The PhD by publication can also be through work experience and deliverables / major change projects. You need 3 of those. I want to do this. Where can I get in contact. I need help!

Do you thik is it doable in a Canadian University?

What if my supervisor doesn’t want me to finish unless i finish 3.5 years? Some university they have like milestones at the end of each year and you have to stick to that regardless of your actual progress in your research.

1-2 years seems unrealistic given course requirements alone take 2-3 years to complete since certain courses are only offered during specific semesters. If a PhD was boiled down to just the dissertation or publishing papers then I could see this happen, but likely it is not.

100% possible. Finished mine in 2. Phd by publication it’s very realistic. US system, no

@@profdavidstuckler that makes sense. I had a colleague from Australia who also finished in 1.5 years and he mentioned that it was due to just being able to focus on his research publications rather than the extra requirements that the US system puts on PhD students. Thanks for the clarification.

@@AdrianPaneto indeed the US system is like a poorly paid job. Make sure you’re doing things that benefit your career to the extent possible. Too often students get pulled into an endless cycle of helping their profs and departments, but not actually doing the things they need to do to get to where they want to go

@@profdavidstuckler Hi, where do you recommend doing a PhD, if my goal is to do a PhD by publications? I know the US os not really preferred, because first you have to be a PhD student for about 2.5 years before becoming a PhD candidate (researching your topic) at least that's what I see online. But is that the case too in European countries? I am from Hungary, a PhD in Hungary I believe always requires classes to be taken, but I think a PhD in the UK does not (not sure), and I am completely unsure of other countries. I just wish to do my PhD by publishing papers, as fast as possible. (If everything goes right, I can start a PhD in 1.5 years.)

@@me_hanics hey Hanics yes I recommend the U.K. to most of my students (sometimes Australia as well) but it depends on your goals and university options available. Join my Fb group and we can chat more in the Dms
