Not to say people should complain all the time about it, but even back in the late 2000s, owning a home required "being extraordinary". Not "owning Leno's car garage" and not "owning a cathedral". Owning a single family home. There is a problem with this, and that's coming from someone who rents out a few of them. Blackstone, Blackrock and the rest of the WEF have a monopoly on "middle class living". You are chasing lambos and ferraris, when you should be chasing night vision and high end rifles. Something bad is possibly in store for us. The WEF absolutely loathes the U.S., because we're the only country that can put up an effective fight. If you're going to rat race, do it to preserve standard of living. Vacuum sealers, O2 absorbers, mylar, water bricks, ammo cans, armor, shelving and more shelving. You can't eat a lambo.
@manictiger

Oh and to destroy anyone that wants to "hurr tinfoil hat", look up "ESG" and look up "ESG Larry Fink". They who control the corporations, control the governments, control the world. Don't chase dollars. Chase items. They can't print infinite gold, ammo (I wish they'd try, because it'd make it cheaper) or food. They can't print land. They can't print your mind.

Most billionaires DID NOT struggle to start a business. And that's not an opinion, we have actual DATE on social mobility. social mobility is very low. Most people are "old money". And even those who did got RICHER weren't POOR when they started. That's BS according to data, sorry. Machiavelli himself said in The Prince that ALL depends on "fortuna" and "virtù". and go on with MANY examples where stupid people got power because of sheer luck and talented people failed against unthinkable odds. Videos like that only focus on "virtu. That's half or even less of the picture.
@njux1871
@njux1871 Год назад
@@JohnnyLynnLee Thanks for saying that. It keeps getting put under the rug. Rich people get richer, usually. Not only there, either, even in the arts it's usually people from already wealthy families becoming successful. It is absolutely possible to get ahead if you're poor. It's just bazillion times harder, includes a LOT of luck, and your success isn't as sure as people like you to believe. But to be fair, if you're not committed to trying, you will never succeed. That's just not an excuse to not want change in an unjust society in which being successful is vastly determined by how rich your family is. But that too shouldn't stop you from trying.

@VesperAegis

Valid criticism can come from a variety of sources, perhaps especially those we otherwise wouldn't take advice from. These types of universalisms just aren't helpful, because everyone is different and a unique perspective and life experience can occasionally, even if we assumed the person was failing, offer a vantage point that you haven't thought of before. In fact, sometimes it's exactly that failing - and even that jealousy - that can offer you a unique insight into something that you have overlooked in your own success and avoid their pitfall.

Some key takeaways: - Living an ordinary life will not lead to an extraordinary life. - People who criticize you for trying to be exceptional are usually those who have already accepted mediocrity. - It's important to use your unfair advantages to your benefit to get ahead of 99% of people. - Hard work alone won't make you successful, but a combination of your unfair advantages, hard work, grit, patience, and consistency will. - To create an extraordinary life, take full responsibility for your actions and decisions, stop blaming external factors, and focus on the things you can control.
@dawn-of-newday

The fact that only 1% can be the 1% and not everyone else should be taken into account either. Because there is a reason why only 1% is that many people and not the other way around. NOT EVERYONE CAN ACHIEVE GREATNESS and EXCEL IN LIFE and one individual without being a self limitation, has to be aware and acknowledgeable of what he can or can not do, and where can he push things up to. Because frustration and bitterness can end up ruining your life, pushing and fighting for the 1% for the whole life... it's just a thought.

@@lukehodder4728 That actually depends a lot. If you have adhd and you get forced / manipulated into a job that doesn‘t fit / interest (e.g. because that job is safe, pays well, is respected by society, …) you it can f*** your health up pretty badly (can lead to burnout very quickly). Also, not everyone who has it get’s diagnosed. Really, it’s either a big advantage or disadvantage. Nothing in between. If your interested you will do great. If you find it boring you will be compensating so much for your lack of interest that it exhausts very quickly. It’s either hyperfocus (if your on the right path) or lack of interest (on the wrong path) that leads to an exhausting amount of masking yourselfsand compensating your symptoms until you burn out. @@lukehodder4728 well that‘s at least my experience. Everyone is different, including people with ad(h)d. If calculus really doesn‘t work for you (despite trying to focus and giving it your all) then it might not be for you. But it also depends how important calculus is in your job, training, studies, … If it‘s just a small part and the rest works good then I don‘t thing it‘s a good reason for quitting. In my case for example, I was bored by almost every task I had to do. That definitely wasn‘t for me. If the boring stuff would have been like only 25% or something like that I wouldn‘t have burnt out so quickly.

To anyone reading this, you are already in the top 1%. Not because you watched the video, but because you are. You are not just 99% but 100% different from others, and no one can beat that. Now, let’s get up, pick up that pencil, drink tea, sleep, run, talk… whatever you do, you are just one step more closer to your goal. You will be 101%! The intro did not fully resonate with me. Sure, no one can stop anyone from striving to be in the top 1%. I also find Ruri’s advices and info helpful. However, I would contemplate about having the “be in the top 1%” mindset - it could be toxic depending on how you process it. For example, there always will be a top 1% within that 1%; you can think of this statement negatively or positively, but either way you will always be striving for more. Here lies the issue; If you are not happy/fulfilled now, you will probably never be happy/fulfilled/successful (or whatever you desire in life). It’s ok to strive for the top 1% or even the best, but let’s make sure you have the right attitude toward this mindset. ❤

This was a really insightful watch! Hope I can write out another PoV, while not disagreeing with your PoV: I'm not a competitive person at all. I'm an ambitious introvert and don't concern myself with social circles / peers / competing. And so I cannot relate at all to the sentiment - "How to get ahead of 99% of people". All my life I've strived only to get ahead of myself, and who I was yesterday, and the day before that. I'm a Game Developer / Game Artist, and my portfolio / art / skills had to be reborn over and over before I succeeded after my entire 20-30s. I only held myself accountable and in competition with myself, and the success fell into place naturally. I don't look at someone else and think "I'm ahead of you", "I'm the top 1%", "I'll sleep better because you're beneath me". I mentor people who would be considered adversaries, and learn from them. Since I work in my own business / indie studio, seeing everyone succeed with me, means I succeed too. There's no incentive to 1up them. What I'm pursuing is such a niche, so people around me aren't competition. I don't think any less of someone who's a trucker, or laborer, or a farmer either. Every person plays a part that keeps the structure and fabric of civilization running around me like clockwork, so I can continue to make art. I'd also like to say, I'd like to be in the higher ~20-30% in terms of money, never 1-5%, because I can maintain a balance of leverage, and living life a little. In the last 20 years of struggling, there's nothing I really look back on fondly. I didn't date at all, didn't maintain friendships, my family is away from me, I just worked and worked and the world revolved around me, my health, my work, my money. What I see mediocre about someone basic, they'd also find mediocre things about me. Time is finite. I suceeded in career & money, and failed at everything else. They succeed at everything else, and failed at career & money. In my 30s I want to change that, prioritize the simpler things in life, and enjoy the returns of my hard work in balance while not being complacent. "A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness." - Albert Einstein.

Every time I try to treat your videos as typical motivational content, you always manage to move me with your sincerity and genuinely valuable insights. I once experienced a similar downfall in my family's financial situation, as you did. My stepfather gambled away every penny of our family's wealth, leaving my mother and me with millions in debt. However, like you, I didn't give up on myself. Thus, I deeply resonate with the past experiences you've shared. Regardless, I will officially start my RU-vid channel this week, and I hope that one day we can meet at the summit of a million subscribers.

If being ahead of 99% of people is something that brings you joy, then go for it! But please remember, not competing with others doesn't mean you're settling for average or being a loser. Success isn't just about outshining everyone. It's about finding what makes you happy and fulfilled. So whether you choose to strive for greatness or focus on personal growth, both paths are valid and deserving of respect.

We get your point. We have different values, but the video is talking about being on the top 1% and we all know what that means.. other people may settle for other things in life and value them more than a prosperous one and be part of the 99% and still be happy and feel successful, but the top 1% feels otherwise, they have the obligation to manifest their visions, no matter how high, that doesn't make us bad to be part of the 99% though, but to be part of top 1% , these people need to get out of bounds of the 99% group

@@supriadiburhan4748 There is everything wrong with being mediocre if you are given fame and fortune (within any field of human endeavour) on the erroneous and corrupt pretext that you are talented and deserving of it, when in fact you are as useless and undeserving of it as millions of other people. Life is not a "lottery" if you are born into the magic circle of the already rich and powerful: you will always win and cannot lose. Scarce resources that could be used to feed the starving being unjustly hoarded by people who are already super-rich.

I was born in 1960 and got my first laptop at 45 years of age. For the next 10- I really didn't know what to do with it other than surf the internet "when" I had internet access. I lived by the creativity of my hands. Cut to 2019, just before the pandemic, I finally got consistent internet and began to open my "digital" eyes. Holy cow! At first, it was coming to realize how much was out there, and how "far" behind I was as a 59-year-old. Since that time, I have been SOAKING IT UP LIKE A SPONGE"! One of the things I have come to learn is that-most of what I am learning is all from YOUNGER PEOPLE! Ruri- you are so inspirational to me, I can barely stand inside my skin! You're one of my informal professors at YOU-TOOB UNIVERSITY! It blows me away the reach that you, and others like you, have attained via RU-vid. Dear Ruri, this video was helpful indeed yet It can be like a double-edged sword. When seeing content or ideas like these one can quickly get into a mode of thinking that destroys each and evey effort one is trying to build. I struggled with this a LOT. You start to think that you are not good enough in everything you do. When I started this I was so ambitious and my stubbornness and tenacity failed me because I tried to lift more and more and trying to improve all kind of things all at once and overloaded because I was constantly thinking that what I do would not be good enough. But I realised that working hours isnt an option, making yourself wear out either. You have to get more out than you give in or otherwise It wont help you for example to study or work hard. Working smart is better than working hard and this fallacy really destroys mentally. Yet I dont know how to balance it. When I am low I do what I can and what is necessary yet when I get even a little bit of energy I again start to think to do everything all at once and overdoing it. I dont know if someone can relate but I will nevertheless try to build a life that is beautiful.

1:56 - 3:11 As someone who grew around the 1% (Potomac MD USA) and did K-12 with their kids in the 90s (1993-2005) when I came to the the USA from Jamaica, had to stop here! Saying nothing of the raw math that 100% of people can't fit the 1%. The other 99% that did all the things that the 1% did, yet didn't get into the 1%... are probably going to take umbrage that their finite life got wasted! However... First: Going to the gym is literally about getting 'fit'! No one goes to the gym for weeks, months, years, their entire life, expecting to look the exact same as the first day they walked in! All of what you claimed going to the gym was about, can be achieved just as much with far easier work (and with little if any risk of physical injury) by doing most anything else! Before anyone gets on my nuts, I've been going to the gym since 2013, I have vids up of me squatting 500lbs and deadlifting 600lbs, so save it! Second: Fact is there's no shortage of people that work infinitely harder, take responsibility and all the other foolishness you said, in countries in Africa, Asia, the mid east, etc. and they will never get more than the rich b!+ch - trust fund baby - @$$ holes in, say, California! I don't know how old you are, but all the people that you demonized at the beginning of the video are the ones that realize that playing a game that's already rigged so that you have a 75-99.99+% chance of losing, no matter what you do and of no fault of your own, is imbecilic! 'Learning the rules' and 'playing accordingly' instead of 'complaining and loosing' ...only to lose any way, because the game is rigged (and it is) is reet-harded! Lastly: Perhaps instead of the pawn - hamster wheel mindset that you posit, try asking - who (if not god or nature) is making the 'rules'?! - what makes that mortal human have the right to make rules for anyone but themself?! - why is it that this system with these 'rules' are the only... you know what, go watch 'Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal' on netflix! Start there! If the 1% did what they did in the documentary (and considering where I grew up... yeah they did, that documentary doesn't know the half of it), just for college, what chance does the 99% have, considering how hard they had to work just for the same admission?! No one is getting ahead of 99% and into the 1% unless they - lie - cheat - steal Following the rules and being fair and moral will only get one so far, and it's not in the 1%!

This all assumes "getting ahead" of 99% of people means being a millionaire with access to wealth, sex, and a lifestyle many will never attain. I have learned, as I've aged, that a simple life is much more appealing. I have no one in my life. I have no debt. I drive 20-30 year old vehicles, I own my house, I am in good shape, I cook for myself, I never eat out, I barely interact with other people. It's much better than the 99% of people out there striving so hard to get people they don't even know to be jealous of them. What a shallow existence.

I really liked the first point of how those that have achieved will understand what it takes behind someone else’s achievement. I’m working toward my personal physical fitness goals and I often hear others talk about how miserable it is to diet and unrealistic standards etc. and I’ve put a lot of work in building my body and still have more I want to achieve, I just hope people in the future won’t think that this came to me because I was naturally born thin in their eyes. I feel like they themselves would miss out on achieving great results for themselves if they don’t understand what goes into staying fit or getting fit. (Btw it was hard at first building the habit to achieve my goals. But now it is more enjoyable, even though it is still hard work)
