Yes ! Thank you very much for sharing your experience. I would guess that your advices are mostly the same if we want to work with other animals that are not marine mammals ?
My entire career has been in ophthalmology and I recently decided to follow my dream to work with animals. I was lucky enough to obtain a job in a veterinary hospital. I can testify that I took a huge decrease in pay and would not have been able to take that leap 10 years ago! Animal caregivers do not make a lot of money, it must be a passion! I too volunteered and agree that it is what helped to open doors!
This was really enlightening! I wish everone who wants to be a marine biologists all the best for their careers! And KP, keep up the good work! Love your new style of videos!
Thank you KP - it was amazing to hear your story .! So glad you ended up at Vancouver Aquarium and that I got to " meet " you thanks to Joey and his siblings .Hope I can go and visit soon - can not wait to meet the otter family in person ! Do not be alarmed when you see a grey haired , otter T shirt wearing lady screaming with joy at being at he aquarium ! oh, there might also be some tears of joy ...
Oh my goodness, the pics of you and the baby walrus are so precious. I have done some volunteer work with raptors too. Love the owls. Great video, Thanks KP😀
okay this video just really spoke to me. i am from denver too and when you said that my jaw dropped. that helped me kind of grasp this idea of “i can do this too”. i have a really big heart for animals and i want to work with them but i’m not sure how. i want to help injured animals and help them get back on their feet, but it takes at least 8 years of schooling to be a vet which is a lot. we will see what i end up doing but this video really really helped and i appreciate you so much :)
@@KPassionate hee hee. Okay then! I personally would love to live there though I know it is expensive (but so is CA where I live!) - thanks again for all you do!
KP living my best life. Juliet Ferret sends her dooks to your 'business'. I was wondering if Joey is still meeping? Baby Mika Ferret meeped very loudly but not as loudly as a Joey Sea Otter, lol
3:44 'Raptors' really, how funny. I take my Ferrets to see Doctor Jones at Ut and he rescues Raptors. I wonder if he knows about the Sea Lions? rofl great doctor minds think alike.
You are truly AMAZING ‼️ I’m finished with a career, but love getting my education from you. I’m lucky to see dolphin and manatee right outside my window. Enjoy my membership at The Florida Aquarium in Tampa. Thank you KP🍷
as a kid I wanted to be a marine biologist until i learned i had to dissect animals in school and noped right out of there LOL (it was totally because of Free Willy that i wanted to) great vid! and unpaid internships should be illegal >:C
That was amazing, your drive and passion radiated through the screen. If you have a min i would appreciate some of your advice/time. I live in kind of a remote part of the world, with low funding and a strong desire to do this type of work. Do u have any advice for me perhaps..?
Hi KP, you have no idea valuable and moral building this video is. see most of my experience with animals came from volunteering at World Bird Sanctuary, a raptor sanctuary and rehab. I grew up with a passion for marine mammals. I then took an. internship at New England Aquarium with their penguins. what you have given me is valuable, because now I know its possible to turn bird experience into marine mammal experience!
So if you don’t have a degree in biology or anything regarding science, would you say that doing a BA in biology first would be the first step to working in the field?
Hi! Thank you for your video, it was really enlightning. I have a marine biology major, but I can't seem to find internships that could give me experience... Do you know of any programs or projects that I could participate in? Thanks again a sea you later!
Are expansive outdoor, multi-species exhibits with underwater viewing platforms to expensive for the average zoo? I know RSW systems are pricey the further south the exhibit is constructed. Can the Walruses live in the same exhibit as a California Sealion? I'm aware of what a Polar Bear will eat, I was surprised that they have company. My short stay in the Aleutian Islands made me feel that we were in their World, not the other way around.
I am in class10 and I need your, help me with my future. Please help me take my next step . I wana because a Marine biologist, i wana live my life with anime .
KP Thank you for sharing your Story. I'm a 41 Year Old & I've just been accepted into University. USC Moreton Bay Campus Australia. I've never been to University before & my new Journey behings next February 2024. I'm Studying a Bachelor of Animal Ecology. Three year's full Time or Six Year's part time. I have a good attitude and a soft nature. I want to work with Dolphins & Seals. I was wondering once I complete my studies will this give me enough qualifications to work with Mammals. Aquarium Setting & Sea Rescues. Recently I submitted my application for a Work Experience program At the Australia Zoo. Steve Irwin Way "One Door Closes One Door Opens" Life is full of possibilities. 🐬🐬 🦭. Congratulations on your Goals & sussess.
@@KPassionate Apologies for my long Question in my previous reach out KP. Over Ten Years ago I wanted my dream to come to come true to become a Mammals Trainer. I didn't believe within my innerself & people would put me down. Now I'm ready & to advocate to other's that people like myself who have a learning disability, to follow your dreams & goals before it's to late. Only recently I seen The Movies Dolphin Tail 1 & 2 is filmed at a real Aquarium in Florida. Winter can do it so can I 🐬 posetic tail. RIP 🙏 Winter Changed so many people's lives over the years and people with disabilities, impairments & so forth. I applied to do work experience at the Australia Zoo so that I can have my foot in the door & to learn about these amazing Animals, also this would be good to have work experience on my Resume. I'm excited to study a Bachelor of Animal Ecology. University will be extremely tough. But I have the passion & determination to succeed. My door in life has finally opened. One things about dolphins I've researched, Dolphins sleep with one eye opened and they use half of there brain. Dolphins in the ocean like playing with the Puffer Fish which is extremely Poisonous what I've found on my own research. All of this is just fascinating.
Awesome video! The Baby walruses and Sea lions are very cute It's my destiny to work with seals, sea lions, walruses probably in a zoo/aquarium or seal rescue and i have full passion for it and and am not settling for anything else and i'm willing to take risks but i'm home schooled not keen on getting a degree is it 100% necessary to have degrees and go to collage/university and have a lot of animal experience , and is it really as competitive as it sounds? i really want to work with seals more than anything i have to work with seals i have to tho i'm not sure if i have all the requirements? please someone help what steps should i take?🦭🦭🦭
