How to Get an A in Math 

dose anyone find they can do the problems in class absolutely fine but when it comes to the exam they have no idea how to solve it?

I just got a 98 on my Calc 3 test :D following similar steps, and I suck at math. It's all about practice.

I'm terrible at math. I'm great at essays, I'd rather write thousands before doing a single math sheet. The thing is, I get the concept of whatever the unit is, but I get it slower than everybody else, and in my school (and country in general) it's the majority over the individual. but this was actually helpful!

It doesn't matter how hard I try. My grades get worse and worse by every test I do. I don't want to fail and that's the reason why I finaly fail. While I'm in class I find it easy but when I begin with the test I feel so bad and I forget everything.. All the rules. Everything. And It seems like I'll never gaduate, only because of math. Is there somebody out here with some tips?

I got a C in maths lol. It was hard though! And I've always found it a difficult subject.

I'm Jefferson and I am grade 10 high school student...when I'm in elementary, I always get low scores in math...math is the worst subject for me, but I never gave up to study math because my only goal is to get an average score..I always exposed myself in math solving, asking my teachers and classmates when I can't understand the lesson and the result is more than what I expected about math....now I am highschool, I've always been a best in math in our section, I always get 90 in math and 92 is the highest and I also belong in 3rd place math quiz bee competition in our school...My techniques are HARDWORKING, CURIOUSNESS, and EXPOSING MYSELF IN MATH...MATH IS CHALLENGING!

what really helped to get a 100 out of 100 in my math exam are those tips: 1-you need to understand every freaking little thing and focous while your teacher is explaining 2- in your text book there are examples and stuff so try to solve every thing in your text book 3-you need a quiet place without people but with a little bit of a noise so you won't fall sleep lol that's it! and thank you so much for the awesome tips

I can average 20 page research paper in a night, thats about 5 hours. Getting An A or B+, however when it comes to a 10 problem calculus assignment it takes 1-2 days, math hates me😭

I don't see why everyone is so surprised that you're allowed to use calculators... I mean, my teacher's been letting us use calculators the whole year for Algebra 1 :P Unless they're all just in like elementary school, when they were just learning arithmetic, like addition and multiplication.

With Math I kind of feel like i get the main ideas of the chapters and after some practice I can sove the example questions and homework questions right but even if I study my butt of for a Math test I just can´t get over a D which sucks for my motivation. I began to feel like it´s useless to study for these tests.

A most sincere guide to learning a difficult subject.

Since 5th grade, I have struggled in math. I luckily had a great math teacher in 5th grade that really helped me but in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade I really struggled with basic math concepts such as simplifying equations. I got by with lots of extra credit and participation points in 6th and 7th grade. In 8th grade, I got a new teacher who was much stricter with extra credit and participation points. She thought I was a slacker and a slow learner. After term one in her class, I switched to online math. At first I was really nervous and regretted switching, but after a few days I loved it. I am not struggling at all and have a 99% in the class. Next year I plan on taking more classes. Switching was the best choice I have ever made about my education.

This is excellent. What I hated was my high school White teachers deliberately giving me slightly under the A range on numerical tests so I would get B the second semester. So basically my grade was rounded down since they were not in a plus or minus system which later block me for AP courses. Know your teachers. Personally I wish the day when there are no teachers. Just the textbook, workbook, homework, answer sheets during the quizzes to perhaps some cloud step by step answers just in case there is a student who does not understand how to go from step 4 equation to step 5 equation. Many authors skips steps assuming you kept the textbook from the prerequisite or assume you took it last semester were you could have taken it a year back because is full or work or life changes. Hopefully this helps. I rewrite my equations backwards the second time and always be the last one out. Meaning be the first one to finish the test then rewrite the equations backwards to see if the answer is correct then just wait for the second to the last student then turn in your test. With statistics write and rewrite the equations the draw the graphs. However the analysis is tricky. This is probably weird but relax because getting the"bright" analysis is different then getting the technical correct. I don't know if that helps think of it as critical thinking answers. what is sad is sometimes a day later you finally understand the problem. Hope this help. I hate for people to make the same mistake I did.

I wish it was that easy. ;-; I had a terrible experience at the math lab on my campus and i refuse to go back there. And my professor has an accent so whenever I do ask for help, I can't really understand him. He's one of those professors who lectures and expects you to know how to do it without practice. We do have a T.A which I'm so grateful for like you don't even know. But I'm gonna try and make a study guide for this mid-term because I need to pass! Thanks for the tips!

I'm trying to pass my math 131 class in community college since I failed it 2 semesters ago. The thing with me is how to pass with an A or a B+ in that class. Learning all the rules and concepts. The level of the math is Intermediate Algebra.

I live in India and here we aren't allowed to use calculator anyhow. We're supposed to do the hardest of the calculations in our head. NO calculator anywhere (for students).

What I’m really struggling on is area of pollalagrams and poylgans it’s so hard I have a E on it and if I don’t get better I might fail 6 grade and I have a D+ in Social studies A in science C in Lang arts. And D- in writing 😰😨

I use TI-Nspire which is more advanced and it can solve many problems, but don't depend on it...

Calculators definitely help. Especially when you get into higher math classes. I just finished calculus 5 and the problems in that class take forever, so having a calculator reduces time spent on a problem during a test!

Math is all about exposure. It is a skill. The more you do it, the better you get. There are no shortcuts to math.

how to study for forgein language?

I have monday my math exam to get my diploma (so I'm really not allowed to fail!) but now I realize I've been only doing the problems that I understand! Good that I watched this video again haha

I loooove math but I almost failed it and im currently in a small group with people who has failed/almost failed with 7 people. Its suuper basic math but its helpful. Im 15 soon 16 and Im hoping to get into IB but im super nervous.

These might work for a first semester first year course, but there comes a point where learning by examples alone means you're missing most of the key ideas, and you'll get questions I the exams that you don't know how to do because you haven't seen an example of them. Also most higher math courses don't allow calculators.

How to be good at math........practice, practice, practice and embrace it.

Calutoer in the lower nath they do not want you to use but when you get up to the upper in nath. Use your calutoer at lot more In cal 2 you use it a lot me buy also but by hand

every test i take it’s hit or miss whether i get an A or not. i’m never consistent on how i study for a test bc i become cocky thinking “oh i got an A on the test last term i’ve got this in the bag.” ive got big dumb energy sometimes

for science papers go onto the rpi Intel science fair and go onto student forms. they help

Have you ever had to use the mathematics program? My professors use it in calc 1 and up. It kinda forces students to learn basic programming while attempting to solve problems.

calculus is a joke. try taking a real analysis proof course. you'll know what real math is about. calculus is the watered down version of real analysis.

In my Calculus class, the first two exams we weren't allowed a calculator... :/ The last two (last midterm and final) we were only allowed calculators that are the most basic calculator ever, so that sucked.. but I got through it! :D

Help this morning i checked my grades i had a C- and then i checked my grades this afternoon I had a F. Can anyone please help on how to get a B because i want to pass my grade.

shit, the new 9 weeks just started and I already have a 71 in math, although there was only 2 grades in there and only one was bad, I just took a test in there and I'm pretty sure I did bad on it, and right now Im grounded from my phone because I got a 75 i n english on my report card, so I can already tell i'm not going to have my phone for a while.

Iv have a dream to become a banker since year 8. I'm in year 11 now and a half year away from my gcse. Iv got a D for maths in my mocks :(. I need an A/A* to take maths. oh and by the way the best calculator for me is the ti89. Now thats the best calculator i've ever used and saw so far so I would recommend you to try that out I think you'll love it.

Calculators are kind of obsolete nowadays, computer algebra systems are a much better tools for learning. I've used wolframalpha and can't recommend it enough for people, it's really amazing (Google it). Also, using something like GeoGebra is a wonderful tool for graphing.

vectors is linear algebra? i wish i could use a calculator... i brought my ti-84plus with me and realised im no longer allowed to use it... :( i used to love my calculator so much when i took the ib - its basically essential for hl maths...
