Are you currently trying to stick to a makeup no buy but finding it challenge? Let's talk about what you should do to get back on the no buy! In this video I'm giving you all of the steps to follow when you find yourself falling off the wagon. I know that a lot of people struggle and aren't able to stick to it long term, so in today's video I'm giving advice on how to ensure that you actually keep on that no buy and that it's fun! I'd love to hear if you're currently on a makeup no buy, and how long you've been at it! I hope my tips and tricks are helpful :) If you're new to my channel I'm curating my collection and I'm talking all things minimalism & decluttering, makeup no-buy and low-buy, and project pan.

I’ve tried so many times to do no buys. I started in April and had a good couple months but this month I’ve been so low physically and mentally that I’ve been seeking out things to buy. Although my habits have most definitely changed and improved I have made some purchases this past couple of weeks. I’ve decided not to scrap it altogether and keep framing it as a no buy because that does help me refuse certain purchases but if I do occasionally buy some things I’m not going to be super hard on myself. I don’t have much that brings me joy due to my health and of the off purchase makes me feel good and doesn’t hurt anybody then I have to just accept that and move on. I’ve come to terms with the fact I’ll always be a shopper but I am changing those habits but by bit so that’s a win ❤

Sometimes it helps to "walk away" from the cart and then go in my makeup drawer and reintroduce myself to the good stuff I already have.

Great video! I would also add to the why to remember why you started! To save money, to use what you have, to decrease the size of your collection? Is the why for your no buy still relevant? And I totally agree with getting over it. I started a no buy 3 months ago and it has not been perfect since I made some grey are purchases (bought some cream face products which I didn't have before, also bought a bunch of perfume since it wasn't part of my makeup no buy). Being mad at myself won't get me anywhere. I made the changes needed (put perfume on a no/low buy too) and I want to focus on what I have now.

This came right at the right time. I broke my no-buy the day before you posted this video. It has taken me a week to watch this video because I've been so busy. 😅 There's been no more purchases though, so that's good. Just stuff I need. I'm not too mad about it. The things I've bought have been on my wishlist for about 4 years, and my numbers are still lower with these purchases than they were when I started my no-buy, so I'm taking that as a win. 🙂

What a great video! I’ve tried doing a no-buy year since 2021 and have always failed. This year was no different. But I’m determined to try again for the second half of 2024. I think the advice of figuring out what’s causing someone to break it and working around that is super helpful. I’m definitely an emotional shopper and have made my purchases when my mental health is not okay. I’m working on finding other ways to comfort myself that isn’t shopping

I really really needed this sooo much!! I fell into the trap of buying drugstore makeup recently, which I previously didnt do. (I bought them because they’re so cheap in Europe) I also bought some back ups because I cant get them where I live, I know I will use them eventually but I definitely feel a little stressed with more products now😬

Makeup ans skincare are a no... so I've been thinking in every scenario....prior to depart.... and making sure will think2× about items to buy.... I really needed this right now!!!! I started a no buy for makeup, skincare and hair products in Jan 2024 because certain areas in my home started to feel so cluttered. I get excited to get new products but I realized it would end up triggering my anxiety after not being able to organize my home because of the all the space taken by overflow of product. I also have attachment issues especially to my makeup but I so far I’ve been able to do two declutters 3 months a part and have been able to Ok with downsizing. So far these 6 months I’ve been able to stick and commit to no buys for skincare and haircare and have success with empties. The makeup no buy has been the hardest to stick too… but thank you for this video because I recently bought a few makeups products and was feeling a bit guilty. Stress was my trigger but I wasn’t considering that the other two no buys have been a success and even if I have bought makeup it’s been less than $200 worth within the last 6 months… when before I would easily spend that money almost every two months buying makeup, skincare, haircare without thinking. Soooo yes I failed my makeup no buy BUT after watching this video I can celebrate my wins on the other no buys, move on and hit reset on my makeup no buys and start shopping my stash again. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! ❤

Do you have any type of product you'll never include in a no-buy? I've never done a no-buy, but I know I could never include mascara. Not that I'm particularly obsessed with mascara but I do get pink eye on a regular basis, and if I've used a mascara and then I get an infection a couple of days later, I have to replace my mascara because if I use it again after the infection is gone, I will just end up with a new infection, because you can't sanitize a mascara. So I do go through quite a few mascaras without using them up but that's why I only use cheap mascaras. I only allow myself to get one high-end one a year, typically after Christmas when all the gift boxes are marked down and I can find a good deal.

Last year I wasn’t into makeup and barely bought things maybe 4-5 things total. Jan-May2 I bought 18 products. Went on a makeup no buy this year on May2.. then broke my no buy june25 to buy a new discontinued blush palette on mercari… Anyway going back to no buy till Nov. My wishlist keeps changing but might wait to finish more products. I unfollowed makeup review channels, but maybe should watch less makeup vids in general. I’ve been trying to focus on using my makeup instead of window shopping lol

Hmmmm I would try looking that up on RU-vid - probably someone has panned it! Too Much Tash does a lot of videos showing how long it takes to get through specific products
