Many tourists rent a car when they come to Costa Rica. Not Us!
we saved a ton of money traveling costa rica without a car by taking the local buses. It wasn't SUPER easy, but we made it work, and I would recommend it!

Is a little tricky but no impossible, I see a lot of negative videos about the Public Transportation in Costa Rica, but you guys doing that like part of the Costa Rica Experience no matter it was 3 buses 1 boat or even horse back. I really like the positive energy. 🇨🇷👍🆒

By bus, it's possible to go from the Alajuela airport to to downtown San Jose then any town in C.R. for under $20. It costs that much just to breath the air in a car rental shop.

Ah nice I remember I went from Sámara to san José and I thought was at the tracopa bus station in san José but it turned out it was the warehouse and wasted one hour of walking. On top of that I had to take the bus later and arrived at my hostel to late so I had to sleep outside! Great adventure that was!

You can take a bus out in front of the airport into the city for about 1-2 dollars vs. a $40 taxi ride. Also do your research because in San Jose there are multiple bus stations that all go to separate parts of the country. It can be a little confusing.
