With due respect, how can one sharpen their axe with books that help in self improvement. I mean i want to learn ML but it is an ocean, to get good quality materials (right from the basics ) how does reading self help books improve my google search??
99% can't possibly see this video. Out of the little that do, this thought alone would hinder most of em and ease things on us. Out of the few who believe, only few would be consistent
Hi I’m a cs student, at first I really agreed with what you said. And for the most part I still do. But what all this worth if you don’t have friends you don’t have fun you don’t try knew things explore, maybe do something that is not healthy but is healthy for your soul. What does it all worth if you get up everyday and your single agenda is to become better than everyone but not a better person? For me it all comes down to be better than what I was yesterday. And I actually would like to know how do you have fun
i triedhaving friends and dont get along with people bcuz of my intorverted nature i dont open up fast and the life at clg is so fast paced ull always have someone else to replace you so sometimes being alone is the only option u have and i think i am having a different experience than others and my agenda everydya isnt to become better its to live and let live , i have fun but on my own .. u dont necessarily need friends for that matter
I have a CS background and going into coding. I’m learning Java and it’s so annoying. Sometimes I feel like I’m so dumb and how I can live the life that I want to with a dumb ass brain like mine. I really hope to get money out of it. But when I do, wud it be worth it, or me struggling just a waste of time?
@@rithiksharan Trust me most ppl feel that all the time, but that's just how humans are and amazingly enough we get the hang of anything literally anything given we spend enough time doing it. So do code everyday until it's easy, afterall everything is hard before it's easy.
I really like playing videogames. My reason for being in a computer science field is partially so ill be able to afford high end computer parts in the future, specifically for video games. So if i have to give up the whole reason im in conputer science, ill settle for only beating 98%.
I had a similar experience to this, I only play video games around 30 minutes to an hour a day just on my phone now, just continue playing a little games but what I would suggest is instead of being s consumer and playing and consuming and wasting time on video games you should try developing video games, it makes money and teaches you computer science
Honestly it’s because this isn’t really how to get ahead of computer science students. It’s about how to get ahead in daily activities in life. I expected this to be about what to spend more time learning or what topics to tackle, so that you are vastly ahead of the others. This wasn’t super helpful for me personally
I am doing everything you suggested in the video. Currently, I am scrawny, I suck at socializing and my friends think I'm crazy for not playing video games, watching netflix series, having an extreme care for nutrition, and, sleeping early and waking up early (even during the summer break). This video gave me hope that one day, I will be grateful for everything I'm doing right now. Thank you so much for making this!
Bro u think watching some stupid stuff video on RU-vid or isolation will make u ahead of 99 percent hell no u should socialize have fun with work try your best and then leave it on God remember u got only one life so enjoy it with balance
Love this! I’m glad I watched the entire video. Even though I’m already working at a big tech company, I’m working on staying consistent with Leetcode practice, that way I am always interview-ready when it comes to solving these types of problems.
My goodness, I had your video in my downloads for 2 weeks , now I was watching before I delete it and I gotta say I enjoyed every second of this, many of your ideas match with my pre-existing thoughts, You're great keep it up!!❤
This content is Gold! As a Data Scientist, I have been the fish out of water among my friends because of my weird Time schedule too. I have followed some points mentioned here for a long time, Eg Time Management, Book reading and Task Prioritization but I still learned something new.
Bro, I just found your channel and it's a gem. You sound very inspiring and have a lot of potential on your way as youtuber not only as tech but also lifestyle. I've been software engineer for a few years now, but now I want to prioritize leetcode and all of what you're talking about and get my way into high paying company. Wishing you the best on your way!
great video, just wanted to just share a personal tip on sleeping/creating a sleep schedule i personally found that focusing on what time i wanted to wake up and forcing myself to wake up at that set time kind of just naturally made sleepy near 11:30
I was with you till you said cutting out video games. My goal is to get the money to live comfortably, and play my games. Cutting out games to get there is NOT the thing. Not saying I want to spend 100s of hours a week playing games, but naw it's the only thing holding me together. Succeeding through cutting out all entertainment is just mindless depressing progress Drugs and alcohol suck though 😂 I never use those or energy drinks.
I recently have made these changes myself, cutting out games, going to the gym. I have maybe a single drink in a month, so thats easy enough to cut out. This video made a lot of great points, and also made me feel validated and like im on the right track.
"cut bad habits, embrace good ones" this section was such a truth pill, i had to pause at the end of this section, think, then rewatch, just to accept this as a fact.... it sucks but youre 100% right. thank you
I think the biggest problem for most people is that they are so fixated about money. The most important thing about getting ahead of 99% of people is to LOVE what you're doing and don't lie to yourself about that.
The video is titled how to get ahead of 99% of people… that’s how u do it.. if you want to be average which is totally fine then you can do those things
I completely agree with your views that alchohol, drugs, and smoking should be cut out of your life, but video games is a stretch. To be honest the more important thing to cut out in that category is mindless short form content. Video games in moderation have actually been shown to be a beneficial way to cool down and relax.
well tbh i have spent literally 100's of hrs ( all these months ) watching self improvement videos ,i won't say they weren't effective but this 20 mins video covered a hell lot of points and actually helped me figure out where i was lagging . thank u so muchh !! 😊
If you haven't you shoukd try reading some books or listening to them on self improvement they're really good and it's easier to stick to what you're learning when it's a several hour long audio book
Sir I was so with you and thought yes this is exactly right and I am on the right track and I am an athlete and this is how I continue to do well and then you recommended me a book on attracting women. I commend you as this knowledge is often sorely lacking among us cs majors but please dude, realize that women are watching this video too :) I really thought wow he’s only talking to guys rn :( Love the video, just something to keep in mind?? Felt kind of left out for a hot second there 😅
@@eddiekiller21 I am from India and I have tried method of daily problem solving almost 2 years but still everytime I see a new question ,most of time could not find idea to solve . This is not only my problem but our entire nation's , so anyone can get 99+%tile (not %tage) by getting 40 marks out of 100 in maths of JEE Mains. But the problem is getting 40 itself seems very difficult... Can I get something more effective than only solving problems ???
Don't randomly solve, understand concept. See how they are attacking a question and solve. Try a question for sometime, and try your best to solve it. If you are not able to solve, then see where you lacked. It helped me a lot @@bimandas-rw1ts
@@Kevin-od2gsgive urself more time. Whenever I was cramming linear algebra assignments or readings I hated it but if I started early it was actually really interesting and fulfilling how it all fits together. Math is like a web and like connects everything together so it’s cool to just observe it like that
This is literally to get ahead of 99% I just want a chance in tech, but I think people can pick and choose, I agree on exercise, eating right, showering, reason books and studying well. But games are literally what some people get into the field or it’s a good hobby. Drinking once in a while is fine, just be responsible, with age binge drinking just sucks but drinking an expensive wine is better. This advice is to make work and CS your whole life and it should just be a part of who you are. I will never give up my passion for watching TV, trying new games, hopefully I can get ahead of just the 40% 😂
05:03 I think this analogy is wrong because as we look them from ground perspective, the difference in their distance covered will be the same through out the journey
Takeaways from the Video: - Embrace the Mindset of Infinite Evolution: Believe you can improve any skill over time. - Recognize that Computer Science is just one aspect of a well-rounded life; other areas matter too. - Maintain a healthy lifestyle: Exercise regularly and focus on nutrition. - Cut out bad habits (drugs, alcohol, video games) and adopt good ones. - Continuously sharpen your skills: Develop effective study habits and seek improvement. - Utilize the 80/20 Principle: Prioritize essential tasks that yield the most results. - Leverage technology*: Use productivity tools and apps to optimize your workflow.
I won't give up playing games. It's a core part of my life and I'm not willing to give it up. I do wish to spend more of my free time making games than playing them though.
Didn't watch this video. Set a goal to become a millionaire and the video games went naturally. Developing them is one thing but playing them is a massive fucking waste of time.
Once you become hard working you won't even want to play video games, as fun as they are they are absolutely meaning less to play. I'd reccomend just developing them and then occasionally playing them like 4-5 hours a week but it's still a waste of time
I don’t think cutting out all video games is always a great idea because I use it as a social activity with my friends. It just needs to be controlled; like don’t spend 5 hrs straight playing games….
But how do you classify "ahead". At some points id rather have a 140k job and enjoy my time rather than 160k and not. Be so fr not everyone shares the same values
Bro made one small ad and you think it's an invalid video. If you've ever read a book on self improvement it's basically just what this guy is saying, not sure how you would think this isn't good advice
This video is good, even great i would say. But remember everyone has a different story, a different upbringing, a different take on life. I guess how you brand the word “successful” and being ahead of everyone matters. I grew up in a very conservative poor family in Nepal and now as a 30 year old farmer, just started to learn about computers. I am doing pretty well. I live up in the mountains and From farming and livestock i make around $17,000 a year which is no where close to $70,000 - $300,000. But it is a decent amount in a country where the minimum wage is $200 per month. So things are different, there is not a golden rule that fits for all. workout, stay fit, eat healthy, eat good thats great But remember to Enjoy your life too.
Good ideas / bad for ADHD. Tooo much info in a too short time, that equals overwelming and the "I'll do this!... I need a plan!... Nah, maybe tomorrow". I don't blame you. The video is good.
I wish I found this video earlier, 2 months precisely. I am currently taking a cs course at Berkeley, barely passing because I decided I to smoke weed and drink every weekend. It’s better just to stay away from this stuff altogether, no matter how disciplined you are.
hey man, i am ineed doing everything you said and i am not yet ahead of the 99% but i know that if i will be proceedig this way i feel it i am very close, see you in the other side (fyi i roled up to your course please reply)
Aman Manazir - do you feel happy with your life right now? Do you think you're more, less, or just as happy as those who aren't as successful as you in their career?
