With the amount of time this process would take, it’s actually more efficient to simply pay the markup on the gray market. If the supply chain doesn’t change, and the brand doesn’t diminish, this craziness will simply continue.
No doubt this takes a lot of time and some people don’t see it being worth their time so they go grey but in my humble opinion I think it’s better to support another brand than to pay the outrageous markup in the grey market. Thank you for your comment!
I went in a requested a Datejust 41 and gave them 1/2 up front went in 3-4 months later and stated I needed a Submariner and they didn’t need any money down that time around. The wait time to recv the watches was within 30 days. Thanks Moretti’s !!!
I have bought several Rolex watches at my AD and have a good person I work with there. I have a great purchase history and just bought a white gold daytona at retail from them last week. This is good advice.
Visit the AD at least once a month. Be polite and be prepared to talk about other things not just watches. Demonstrate you are an enthusiast and not a flipper
I wish I had 3 dealerships within a reasonable driving distance (all are over one hour drive away). I also attempted the ‘special occasion’ with a year to go (retirement). I have been retired 6 months already with no luck. My next move might be searching offshore.
It’s true it’s not always feasible to visit multiple ADs on a frequent basis but you can always try following up with the person that assisted you via email. I know the wait can seem to go on forever but all you can do is keep trying and possibly make connections elsewhere or overseas if possible!
How did rolex manage to manipulate their market so they have to beg for their products ? Seems like a company i would never want to be associated with.
All good tips. However, don’t go in person to the ADs twice a month in my opinion. That sounds more like stalking to me. Lol. You can follow up after your first visit via email or calls which work very well. Good luck!
I had no history what so ever with my local AD, I owned no watch, I walked in during covid put myself on the waiting list for a Sub and got a call almost instantly. Im either lucky as shit or the gimmick isn't practiced around here... they had all sorts of date just, day date, subs and even the ym 40mm in everose in store
That is definitely super lucky but thank you for sharing your experience! I also had no history but I did wait less than two months for a sub as well using the tips i mentioned in the video. If you don’t mind me asking where about is your AD located?
@@CuSTACKS If buying on the grey market is your thing, it’s not mine. Rolex is expensive enough without paying premiums for items that you can try to get from an AD directly.
@@houseoflusso6025 so you're saying the grey market is where you would pay more than walking into the retail store but much harder to purchase from a store? Is it because Rolex does not want you to Resell their watches on the secondary market?
@@CuSTACKS Exactly! But to each their own, if there’s a watch you really want and gray is your only option then who am I to tell you what to do with your money 😂
Yeah but it’s cooler if you get through life with one lol I think a lot of people are turned off by the “wait list” so they don’t try to get one. If you don’t try it will never happen 100% but if you try your chances are significantly better.
Some times that small premium is not to small lol I got a OP 41 green at retail and that was pushing it for me finically no way under the sun I could have spent 15k plus on a watch
