Your video is so detailed! I've watched so many videos about public transport in Paris, they got between 60k and 400k views but they weren't as interesting as yours! Thank you so much for sharing those tips. That will definitely help!

Best. Information. Video. On Paris metro. Ever. Seriously, as a parisian, this is the most precise and accurate one i saw, avoiding a lot of misconceptions i've too much heard. If i could add something, I'd add : - A t+ ticket is, for the road network, have virtually unlimited validity and connections number (not only one as you implied)... as long as you take your last bus/tram before the 90 minutes deadline, this last trip can last hours. - It's a misconception that the t+ ticket is valid on zone 1 and 2. It's even nearly not related to the zone system. In short : Bus/tram network, no zone limit, except on special fare lines (Noctiliens, 350, 351...). Metro/Rer, all metro network (which extend up to zone 3) but limited to zone 1 for RER. So you can't go to the Stade de France (zone 2) by rer with a t+... but you can by metro ; same for La défense (zone 3). - If you want, i know some cheap ways to go to the airports for few or even one t+ ticket.

Hello, any updates? Where you able to get the Navigo Découverte pass?
@theoryadventures
@theoryadventures 5 лет назад
This is SUCH an informative video! Thank you so much for posting. To clarify, we are heading to Paris, arriving on a Wednesday leaving on a Monday - do you recommend the Navigo pass? If I heard you correctly, we would be able to use the pass from Wednesday - Sunday, and could use the T+pass on Monday?!? Additionally, when we fly into CDG, if they have the Navigo on hand, we would be able to use that into the city center vs. having to get on the RER, right?!? So many questions to pick your brain with!!! Thanks for the insight!
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Thank you so much for the positive comments and for watching!! 😁 great questions, too! You are correct- if available, you could use the Navigo Découvert pass immediately from the airport to jump on the RER train into Paris and use until Sunday night. On Monday you would need to use t+ tickets to get around the city AND an airport ticket to get you back to CDG. To see if the pass is worth it, I’d look at my itinerary, estimate how many individual trips I’d make Wed-Sun, then multiply the number of trips by the cost of a t+ ticket (don’t forget to add the cost of an airport ticket, too). This can tell you which is the best financial option and help determine what works best with your schedule. Good luck and I hope this helps! Bon voyage!! 😊👍🏽❤️

I felt the same way before I left for Paris, too, but the fear went away the more I learned a few key French words (like “pardon me”, “left”, “right” and “where is ....”). I prepared as much as I could, had a physical map, and a fully charged phone with google translate ready to go! Paris was super easy to navigate and all the locals I met were friendly, with a majority of the younger folks fluent in French and English. You’ll have a great time if you go and the fear will disappear once you see the beauty of Paris ❤️ you’ve got this!!

Thank you so much for this video! I simply did not know about the Navigo Decouvert option! I am planning on a 5 day visit from Monday through Friday, so for me getting from Airport to Paris to Disnelyand during this time should only need me to get a Navigo Decouvert right?! We have tickets to go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower. Can you help because it appears so confusing right now. I did enjoy your above video. We appreciate any help/assistance. We are leaving California this coming week on 10/10/2019.

@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Hi Richard! I will not be able to make a video in time for your trip, but if you enter your destinations in google maps (in the order you want to see them), you will find the fastest routes as well as what type of transportation you need. With that said, it will take 45min - 1hr just to go from Orly to the Eiffel Tower using public transportation, not including the time it takes to go through the airport. 7 hours is a short window of time to see everything, but you can probably cut your commuting time in half by taking a taxi, although it will cost much more than a train or metro.

Hi Nina! It depends on where else you plan to travel - look at your itinerary and count how many times you will travel using public transportation then multiply it by the cost of a single ticket. That should give you a great idea of the price but the time it takes to travel vs time at your destination matters, too 😊

Hi Kimberly! Thank you so much for watching 🥰 I'm not well-versed with the accessible parts of the Paris public transportation system, but the best suggestion I have is to use a digital map (Google or apple maps, etc.) to plan your route. Then go to the RATP's Network Accessibility site (www.ratp.fr/en/accessibility/network-accessibility) to see which trains, metro stations, and bus routes are accessible. You can also ask the station attendants for guidance and/or assistance if need be.

Hi Kartini! I don’t have experience taking the roissybus so I’m not sure, but make sure there is enough space for luggage and that it makes sense time-wise. Taking large luggage on the RER is doable but it will be cramped.

Cheap hotel or good hostel. Get a metro pass for the number of days you will be there; a must. It will take you one day to learn the Metro System. Just do it. Best investment in your trip you can make. You must rent a pocket wifi. This will allow you to Google map to every place you want to go. No need to think. It will give you step by step directions. Get a metro pass and rent a pocket wifi. You will not be sorry.

Your information is so very helpful. I am visiting Paris this August and plan on buying a Navigo Découverte. Do I have to present a signed face photograph of myself at the time of purchase to put in the card? Is this a compulsory requirement to purchase this. Also I believe it covers Zones 1-5 ? Also do you know if this card can be purchased from a booth at CDG airport ? Thank you and hope to hear back from you.
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Thanks, Jude! August is right around the corner which means your trip to Paris is coming up soon 😀 To answer your questions, you don't have to present a photograph, but after you purchase the pass you are responsible for attaching it yourself. Yes, the pass can cover zones 1-5, just ask for it at the airport, at CDG Terminal 2. Look for the SNCF “Billets Paris et Ile-de-France” Office. Good luck and I hope you have a fabulous trip! - Antoinette

If you arrive on a Friday that's tough, Rita - it all depends on your itinerary. I would add the cost of each individual trip you want to take (RER, metro, bus, etc) then I'd compare it to the price of the passes (carnet, paris visite, etc). From there you can see what will save you the most money💰

I don’t think I can use Navigo pass since If I buy it I can only use for the following week. Do you have suggestions? I will be visiting some places from zone 1 through zone 5. Was thinking if it’s good idea just to buy paper tickets? Do you know about Navigo easy pass? Thanks!
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Hi Wieke! If there’s an RER train near you I would look into buying a few tickets to take you to the different zones. Also, while in Paris check out the t+ and carnet tickets and possibly consider the Paris Visite pass. I’ve briefly heard of the Navigo easy pass that might replace paper fare cards. It’s similar to a London Oyster card where you load money (prepaid fares) or a day pass to the card for use. Hope this helps! Antoinette

Hi! I plan on arriving in paris on a saturday (by train) and i am under 26. i would like to use the new navigo easy on which i can load different tickets. Would it be possible for me to purchase and load the 10 carnet on the card on the first day, and use that for the next 5 day except for sunday(the following day) on which i would be using the youth travel pass(valid 1 day, because i would be going around the city more since i have a whole day). Will the card be able to use the carnet on saturday, my youth pass on a sunday and leave the rest of the 10 carnet to be used for monday, tuesday, wednesday. I know, it's complicated haha

Hi Veronika! I’m new to the Navigo easy pass so I haven’t tested this myself, but from what I read you should be able to use both. Once the day pass is activated it takes precedent and will be used. Once the day pass is over the rest of your single tickets will be used. I can’t guarantee it, but that’s what I’ve read. Good luck and please let us know how it goes!! ❤️

Hey there! Thanks so much for watching and I'm so glad you found the video helpful 🙂 I don't believe you can use the pass to go from CDG to Bordeaux city - it would require a TGV train ticket (I'm not familiar with TGV). As for the pass, it requires a photo that is slightly smaller than passport size (3 x 2.5cm). It helps to have the photo ahead of time but there are photo booths at some stations in the area. Hello! Enjoyed your vlog. 1.What travel pass or transportation option would you recommend for someone staying in Paris for only 20 hrs? I arrive at 230pm and leave next day at 10am... 2. Obviously I won't be able to enjoy all the daylite hours, what do you recommend I do/see? Thank you!! 😀
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Hello Yliana! I’m so happy you found and liked my video, thank you!! This is a tough question - it all depends on what you want to see and how often you will ride the metro/bus/train. The biggest expense is getting to/from the airport to the city center (assuming you’re flying into Paris). If you’re flying in, on one hand there are 1- and 2-day passes (like the Paris Visite) pass that you could use to cover airport transportation (zones 1-5), but they will cost since you are arriving at 2:30pm. Those passes are for unlimited use of the transportation network and are valid from 0h-24hrs, so you would have to buy the 2-day pass for zones 1-5 in order to get to/from the airport and around the city for around €38. There’s also the option of buying two Airport tickets (€20,60 for two tickets each way) then a few t+ tickets as needed (€1,90/each). If you arrive before Friday, the Navigo Découvert pass would be around €27,80 and includes airport transportation but again, it all depends on how often you will use the system during your 20hr trip 🙂 For what to do... there’s still a lot to do in 20hrs! You can do an evening bike or walking tour to catch the highlights of the city. You can climb up the Eiffel Tower, check out an evening performance (play, music, cabaret, opera, ballet, etc), or eat as much as you can (chocolates, pastries, croissants, anything). Depending on the day you arrive, you may be able to see a museum during extended opening hours (on certain days some museums are open until 9pm) or you can just stroll along the city. There’s also the Catacombs or just hanging out at a café/restaurant with outdoor seating. Whatever you pass you choose and whatever you choose to do, I wish you the best 20hrs in Paris imaginable!! 😁❤️

Hi there, thanks for the amazing video. If I am landing at the airport at 8am on Monday , do I just buy the navigo pass and use it on the RER to get to the hotel? Also is it normal to travel with suitcases on these trains?
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 3 года назад
Hey Akshay! Yes, you are correct - on Monday you can buy a Navigo Decouvert and use it on the RER trains if they have the passes available. When I rode, there were a lot of people coming from the airport and I saw a good amount of suitcases on the train. The smaller the bags the easier it will be. I had a large suitcase and the seats were on the smaller side, so I had to really keep my bag close and out of the aisles...but then again, so did everyone else!

Thank you so much for this video - great info. Our family of 4 are traveling from London to Paris Gare du Nord for the first time in August. We arrive in Paris Monday afternoon and go back to London Thursday evening. We are planning to book a hotel near Pigalle. While in Paris, we plan to see most of the attractions in Zone 1 and considering going to Versailles Palace (Zone 4) one afternoon. Do you recommend we purchase the Navigo pass for our 4-day visit? I assume this pass is all we need for our entire trip transportation needs, including to and from Paris Gare du Nord to our hotel - please confirm. Can this Navigo pass be purchased from Paris Gare du Nord station? Also, please clarify if Navigo "Discovery" card is optional for recharging that costs 5 extra Euros on top of the Navigo card (22.80 Euros). Once again, thank you so much for the info!

You’re welcome, Fauja! Thank you for watching and commenting 😊 If you arrive at Gare du Nord you should be able to pick up a Navigo Découvert pass at the metro station window from a metro employee. Yes, you must first pay 5€ for the card + fares to use it and it is rechargeable 👍🏽 If you plan on using public transportation a lot during your four days - enough to justify the cost- I recommend it, but if most of the things you want to see are close to each other I’d consider walking or buying a carnet or two for the family to share. I hope his helps!! ❤️

Good informative video. Paris was a bucket list trip for me also, went in 2018 going back this year. I remember that the Navajo pass was in my research but we didn’t do it, will give it another look. We splurged on our airport transportation because we wanted to be as hassle free as possible after the long flight and starting our trip. So we booked a private car service and it was wonderful! I travel with my sister so we split the costs on things like transportation . I did countless hours of research for our trip . If anyone is thinking about getting the Paris Pass let me know because I can give you some tips for getting it for much less than you’ll see it advertised and for using it.

Hey William, thanks for watching and for your question! You shouldn’t have to bring a glue stick (unless your picture somehow falls off) 👍🏽 On the back of the Navigo Découvert Card is a little white box ⬜️ with the words “Collez ici votre photo i’dentité”, which means “paste your photo here”. On top of the white box is a very thin, clear film with sticky glue underneath (like the back of a sticker). Once you peel back the thin film just press your photo against the sticky glue and you’re all set! ✅ 😁

@maltamonument
@maltamonument 5 лет назад
Check out the outlets of Navigo. If im not mistaken there was one in Gare Du Nord and for sure there was an office in CDG airport. Honestly since you're arriving on Friday and leaving on Wednesday, I'm not sure you'll end up saving much, however calculate how many metros you'll be using :). Also as far as I know, the Navigo card can only be bought till Thursday... parisbytrain.com/paris-train-metro-week-pass-navigo-decouverte/. In my opinion I would buy one carnet and share it with the people in your travel group :). Also, Paris is beautiful and most sights are within 1 metro stop away from each other. So many times you would opt to walk the distance :)
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 5 лет назад
Hi Ayessa! Unfortunately, if you arrive and purchase the Navigo Decouvert card on Friday you can not use the card immediately - it will be valid starting Monday morning. As Malta Monument mentioned, you may want to look into purchasing a carnet of t+ tickets for your trip and an individual RER ticket if you need to ride from the airport into Paris to last until Monday. I hope this helps! 🙂

I just booked a trip to Paris, Brussels, and Amsterdam. Do you think it would be best to purchase a Eurail pass? While I'm in Paris and if I want to go to a restaurant that happens to be a 40 min walk, is it even practical to take a train? I'm so confused on what's the best option considering I'm going to Brussels for 2 days and Amsterdam for 3. Or should I just get the 10 tickets and the Deconvert ticket. Some much to consider, but this video is extremely helpful non the less!!
@FrolicAndCourage
@FrolicAndCourage 4 года назад
Hey Juliya! Your trip sounds like so much fun! I can't speak for Brussels or Amsterdam, but I can certainly speak to Paris 😀The tickets you buy all depend on what you want to see in Paris. Are you planning on going to a lot of places? Do you plan to take day trips to Versailles or Disneyland? Do you need Airport transportation? Are you traveling Mon-Thursday? If the answer is yes to all, the cheapest option could be the Navigo Decouvert. If you are only staying in the city center over the weekend and plan to walk, then a carnet (10 tickets) might be the best option. So I'd suggest looking at your itinerary, plan your sites using google maps, and determining if it's feasible to walk or take public transportation. Hope this helps!
