I'm not an architect, but I feel grateful that I can take nuggets from your advice (looking for work, building a portfolio, even just general design ideas) and apply it to video production.

I'm actually finding that there is a surprisingly large amount of intersection between design and video production!

Great content and advice! I got in as an entry level draftsman and worked my way up while getting my degree. I think that can work for some people. I think your on point with the online presence as I see the flashier firms get projects over firms with a great track record.

I'm sure you had a lot of foundational knowledge when you started your degree. Proper drafting is definitely a highly sought after skill. (Hope you were able to capitalize on that in your portfolio!) 😁

You're a great brand ambassador. I've seen advertisements for other website builders composed of a quick verbal rundown, which creates minimal interest for me. Your video actually makes me want to use Wix.

Hi, Dami I followed and watched your video on how to create an online portfolio through Wix and just published it the other day. It was relatively straightforward after I gathered all the pictures, videos and writing to go into it. I had a website before but it felt like too many things were getting thrown at you at once, so I challenged myself to create a very minimalist site and the template you used on your tutorial was PERFECT for what I was visioning. Thank you and great video!

@DamiLeeArch
@DamiLeeArch 2 года назад
Yeah I think social media is pretty important for creatives / architects today, but we can't just stop at putting up beautiful images. In an ideal world, we would all be be using the full parameters of the platform, for eg.Instagram carousel, Reels, stories, to engage with people and help people understand our work.

What a coincidence to find this particular topic about seeking for a job, even if my field is different from architecture. At least there are lessons to be taken, especially online presence. We were once a beginner that's for sure and we often forget about that.

Im architecture graduate batch 2018. June 2020 was supposed to be my board exam but unluckily Covid breakout here in my country by March. How many months passed by and 5 times it had been cancelled and kinda drain to myself. Reviewing kinda tiring w/c uncerntainties if it will push through the last time it cancelled was 5 days before my exam. I thought of taking a break maybe I take my board next year.

Hi Dami! Great video with a lot of insight on employment tips. I wanted to ask you for ur advice on my desired career path and on how I should pursue it. I have a deep passion for architecture and massing of buildings but also would like to learn aspects of structural analysis, logistics of a building etc. So, after some research, I decided it would be the best option to opt for a bachelors degree in civil engineering (mainly for flexibility and additional engineering knowledge as I heard the job market for architects is saturated at the moment), and then take further courses and graduate studies in architecture. My question is, can I work as an architect with valuable engineering knowledge by taking this study path? As there are some opinions that presume I can’t connect between the two and doing a civil eng degree doesn’t qualify me to do further studies on architecture and work in this field. So if possible, pls share your advice on the best way regarding how I can take this path and to which I hope that its a possible route. Thank you!🙏🙏
@DamiLeeArch
@DamiLeeArch 2 года назад
You can definitely do an undergrad in civil and a master's in an accredited architectural program. Just keep in mind that you will have to do a bit of catchup when you start your master's and that it will take a bit longer (3-4years) if you don't have an undergrad in architecture. Hope this helps 😊

@@DamiLeeArch Thanks for the reply! Im glad that it's somehow possible as I really want to pursue the architect route so its great reassurance that it can be possible. Keep up with the great and informative videos, the more I watch the more I'm engrossed in the profession👌😂

Hello demi, I'm not going to lie, I'm having an early life crisis, 2nd year of school and I find myself scared for my social life. I don't want to sacrifice my relationship with someone I love for school. Are there other paths to go down that aren't so time consuming? Like willi really have no time to sleep? Is my life really going to be eat, breathe, live, sleep architecture? I don't know if I want that.
@DamiLeeArch
@DamiLeeArch 2 года назад
Your life doesn't have to be like that at all. I hate that doing allnighters and sacrificing your health and relationships have become so normalized in architecture, when it really doesn't have to be like that. Start building good habits, sleeping / waking up at the same time, learn to manage your time / priorities, and give yourself hard deadlines for tasks. It takes time to be able to manage yourself well, but it's one of the most essential skills in life and architecture school will be a great opportunity for you to learn that skill :)
@chrisgarganta3936
@chrisgarganta3936 2 года назад
@@DamiLeeArch I really hope you are right. Because I do have a passion for architecture. But I still want a social life. Time with loved ones, friends, free time for myself! It's à terrifying field... and I hope they salary at the end will be worth it. Everyone says school is that hardest part about architecture, what do you think?

I don’t know anything abt editing or other stuff so I thought podcast sounds good 👌 I don’t think it’s good idea for me to start something needs lots of efforts and time cuz I’m lazy & stupid 😂 when I’m motivated it’s fine but it’s kinda scary when I lose motivation and back to lazy and stop continue🥲 Is there any easy or good way to start podcast type of thing. (I can show ny face but if I start using video I feel like I have to cut and edit and all. Sounds difficult😬 Record my voice and post on RU-vid? English is my second language and I’m stupid 19👍 I’m good at explaining thing that I understand but I’m not smart so there is so many things that I can’t understand. 😅 Also I’m only good at explaining things in my voice, I’m suck at writing 😂 U don’t have to reply back but is there anything that stupid bad personality 19 years old teen can do?? To start showing my personality & thoughts on something??🌸
