literally help no one XD...but you gave some really good tips, and you're def ten billion times more dedicated than i was studying the SAT (i literally did one practice test on khan academy the night before the test at like 9-10 pm smh XD!). you definitely deserve the score you got, kelly :D!
@Lamia Siddiqui hey :D! well, i always had a better time with math personally than the reading...that's just me at least. as for my sat prep schedule in general, i literally just used khan academy's prep (it helped me a TON). tbh i wasn't too dedicated like kelly in studying; i would do maybe a few questions every now and then. then, the night before the test, i crammed one whole sat practice test...including the writing portion...at 10 pm - 12 am in the morning XD! do not procrastinate like i did, but i believe achieving a score in the 1400's - 1500's is definitely possible with Khan Academy with enough effort! hope that helps 'ya! best of luck, i know you'll get that bread and do well ;D!!!
The Man They have a solve feature, where you put in the equation and automatically solves for x. They also have completing the square for circle questions. They do systems of equations. And, it’s just really convenient when working with fractions bc it types it as a fraction, not a slash which uses a bunch of parentheses
