Enjoy the video. I going to Madrid in September. Do each adult need to purchase a Tourist Travel Pass? I have seen videos of people sharing the pass.
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
I’m glad you enjoyed the video, Alex, thank you for watching and dropping a comment 😊 I went to Madrid in September, too, and the weather was perfect - sunny and warm! ☀️ To answer your question, there are rules for how many people can use a single card depending on what type of pass you purchase. - If you load a single or 10-journey ticket (not the combos), you can share the pass as long as you enter and exit at the same time and have enough tickets to cover the expense. This is because you are allowed to load multiple single or 10-journey non-combo passes on a single card. - If you purchase the tourist travel pass, however, each adult needs to have their own card because you are only allowed to load one tourist pass at a time. You can only load another pass to the card once the tourist travel pass expires. For more info on what ticket types are compatible with another to combine for sharing a pass, here’s a link to the official Metro Madrid site, Click the “Compatibility of the different ticket types” section: www.metromadrid.es/en/travel-in-the-metro/card-types Sorry that was a long answer, but I hope this helps! ❤️

it sounds a bit complicated for a tourist. In Brussels you just scan your credit card every time you enter and exit and that was it, you are being charged correctly and also cheap!

This is so confusing! It's not your fault, Antoinette. I appreciate your video. It's Madrid's fault - they probably have the most confusing transit fare system I've ever encountered! I will only be staying in Madrid for a few days. Staying mostly in zone A using the metro. So I don't know if the €12,20 10-ticket journey will work with the subway!
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 4 года назад
I completely understand Rivenade! It took me a while - quite a long while - to understand the MANY different options, but I’m so thankful all the planning paid off when I landed in the city. I had more time to explore 👏🏽😊 The 10-Journey Metrobús ticket (NOT the “bus+bus” 10-journey ticket) works on the metro, but if you’re coming from the airport you’ll have to add a €3 fee (1-way) to reach the city center. This is where a Tourist card in Zone A might be worth considering. I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a great time in Madrid. The food, Art, culture, and vibe will make up for the confusing transportation options 😋

@@FrolicAndCourage Hi, I do have some question about the 10 Trip metrobus ticket 12.20€(not the bus-bus ticket), let say I still have few trip left from the 10trips. If I use the metro back to the airport from city center zone A should I just add a 3€ airport fee on any metro station? Or I have to buy single ticket with airport fee?

Such a great video as I'm going soon...if I buy a 3 day tourist pass for the metro at 9pm does it the end at the same time 3 days later.
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 4 года назад
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, GXgaming! 😊 The tourist pass is valid “for consecutive calendar days starting at the time of your first validation”. So the time you purchase the card doesn’t really matter, it’s the consecutive days that count! For example, if I purchase a 3-day pass on Monday at 7am (or even 7pm), it will expire on Wednesday at 11:59pm for regular transportation. That’s three consecutive calendar days. Keep in mind one exception- if you take night transportation your card will be valid until night transportation ends, so 5am Thursday morning if you take a night bus. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!!

@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Thanks for the compliment, Henry! 😀 The Abono card, or "El Abono Turístico de Transporte" roughly translates to "The Tourist Transportation Pass" in English. It is the same as the Tourist Pass, where you have an unlimited amount of trips on the metro, light rail, bus, and Carcanias trains in either Zone A or T for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 7-days. I hope this helps and I believe you will have an exciting time in Madrid, it's such a lively city! Thanks again for watching!

@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Hi Kriti! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for checking it out! It’s nice to see all the options the city of Madrid has for transportation but I totally understand the more options you have, the harder it is to decide! I’d take a look at your itinerary and see how far each destination is from the other. Would you use all of the tickets in a 10-journey pass in one day? Are the sites so close you could walk, meaning all you need is to pay for is airport transportation? Could an 8,40€ pass for a 1-day tourist card be the easiest and most cost-effective solution? If you see yourself using public transport more than a few times AND want the flexibility of taking a bus, metro, light rail, etc, AND want the convenience of not paying for the TTP Card or airport supplement, the 8,40€ tourist pass for 1-day in Zone A could be the cheapest option. But again, it all depends on what you want to do and how you want to go about doing it 😊 I hope this helps!! - Antoinette

@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Hey Deepak! You’re welcome, thanks so much for watching 😊 To check which zone covers a specific address, I locate the address on an online map (like google maps) then search for the nearest metro stop. Next, I’ll locate the metro map and search for that stop because it lists stops by zones 😁 If the address is outside of the metro zone map it’s a little harder - if that’s the case I’d email/call whoever is at that address and ask for the zone. Hope this helps! - Antoinette

@FrolicAndCourage 4 года назад
Thank you for watching, Sara! I didn't read anything regarding the validity of the 10-journey tickets, so you should be able to use the 10-journey tickets over multiple days until your 10 journeys run out. If I recall correctly, the same-day limitation applies only if you purchase a SINGLE journey ticket. I hope this helps and hope you have a great trip to Madrid next week! 😀

You’re welcome, Aymen! Three nights in the city center will be a lot of fun 😊 To answer your questions: Children under 4 do not need a ticket, but you must purchase a ticket for kids 4 and older. @FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage Год назад
Hey Ashish! I’d say the buses will probably be the most accessible option as they are equipped with lifts. You must flag down the busses so be sure to be seen in the curb. During peak times the bus may be crowded, but other than that accessibility should be be a major issue. The metro is a different story. Only select stations have lifts (some lifts may work, some may be broken, maybe 50-75% of all stations) and the rest do not. There is a list of accessible stations here www.metromadrid.es/en/accessibility if you want to check it out before your trip. I hope this helps!

You’re welcome, Patrick! That’s a tough call! Do you plan on taking the bus more than the metro? How late do you plan on staying out? I used the tourist pass - it gave me peace of mind AND was the cheapest option because I wanted to see a lot. I’d make a list of what you want to see, mark the location on a map, and see if there’s a bus, metro, or ML stop nearby. @FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
No worries, Jessilynn! I understand navigating a new place can be confusing, especially when there are SO MANY different ways and costs to travel around a city...plus every person's preferences, length of trip, and interests are different. I will do my best to help and let me know if you have any other questions 👍 I mentioned a few acronyms & transportation options briefly towards the beginning of the video. One of them was the "Cercanías Renfe" rail, which is the suburban commuter rail train where lines are labeled from C1 to C10. The C1 and C4 google is referring to is the Cercanías Renfe train system, so you will need to purchase a Renfe train ticket 😊. It looks like google suggests taking the C1 train from the airport to the Nuevos Ministerios stop, then transfer to the C4 train to exit at the Sol station - Plaza Mayor is less than a 5 minute walk. Just follow these steps in reverse to get back to the train station; I believe these trains operate from around 5am to midnight. Here's a link from the Madrid transportation system's website (English translation) that might help: www.crtm.es/billetes-y-tarifas/billetes-y-abonos/cercanias-renfe.aspx?idPestana=1&lang=en#item0 And here's another link I found that will help explain how to purchase tickets: www.madrid-traveller.com/cercanias-train-tickets/ Sorry for the long response, but I hope this clears things up a little bit more. If you have any questions feel free to ask! There are a lot of dining and shopping options around the area - I hope you have a great time at Plaza Mayor!

Hi Sashakyo85 👋🏽 Another traveler had a similar question, so I’ll take part of the response to address your question 😊 There are rules for how many people can use a single card depending on what kind of pass you load. - If you load a single or 10-journey ticket (not the combos), you can share the pass as long as you enter and exit at the same time and have enough tickets to cover the expense. For more info on what ticket types are compatible with another to combine for sharing a pass, here’s a link to the official Metro Madrid site, Click the “Compatibility of the different ticket types” section: www.metromadrid.es/en/travel-in-the-metro/card-types The site is very helpful and I hope this answers your question ❤️

Would it be possible to trafsfer from one train to another within one trip or it will be treated as the two sepparate trips? I am thinking of buying 10-JOURNEY COMBO TICKET. Would it be aproppiate for my needs?
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 4 года назад
Hi Hubert! Metro Madrid doesn't really define what a "journey" entails, which makes it difficult to answer your question. However, typically a "journey" is defined as entry to exit point in most other countries. If you enter the metro at one point, exit to transfer stations, then enter again that would be considered two tickets. In another situation, if you never exit the station but transfer trains inside the station, it's considered one journey. Another thing to consider is if you are traveling from the airport to get to your hotel in zone A - with the 10-journey combo ticket you have to purchase a 3 euro each way ticket in addition to the pass. One way to avoid counting exit/entry points would be to buy a tourist card for zone T (covers all zones). This is an unlimited pass that may be cheaper if you are spending just one day in Madrid. Sorry about the length of this answer, but I hope this helps!
