I feel like virtual machine and / or bare metal hackintosh is the next evolution of this video. It would be cool to see Jonathan’s thoughts on hackintosh in 2023 vs the M series chips
@@alegamer_real you can hackintosh 12th and 13th gen…. However only desktop chips and the iGPU won’t work, but it is possible. There’s also new improvements on AMD hackintosh (on current gen CPUs) which is cool
knowing LTT's earlier video about an optical USB cable, (now as a USB 4 compatible cable)... this is 100% possible. There could be a laptop OUTSIDE the building around 100 meters away from the room.
@@JASONKENTJANA If people get offended by calling MacBook A laptop, then it is their loss and their mental health decreases not mine 😂😂. I call my iPad A tablet many times and there is nothing wrong about it, and my friend calls his MacBook A laptop many times.
I tried this a long time ago with both Win7 and Linux theming and realized that it wasn't the _look_ of OSX/macOS that appealed to me from my MBP, but the _feel_ of system. That's when I got into hackintoshing.
Oh, I'd love to hear what the "feel" you're talking about particularly is. I know for me, I downloaded a sketchy virtualbox VM of Snow Leopard years ago and saw how painless installing from a .dmg was. these days i install almost everything with homebrew. having a unix shell at my disposal has become such a normal thing i feel lost on windows now. plus ive gotten so used to jumping around using keyboard shortcuts and trackpad gestures, so yeah, even if macOS UI is missing some features of windows, I've rarely, if ever, found that to be a problem.
Instructions unclear, got an entire media company wielding multiple channels to be hacked, compromising 3 channels with about 20million subscribers total, sending my boss in a frenzy on his strawberry pants at 3am midnight.
@@JoeOrber You see how you think like a Mac user? With a PC there's no "just". You just use your computer for everything without even thinking about it. With a Mac you can't unless Apple tells you to.
@@JoeOrber A decent custom PC will wipe his ass with any Apple computer on the market rn. Even my 3070 ti can beat an M1 Ultra in basically any 3d modelling software or game engine (which is what I mainly use it for productivity wise). Not only that, but I didn't pay 6000 dollars for my build and I can actually game on it.
I switched to a similar cursor quite a while ago and would never go back. It's not the MacOS one, but very close, it's called "Posy's Cursor Black", with the edits of the black move cursor, and default windows text select (as the posy one is too thick). I find it far easier to locate when you wiggle it around on both light and dark backgrounds, and overall it looks so much more modern.
@@dvg9904 mac mini is the best value if you need a mac, a used one is almost cost effective for price to performance. while the MacBook you reccomend is garbage. 8 gigs of ram on an 800$ computer is insane, especially since it is shared with the gpu.
i need mac for schoolwork because of app comparability and honestly it’s not the best laptop but it’s up there. i can game on it too and it’s pretty fast
If anybody wants to follow this theirs actually a few options -This -Linux customized to look like Mac OS (much less tedious than this and could be more convincing. Closest you can get without hackintoshing) -Hackintosh (because yeah it's Mac OS)
The only Apple I've used was a Apple //c, I loved it, but I got smart after spending about 3K for Apple in the early mid 80s, to go PC, I upgraded my own, built replacement computers with parts, etc. If I ever got a off the shelf computer the first thing I did was check for future upgradability, if it didn't please me, I took it back and some fool bought it open box and the store took a loss, yes best buy I'm talking to you, your excessive volume you play overhead... a clerk asked me if there was anything I was looking for in particular, I said ear protection earplugs, so I could shop peacefully 😮
That or hackintoshing since it’s not quite yet dead, and probably never will be with ARM computers becoming more mainstream, the only problem is emulating all the security features of Apple Silicon
Someone I know helped my to install a Mac OS vm (like a real one) on Windows with VMWare. Unfortunately it stucks on MacOS Catalanina since the virtual drivers don't work for Ventura. Which means that most of the Apple-Exclusive Apps don't work.
I bought a first-gen Apple TV last week and hacked Mac OS 10.5 Leopard onto it. :D This Apple TV is more capable (and runs surprisingly well) as a Hackintosh than in its original form; since the first-gen Apple TV can no longer log into iTunes, it's basically completely useless now unless you hack an alternative OS onto it.
I do not wish I had a Mac, its literally worse than windoze. I like having a very aesthetically pleasing desktop, which cannot be achieved on windoze or Mac. AwesomeWM ftw
Hahaha, if there's one thing I'd love to take from Windows TO Apple it's explorer. Finder 'works' but man, copying the path and pasting it everywhere speeds up the workflow so much.
You can still do that though on Finder. Everything Windows File Explorer has, Finder has too (the address bar is off by default for some reason so you gotta turn it on in the view tab)
@Spaceboi Scapahandre does it have detailed progress during file transfers? When I copy files it just gives me a time with no other information. Explorer gives file transfer speed, time, and a graph of the current transfer rate over time. Also, can't figure out how have shortcuts to common folders. Also can't seem to save a link to network folders, not sure why that is. I'm a relative mac newbie btw.
Honestly im indifferent towards macs i have a MacBook pro (2010) that i fully refurbished and upgraded but alot of the games i play only run on windows so as much as i love my MacBook id rather have a windows laptop
Ah yes. I did this 15 years ago when I had Mac envy while using a Vaio laptop. Then I got a Mac and never looked back. PowerBook G4 running 10.4 Tiger. Funny how almost no one tries to make a Mac look like a PC! I’m sure such mods exist but they must be extremely niche and rare.
