How to get a dealer license in California. Follow my journey, I will everyone updated on this process. This is my first RU-vid video stay tuned for auctions videos and car deals coming 👍soon
I have a quick question how do I go by setting up an LLC with me being under another dealer license as a dealer rep putting tittle and do taxes write off expenses and getting business credit
@@antlivetheentrepreneur4478 I don’t think you can setup an LLC a Rep. All the paperwork you will have will be under the dealers name so they own the cars because they have the license. I could be wrong but that’s how I think it is.
honest opinion bro i respect what your doing bro i hope u get some were far in life . im 20 at the moment i watched the video over and over just to soak up the knowledge you were giving out to the people ima just do it like you said 💯
Good video bro hope everything is working out.. hardest and most expensive part is finding a location that is retail approved for car dealing by the city. Sounds like you got lucky find a small spot
Good stuff bro. Video was very informative.. Been a UCM director for years. Ready to take a step in another direction and start selling for myself in a small operation. Thanks for the info. Hope your doing great starting out. Leaving LA area and heading back up north where I’m from. How you like Copart cars though? I’m sure its pretty big in recon. Are you doing all cash deals I’m assuming? I appreciate your feedback how you been liking it. Thanks
Yeap all cash to start off, and yes Copart cars definitively need recon but every used car will. I try to take on the ones that need the least amount of body work. Quick movers ..car business is good at times and slow at times but definitely FUN lol
Can the office and parking spot be at my house or residences? I have an office/room with Seperate. Parking spot would be in my drive way. Thanks for your help. Great video.
Thank you so much for this video , It was really interesting and helpful . clean & clear descriptions for all my questions . Now , I have 2 other questions. Do I need to take an exam for a car wholesaler license in California ? 2- If i invest 50K for it ( I do have a bodyshop cousin ) would it be profitable for me ? It would be much appreciated in advance
1 yes for wholesale license you still need to take the test. 2 it will definitely help you but it’s hard to say you will make a profit. You can find good deals on crashes cars and you got a good body shop guy . It may take some trail/error .
@@anthonyjohnson498 it could . Most likely for wholesale , potentially even retail depending on the location . It all depends on the zoning in the area .
Hi everyone, I live in San Diego and I'm trying to get a dealer license, but I don't know much about the procedure. Can someone help me? I can pay for that also can be facetıme too thanks.
Thanks man. So for a wholesale dealer license meaning you can only buy cars from one auction and sell it in another auction , you can use your place of living but the office in your home must have its own entry so like maybe your garage. For retail license you do need an office in a commercial building
@@oegesauto5619 Thank you for replying! For the commercial building office, is it able to be on the 2nd floor? Or does it have to be on the first floor? Thanks again man!
@@oegesauto5619 Awesome man! Thanks for your time. I saw you mentioned you only need 1 space? I've heard you need 2? And yes I'm in California as well. Thank you for your help and congrats!
Here’s a link to where you can see the paperwork. www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/vehicle-industry-services/occupational-licensing/occupational-licenses/vehicle-dealer-license/
@@Octanejunkiess everything . Your parking spots with proper sign and that they are not easily removable. They have a checklist I don’t remember everything at the moment. For sure all sings up
Hola un pregunta el local con un espacio de parqueo puede ser una oficina pequeña con un estacionamiento en cualquier lugar o debe de ser una zona específica de alguna ciudad me refiero para una licencia de retail
Thanks for sharing. I have a few questions:You mentioned that you are waiting. Waiting for what? Also, you mentioned applying for a sellers permit. A sellers permit from where?
Hi, I have a question: can the location with a parking space be a small office with parking anywhere, or does it need to be in a specific area of a city? I mean for a retail license.
Can’t they don’t allow public in because that drives the prices up.. then it is not a wholesale marketplace anymore. They used to allow it about 25 yrs ago
Hey Oege, I’ve been watching for a while now and i’m getting ready to submit most of my requirements. I’m here in yolo county, How were you able to get a one space lot and office? Where should i rent out a space? did you manually install your display parking sign? I am not really interested in a wholesale license. I appreciate all your help 👍🏽👍🏽
This is the hardest part trying to find the right location. Try checking Craigslist and also driving around your area. The office has to be zoned for dealers where ever you decide to rent
Usually the areas where there are a lot of mechanic shops and other independent dealers, parts places, etc. There is a reason cities have them grouped all in one area that isn’t a coincidence.. some rural counties have much less strict zoning laws
It can be, you just have to sell more units as a wholesaler. The car market is a little uncertain especially around this time of year. Even as a wholesaler you will still need a home office with a separate entrance.
Kind of random question - There's a specific car I want at a dealer only auction. Are there ways that I can contact a dealer and ask them to do a proxy bid for me at the auction, with me ending up owning the car? Thanks!
Yes, when you are filling out the application for your dealer Bond, they will ask you for it. when you are filling out your application for the DMV they will ask you for it as well.
If I got my wholesale license to be able to buy vehicles at an auction, am I then free to drive the vehicles whenever I want as if it were a personal vehicle? Also, with a wholesaler license, I know I can only sell at auctions/dealers but am I able to then put the vehicle in my name seperate from my buisness and then sell to anyone I want up to the 5 per year? Or can I never put the vehicles in my personal name and only keep them in business name or sell to auction/dealer?
With wholesale you can buy vehicles anywhere (auction, direct from people) and then you can resel at auctions. You will get a personal license plate that allows you to drive the cars as needed to conduct business (take for oil change, detail shop etc) technically you cannot use as a personal vehicle but if you’re “test driving” the car you should be ok . You can go on as many test drives you like :). And you can’t transfer them to your name but try to find a retail dealer who can help with the transfer for a small fee
You can use your surname and add and apply for the LLC . The DBA would be if you don’t use your surname . DBA and LLC are completely different things .
@@oegesauto5619 OK, cool I'm still setting up my office location and signage. I have my Bond and everything ready, and as soon as my office and display area is set up I should be ready to submit my application. How many Plates should I get? Or how many did you order?
@@andrerobinson5867 perfect good luck to you . I only applied for one plate however I only got a temporary plate, they said the original will arrive in 6 moths, yes 6 Months 😯
@@oegesauto5619 I know a dealer who goes to these dealer auctions and helps me buy thru his lic. I'll give him my max bid for the vehicle I want and he will buy it and i pay him cash on the day that the auction sold it. I do give him a small commition for the favor and pay any auction fees that come with the car. But I need to find another back up since he's getting ready to retire and won't do this anymore. Do you know anyone that is cool like this or what you recommend. How can I find another dealer willing to help?
For retail sales you cannot use a house as an office. For wholesaling vehicles you can use a home office. But it needs to have its own entrance from the exterior. Hope that helps. I have a commercial office where store a few cars and have an office.
Good question, I think you may have to pay a little more to add commercial sales to the license . On the application you can check what you will be selling, (used cars, motorcycles, commercial cars etc) .
@@oegesauto5619 I just ran into this question in my dealer101 class, there is no additional cost for choosing commercial, motorcycle, RV etc.. So you’re able to choose even all of them and not get charged. Which is pretty cool.
@@desirejames5417 new cars is a lot different. You may need to franchise but I’m not sure how that works to be honest . I know it’s similar but also different
@@oegesauto5619 Hi !! I have plenty of small dealers around my house... how do you negotiate using their location? Is there a way of doing this ? tHANKS in advance
@@oegesauto5619 Thanks for answering ! Ok got it, based on your experience, roughly how much are commercial offices going for in Los Angeles ? I might have to go that route
