So is there anyway to run emulators on the wii without using the homebrew channel? I don't have constant internet connection so I guess I'm really asking if you have to internet connection to run emus?
I'm completely new to the homebrew and emulation on console scene and this was very easy for me to understand i managed to get gba, n64, and the nes on my wii!
Seriously I just found out about him after getting a cheapo wii and the first thing I did after watching the tutorial was to check if he had any other content. You have a way of speaking that really gels with me and I was also pretty shocked after seeing the sub count. Did we all just got lucky and stumbled upon some sort of diamond in the rough here?!? I'm subbing but hacking the wii to oblivion literally takes a day so I'm hoping to see just random ass content. What ever you're doing, keep doing that lol.
Super handy for figuring all these emulators! Thanks man I only ever set up game boy advance emulator on my phone now my wii got 250g flash drive filled with G.C. and wii roms and a 60g card filled with SNES roms NES, game boy, etc etc etc thanks a lot man
Dude thanks for this video. I know a lot of it seems basic but naming directories and dealing with .iso, the PSX Bios, etc. is all really good stuff that is really confusing to find good info on now that google sucks. Thanks earned a sub!
The Wii and Wii U are god-tier emulation machines and they're pretty cheap to buy :) easy to homebrew and runs such a massive game library flawlessly with a wide array of controllers and accessories that work.
Well said, I don't really care for third-party controllers though as far as a wiimote goes. But other than that in terms of how easy it is to install homebrew and what runs emulation was the Wii and Wii U are great systems
@@BelowAverageGaming Yeah, I'm still hunting for more nintendo original wiimotes and the attachment controllers. I'm pretty patient stocking up peripherals, controllers and whatnot. I got my gamecube controllers insanely cheap. I'm always buying if the price is right. We have a wii u and two regular wii plugged in so the good wiimotes keep moving around.
As far as third party goes I really don't mind the third party game controllers, a lot of the official ones you can find nowadays have a bit of analog stick drift and sometimes the analog stick itself is just loose in general. But that's if I'm playing emulators. If I'm playing something like Super smash I'll need an actual GameCube controller
Thanks to you man, i got my sega dreamcast, gamecube, and psx emulation workin! Psx is still a bit.... much for the wii, but some games work FLAWLESSLY. Thanks man
You don't need to make a folder for each game for the nintendont GameCube games. You also don't need to change the name of it. You just need to make sure its a straight iso. File not ciso. And not nkit either. Just straight iso. And the game can be left with the original name. It will work and run perfectly.
Last thing i messed with was rooting my android over ten years ago. And these wiis going cheap nowadays, ive never own a wii, now i got 3, and you my friend , are my best friend right now. Lmao. I need to get back into computers. . . I went for a semester of programming. . .wish i followed thru
@@BelowAverageGaming No problem. From one content creator to another: you should do a tutorial on how to install mgba to wii homebrew. Vba is good but i hear it's laggy on "3d" games and mgba runs almost all titles perfectly. Plus I can't find a tutorial video on it so i'm sure if you upload one it would get plenty of views
Thanks for the idea I'll definitely keep that in mind, I don't think I've ever seen anybody run it. I've tried an emulator like that on PC before but it never ran well so I'm actually pretty curious if it works on the wii
@@BelowAverageGaming for sure man, and yea letterbomb wasn’t showing up for me but it turns out it was because i was using an sd card with more than 32gb on it. Got it fixed now Thanks
This is great and all so thanks for putting together this tutorial - there's only one problem and that is PS1, Saturn and N64 are completely unplayable - poor framerate and poor controls - I've only got a wii remote so I'm screwed who thought that tilting the remote up and down to move the character on Goldeneye was a good idea? I'm aware you can configure the controls but I'm lazy and I've just done all this to get it working. Mega drive/game gear/master system all work ok - GBA, GBC and GB are all very slow - not sure if it's the emulation software or the hardware letting us down here? In my opinion your better off using an android tv box/nvidia shield EG retroarch or emuelec or even on your phone for better performance
Yo, Just an FYI, PS1 and N64 emulation are usually trash on consoles. I can't say I've tested all, but they run like dookie on the original Xbox and the Wii and the Wii U for the most part. There is a compatibility list for N64 games and PlayStation 1 games that will tell you what works on the Wii if you're interested PlayStation :. wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/WiiSX_compatibility_list_(beta_2) N64:. wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Wii64_Compatibility_List I would say this is due to the emulators not necessarily the hardware on the Wii. Personally I've never tried the Saturn so I don't have much to speak on that
I just finished doing this to mine. I found out if you have a memory card over 64gb and format it. You must get a 3rd party format tool in order to format in fat32 or the Wii won't recognize it. Also NES, and Gameboy won't recognize Roms in RAR files you must extract them.
If I were to put 5 system emulators on Gamecube,Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, N64 and Mane. I get atleast about 70 games for each system emu how much can a sd card hold? Also how much would I need to hold more games to play and save memory for?
@@BelowAverageGaming Oh ok the reason I asked is because. I used a 32gb flashdrive for my PS1 Mini and the bios and cd image took up alot of the storage space on my flashdrive. Thank you for the reply!
If you're planning on putting PlayStation 1 on this as well I would say get a bigger card, but again game cube games and PS1 games around roughly a gig or 2 each so they take up the most space. If you're planning on flooding the SD card with those games then yeah I'd get a bigger card maybe 64 gb Edit: And you're welcome anytime
when hacking a wii how do i make the games that are using the emulators (the roms for the games) to show on the usb loader gx menu. how do i transform them into wbfs files and put them on USB drive insted of the sd card?
I am using an external SSD drive for the games because all the games I downloaded is to big for the SD card. What do I have to do to play the games on the external and the saves?
soo i just tried to download my 5 games for the NES, (zelda 1,2, mario 1,3 and street fighter. I kept the files the same but they aren’t showing up as a WAD file? How do i make it into a wad file??
Could i play games using a USB flash drive? Like for gamecube, if i format to FAT32 and create a folder on the root called Games and just sort the iso’s correctly, will Nintendont read them fine?
I haven't personally tried it but I think it'll run fine, I know tons of people that run the GameCube games from an external hard drive. So if they can do that I'm sure a USB drive will work fine
Wii64 seemed to work until I tried loading ROM, it just says An error occured. I made folders for 2 n64 games on the SD card containing the rom file, not sure what's happening here, it's running great through homebrew just not loading roms unless I'm making a mistake
There's two ways you can accomplish that, 1. Scour the internet looking for them, they're called channel forwarders 2. This way is easier, use the open shop channel and download them straight off that
I'm sorry if this was asked already, but I came from the "homebrew channel without an SD card" video of yours. After I install the homebrew channel without an SD card, how do I install the emulators? The same way as in this video?
I have a question I want to put the game on front to open faster I think the call them channels I believe it's like that super smash bros one you ha e on yours
Hi, I plan on using my wii as an ultimate emulator machine. I do have a lot of roms for many systems though. Can I store the roms on the same external hard drive where I have the isos and run them from there? Or do I have to store them on the system or an sd card? I plan on emulating sega cd and ps1, so sd cards are not gonna make it, and I already installed a lot of stuff on mine, wouldn’t want to change sd cards and re-install everything. Thanks!
Tnx For You Tutorial Bro but One Question how to Put all The emulators on The Wii Main Menu like Homebrew Channel if U plz Make A Tutorial like This To Put All The Emulators on The Main menu
I already made a bunch of different tutorials with a couple different ways to do this. Check it out here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IubFwOIz1xg.html
@@BelowAverageGaming ok so i got like 8:25 into the video when i have to put games right only thing is the game i want budokai tenkaichi 3 is a rom not a wbfs i need help
For the Atrari 2600 you are saying to put the "wii 2600" folder in the "apps" folder on your SD card and the "Atari 2600" folder on your SD card? So you are putting the same folder in two different locations on your SD card? That means there are two different "roms" folders. Which one do you put your roms in?
@@BelowAverageGaming I got the Atari 2600 emulator running on my Wii. You mentioned that the roms must be in .rar format. Not only do they not have to be, they can't. .rar files will not run. I was just able to use the raw .bin files and they all run fine.
@@BelowAverageGaming Okay. The differences from setup to setup are interesting. I also got MAME and a C64 emulator running on my Wii. Thank you. This was very helpfull.
i would also like to clear and reset my Wii is there a right and wrong way to do it after its been modded, mines an original mod from well lets say when they were first modable
What about Wiiflow? I can’t figure that out for the life of me I put my Wii roms in the wbfs folder in the wiiflow folder and my roms don’t show up on my Wii with wiiflow but they show up on the sd card so i don’t know what I’m doing wrong on Wii flow
I did all the steps but it did not show up on my wii homebrew. Any tips? i don't want to just give up yet. I put the sd card in and boom nothing there.
Make sure your SD card isn't locked (check the switch on the card) If it's not showing up still then I'm willing to bet that you didn't place the programs in the right spot of the SD
My Wii games were downloaded in a wbfs format and GameCube games were downloaded in a FAT32 but GameCube games couldn’t be flipped into a wbfs format and wouldn’t open to be played. Used vimm's lair and gxloader. How can I solve this issue? Tried nintendont aswell.
If you're playing it on Wii, there is no such thing as a Wii emulator. The only other way would be to play backups of games which you can check out here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9ivOIzIZWTk.html
Hey can you do a video for the dolphin emulator I got all the others from homebrew browser but dolphin isn't on there and I can't get it on my sd card from my pc for some reason
@@BelowAverageGaming oh ok I tried to put that on my wii so I could play downloaded wii games because a lot of wii games now are pretty expensive plus when I played wii games on dolphin on my pc I could use cheats it's just a pain playing wii games on pc
You can still play Wii games backed up on the Wii. It just doesn't take an emulator to use them. This video might be up your alley ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9ivOIzIZWTk.html
@@BelowAverageGaming There are only 3 channel installers for emulators in the emulator hombrew browser app. If i dpwnload Mame emulator ftrom the homebrew browser app, how do i add it to the wii menu? or do i have to delete it and add mame as a wad and then use wii mod lite to install it to the wii main menu? thanks.
Would I be able to do the basic emulators (like nes and snes) without a computer? I have a 32gb micro SD card with an SD card adapter so I can put it into my Wii. So could I download those emulators and put my roms into the SD card from my phone instead of a computer? Edit: also how would getting Wii roms on it work???
You can for the most part do it on your phone for emulators like NES and SNES You'll need a way to take the files from your phone and put them on the SD and then the SD to your Wii To my knowledge microSD doesn't work that well and you're better off just using a standard SD but you can still give it a shot I don't think you'll be able to do Wii games on your phone
@@BelowAverageGaming alright thanks! I've already moved roms to an SD card for my modded 3ds using my phone so I wasn't sure if the thing would work for the emulators at all or if it would practically be the same
So the gamecube emulater doesnt allow for saving since i think there was no save file in the games section we created. Would that be solved if i added a saves file to the nintendont files or would i actually need a memory card to save those games
Everything should save to the SD card. You can try adding a saves folder but there should have been one from the start. Sometimes one can get created after trying to actually save the game too
@DeathAdder7 yea idk it just worked for me afterwards. There was no save settings button i just hit the same button I used to open the menu to leave and start playing games
@DeathAdder7 yes the n64 does kind of suck lol. At least super Mario 64 works without a hitch. Sad that the 3 Mario parties flicker mad crazy could give an epileptic a terrible episode
