@AdamLuke
@AdamLuke 3 года назад
Thanks man, appreciate that. new GOOD question...striking a good work/life balance is difficult and something that will evolve over time. In my first year on a graduate scheme, I basically lived to work! However I slowly realised that business is forever evolving and can never be "completed" so I've learnt to balance the two much better over time (working SMART not just hard!). Once you start work, after some time you'll find a routine that works for you.

Your careers office may have some books to use however the resources I used were online or bought from Amazon.
@Benwilliaams
@Benwilliaams 4 года назад
@@AdamLuke Hi Adam, thanks for the reply! I wouldn't say I am struggling per say, I am very average. But I know to get on these schemes you have to be in the top 5% etc. Do you think they favour more crystallised intelligence than learning on the go as I am a learn over time sort of person which is why I feel I can't get past the tests to sum up! Thanks for the advice though!
@AdamLuke
@AdamLuke 4 года назад
@@Benwilliaams Hi Ben, the ability to learn on the go is EXACTLY what they're looking for. Recruiters want a graduate who's eager and willing to learn that they can mould into a future leader. Majority of your training will be on-the-job training, meaning you learn by doing! You need a degree and to pass the numerical & verbal reasoning tests however besides that, it's more about you as an individual. Hope that helps!

@@AdamLuke Hey Adam. Thanks, that's encouraging to hear, I am certainly a slower learner. @AdamLuke
@AdamLuke 3 года назад
It's all about coming across as authentic, so providing you can read the script in a natural way then it'll be fine to simply read an answer. Ideally you can recite your answers from memory, that way you don't have to refer to your script and you can focus on saying it more naturally. If it's pre-recorded and you have a couple of attempts, I'd opt for a few bullet points and try improvise the rest. Best of luck if you have an interview!

Hi, thanks for the question - your educational background is exactly what recruiters want to see on a CV! Speaking from experience, I had been graduated 2 years before starting my programme (I actually believe the extra couple of years experience helped secure my scheme). So yes, I believe you'll definitely be eligible and if you believe it's relevant then mention your further education in your cover letter. I would focus on your experience on internships as companies will love you already have experience in the corporate world.

@@AdamLuke thank you so much for your reply! I have wasted so many months looking for someone to just tell me that it's okay to have more education than a bachelor's degree to apply for a graduate scheme. I know I won't be an early applicant now given that most of the schemes have already closed, but at least it has given me some hope that there is a slight chance that I might get considered. So, thank you so much! It really means a lot 😊

@@simranchawla6 I'm glad I was able to help in some way! I went through similar feelings of doubt when I was applying, and I ended up on a scheme so apply with confidence! The next couple of months is prime time to apply so best of luck with your applications. If you have any more questions, please feel free to message me on instagram or drop me another comment 🙌🏻

As a 20yr executive recruiter, the biggest factor is your natural presence, charisma and communication skills..which you have in spades.....my one piece of advice is try and leave the UK and either move to the US tech industry or maybe somewhere in Asia.....

Thank you so much, I appreciate the positive feedback. Good advice, I definitely could consider my options. Working in the US may be a good move.

@@AdamLuke I'm a headhunter in the Bay Area tech world, mainly early stage to Series B....they love a British accent and it has opened so many doors for me. Hey! Is that in reference to the assessment centres? I'm sure some can be! I would 100% steer clear of companies who promote these kind of environments.

Yo Adam! I am currently looking for grad schemes and your video popped up in my youtube feed. Is there any platform we could chat for some questions I have. I would really appreciate it because I’m running out of hopes 😅
