How to get back on balance: the brace stroke

When you loose balance in whitewater the brace stroke will help you to find the balance again. This stroke can be done in a similar way on sea kayaks.

Did you find that it was more difficult to skull your paddle blade on the left side (the feathered side) when you started? I've been following your advice here and doing great on my right side with both styles you outline, but when I brace on the left side with the skulling motion, I often go under because I haven't gotten the muscle memory down. Any advice? Thanks much for your excellent videos!!

Of course the use of the left blade could be harder. the fact the hand has to leave the shaft rolling doesn't help. however you can reach the same level of skill in both side if you keep training well. My advice is just to train and train on your left side mainly.
