Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/2t1n2hx
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

When a streaming service says “no thanks”, sometimes it can be because they just bought another film that was very similar, or they are currently making their own content with a similar story line. Or even, that particular month, they are focused on only buying Christmas themed movies, or only comedies, or only horrors etc. My film was submitted to a distributor and nothing happened for 6 months. Then suddenly they wanted the rights to pitch it urgently. And within a few months was on 30 streaming services worldwide. I guess we just had to wait until the streaming services were after that particular type of content.

Congratulations Tim. Great job. So patient. And you're very appreciative, as I would be. I have friends I have helped with Warner bros Studio where we worked for many years and I never got ONE Thank you. I'm serious. Sad business sometimes. Ruthless. I am happy for you. James

I'm exploring the viability of building an alternative to Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, etc., one built on an entirely new model that would give writers and creators more say. I'm not entire certain it would pan out, and it's going to require a sh!t ton of work (and cash), but if it were easy........ Anyway, wish me luck

I've thought a lot about this... You need either a lot of money to hire tech people or you need to become a good software developer. Also, your business model must be unique, different, and better. Financially sustainable too. Can you update us on your progress?

As a young filmmaker, I would also love to be a part of this if you ever get to start one. Willing to work for free until things are great lol (so we can save up on cash)!

@@davidmakesawesomefilms Have you read "No Rules Rules"? Netflix started mailing DVDs through the Post Office. The Netflix CEO met with Blockbuster in the early 00s. Netflix offered a merger and to manage the BB website... And they laughed at them! A few months later, Netflix was the biggest streaming service in the world while Blockbuster crumbled. So it's totally possible to have a film/tech startup. But 90% of the success depends on the initial 5 or 10 founders.

I rather take the independent route. If these companies want in, then they'll contact me. Same with the music industry, build your own leverage.

@@dobsashimself that's, true but most times while you out there working hard you also gotta work smart, comics for example image invincible happen multiple comics before it got picked up by HBO, and had leverage, while idw tried to chase Hollywood and now ran themselves into the ground.

@@dobsashimself it's either build leverage or kiss up to the distributors. The music industry is the same way.

The movie he produced or is most likely referring to is 'Kiss and Cry' (2017) It's a romance about a girl who's figure skating and singing career is halted after she gets cancer. It's not exactly a preppy fun High School Musical-esque Disney flick and probably is better as a Hallmark channel drama. Still not bad film by any means. It's on Netflix though.

If you do not know anyone at Netflix and other Streaming services how do you possibly get that FIRST INTERVIEW? MY goodness. I wrote a script with Rambaldi family help, yes, ET, King Kong, and have a wonderful Faith Based screenplay everyone who knows about wishes would be FILMED. I'd film it myself and have connections through Warner Bros Studio but, THEN WHAT? lol
