Hey! I'm Stacey, Welcome to my RU-vid channel.
I'm a mum of two - a girl called Reika-Asia who is 11 and a boy called Jacob who is 2.
Let's just say my life has been 'different' and it's fair to say there were more down's then up's. I was also a single teenage mamma for a while. I am now married to the love of my life and we raise our wonderful family together.
Jacob has just been diagnosed with Autism after I saw red flags. I have many video's highlighting our journey.
Stacey

Oh my gosh you did so well to stay so calm through all of these people not taking you seriously. Jacob is so lucky that you are his mum, a mummy lion fighting for the best for her child. So glad you were listened to and this video will be so helpful to inspire others to stay strong in getting help for their kids too x

I think you know your child better than anyone, better than specialists. You've done so well, you've got Jacob that support so fast and that is crucial. He's coming in leaps and bounds and such a happy little boy. Autism works differently for every child, Macaulay doesn't do eye contact, or love, he's delayed etc there's so much yet some things throw me off the pathway. Hugs thank you for doing this video xx

MakinaFamily I was the same Hun, Jacob is delayed and showed lack of understanding. Yet he cuddles and kisses each child is so different. Thank you Hun x

My son was diagnosed a couple of weeks off of his 3rd birthday. Everything you've said I have felt I'm right there with you, so frustrating! Such a fight, stress, worry and it is a grieving process. Big love xx

the process was pretty simple but lengthy. on my sons 3 yr checkup I voiced concerns about his speech. up until yr 2 my son was hitting all the milestones, however after that his speech wasn't improving , he wasn't playing w toys properly, he was hyper, he had alot of handflapping and very repetitive movement, and dev delayed. I really hoped he would grow out of it but he didnt. once I talked to his doc within a couple months we got him into speech therapy, 4 months later he was diagnosed and started ot. 6 months later I learned where in the spectrum he was which was mild high functioning right behind aspergers. after the grieving I truely felt relief, and now am so proud of all James progress.

This video brought me to tears funny is I have an 11 year old and a 2 year old diagnosed with autism. And unlike you I knew around 15 months something wasn't right. I think no daignosee him before I got the diagnosis. So getting it on paper was just confirmation...but like you when I was reading the signs online...I knew my baby had it....and I cried and cried. You just want your kids to be ok..you just want them to grow up have kids and be normal adults...We still have to have faith and early intervention makes a difference. I wish you all the best. I would love to share our experiences. I am messaging my email address. Take care.

Pandora Rhodes ah thank you. Yes I knew something wasn't right when he was first born and he had a injection and didnt cry at all and then when he was 9 months and then 12/18 months. I just didn't know it was Autism. Xx

My son(Terrell) he didn't start having signs till after 12 months. Before that he was hitting all his milestones. I question why Austism is so prominent these days seems like more kids then ever before are being diagnosed.

beautiful momma my experience was alot like you. my son has the delays, but is also very mild in other ways. he is social, makes good eye contact, and doesn't have alot of sencory issues or meltdowns. it never crossed my mind but I was so heartbroken. thankyou for sharing

This was the exact process with my little one. I am not done with the process but I have his ASD assessment on the 25th of this month. He makes Eye contact at times. Ugh. I know he has a form of ASD. Not till I went out and did the research my self did I get the help I have been wanting going through private services.The children's health department is useless where I live in BC. SO frustrating.

Here in Canada we were referred to "Early Intervention" by a family member who has a son on the spectrum, and they came out and interviewed us and they saw red flags and sent in a referral to the "early Autism" team to be assessed..if anyone reading this is Canadian I highly recommend early intervention , they will send in a referral if your child has red flags and they will work with your child in any areas they need help with..also they will refer your child to speech therapy,. Occupational therapy if they need it :)
@susannemackenzie8469
@susannemackenzie8469 8 лет назад
I should have mentioned they will work with any child that is delayed in 2 or more areas, you don't need a diagnosis of anything :)

Hi I live in Norwich, Norfolk. I noticed that my son gradually lost his speech between 12 and 18 months I contacted early intervention who sent me to a speech therapist I also made an appointment with the gp and was referred to see the paediatrician. My I waited for about 3 months for the appointment and the peadiatrician said he agrees with me my son is showing signs of autism and he has been referred for the behaviour and communication team he is now 2 years old 😢 I just feel so sad that they take so long to do a diagnosis when an early diagnosis is so important for the child development they have more chances and opportunities to learn more. Your videos are being so important for me What support is Jacob getting now that he has a diagnosis? X x x

Alinne Barros know how you feel Hun! It's a fight! Although 2 years old is so young that lots of support can be put in place Hun. Jacob has been allocated a specialist teacher who will visit our house get to know him and then support him in the nursery setting. He also has a nursery nurse who has just started working with him fortnightly! He also has a SENCO in nursery too. To be honest it does take time and they haven't started any work with him yet (next week) but it's about everyone being aware and getting the support for him. They said these two years are vital in getting Jacob support before he has to start school. X

Thanks, for the video. It sadly reminds me that I am not alone. Many people assume because your profession or schooling is in the same area for me education specdically special education that we look for things that aren't there. But, we know or children outside of our schooling or profession. My LO just turned a year and will be starting the eval process. Thanks again your videos area oddly to similar and familiar tho your LO is a year older.

aw Stacey, It is hard.. like you say the process to go is long, Evie has been seen by peads and she said GDD and there is autism. BUT can't give diagnosis just yet until she has been seen by SALT. that starts 12th oct for 4 weeks, then from there December 14th possibly Assesment / Diagnosis... I know she has ASD and ADHD, the fact she can't fully communicate is a problem as well as terrible twos wahh .. xx

Stacey Leigh yes he had a speech therapy session where she assessed him, noted lack of eye contact, immature speech, no sense of processing commands, can't sequence and is very self absorbed. He can't do tasks without being repetitively asked, and doesn't show emotions. He thinks crying is "eyes watering" or "hay fever" :( They are due to assess him in school, once all assessments are in they'll put them forward to the panel of assessors who'll decide if he fits the diagnosis. school however have filled their forms in as "no concerns" 🙄 funny enough his previous teacher as now left.

Stacey Leigh it's very slow in east of Kent waiting lists are shocking here, he will have assessment in December and got referred last December but that's with me pushing and chasing appts x
