Used to play this a lot, I was planned set pieces very carefully because I always picked a 2nd tier team and worked them up to promotion, set pieces are if planned and executed correctly the underdogs weapon of choice and the favorites can use them to open up a defensive side. Maybe it's because I played full back and use took take corners and freekicks a lot, gives a perspective.
Levy probably started watching tifo when Jose was sacked and will try to cut on costs by having himself as the manager, analytics team and everything else- After that, he'll get a letter from the FA and UEFA telling him to do the coaching badges and will try the ESL again with a rule of no badges needed.
I have a 95 years old Marcelo Bielsa working as a scout for my Aston Villa team :D I don't think it's a bug. The man is immortal and does not want to retire
@@daniel-cc7bn Cause this channel goes deep into football which general gamers or fifa players don't know, mostly fm players deep dive into football Average fm players knowledge on football> Average Fifa players or a normal football fan
"Only 1.6% of us have taken the time to create a set-piece plan for every occasion". I think that says more about the way Football Manager implements set-piece planning than it does about the people who play the game.
THISSS!! It's also weird that it hasn't really improved that much in the 20+ years I've played. Even when I bother to set them properly, it's all wasted on something like the central defender instructed to "mark tall player" being in the kick-off spot during defensive corners. Or when you switch to another tactic during a match and all the setpiece instructions being all wonky even though they're saved correctly in the tactics.
One big tip that I feel everyone should know. If a player has a tendency of performing poorly, particularly when that player is supposed to be better than the other players in the relative division, then go to the reports page for that player and check for the players' consistency. Consistency is a very important attribute in the game, and it is hidden, but try at all costs to not make an inconsistent player a key part of your tactic, it is better you try to limit the number of things they do. Alternatively consistency influences technical and mental attributes, so try using him in more physical roles to at least limit his ineffectiveness. Combine that with making sure the player is happy and you might be able to at least not have a low 6.2 or 6.1 rating every game. Consistency will gradually increase as time goes on, but very slowly, maybe +1 every 2/3 years. If a player is worth keeping for that amount of time, then you can be patient and wait until that player has an average amount of consistency(the report will show it gone by removing the description "is fairly inconsistent", but some players have extremely low consistency and are unsalvageable.
Hidden attributes never make any sense to me. True potential, I get, but if a scout can quantify a player’s determination, they can quantify consistency easily
@@matthewvaughan8192 Without hidden attributes you would have perfect knowledge of every player's true value and ability..it makes the game interesting - and frustrating.
@@Veaseify What you mean like in real life? That’s my point. It’s a simulator. If you can quantify consistency in real life then you should be able to on the game. I never said it has to be 100% accurate, but everybody just ends up looking at them anyway. Just make it a mental attribute
BWM works well with a support role. I used Jordan Henderson as BWM for my England squad and we won the EUROS and Nations League with ease. BWM is very similar to BBM but with Support tactic, you win the ball much higher up the pitch.
no magic formation, but there are exploits tactics, like over the top 4-3-3 with 1 pressing forward support back in fm20, you can make any top 5 team score like 120+ goals a season with it.
The 4-2-3-1 Gegenpress with 1 DLP (Su) and a B2B mid/a Ball-winning midfielder was one too It became so easy to win that I vowed to never use the formation again
@@mike.n.n.7723 It only work(in my save) with a team that got a forward with great aerial and physical ability. I don't know about other people save but yeah, it just didn't work in my save
@@fanofatrophylessclub9881 I had really quick strikers so it was devastating Even if you don't have a proper physical striker just make him a Deep lying forward on support and use the wingers as inside forwards on attack, like how Liverpool do with Firmino, Mane and Salah
Re: the having 2 players back but check re: subs/injuries/takers/whatever, this is what the "stay back if needed" instruction is good for. I set both FBs to stay back but if one of them is taking the corner, my defensive mid takes his place, otherwise he gets involved.
Simplicity is the key. That is 100% true. I played EURO 2020 with England and I kept 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 with Gegenpressing tactic and boom we scored 21 goals and just conceded 4 goals. And I had Ramsdale as my main keeper. Bonus Tip :- Mark the opposition players tight and press them, tackle them hard and show them their weak foot. Each one of them when it comes to big teams. That works all the time.
The video no one asked for and I'm not quite sure who needed it as I don't know if anyone still invests the countless hours required to play this game, but it's here and it's appreciated.
Been playing FM since the mid 90s, and I miss the good old days where it only mattered who has the better stats. You could play the same squad and tactic all season. I miss having the time to play FM for hours in a day.
Not fully true there is definitely a system to win the game. At the moment strikerless is the meta - I don’t download tactics anymore (in my main games) but it’s not a matter of tactically outplaying your opponents in FM it’s a matter of outplaying the game engine - that doesn’t mean you can’t win without using the meta I’m currently rocking a very good 4321 but - if you use the meta tactics I guarantee your sub-top squad can win champions leagues - I still test them every patch or so and yes they do work
Yep, I've been using the exact same system for 5 years and have gone from German third division to Champions League final (lost on penalties *shakes fist*)
Yeah this video is absolutely BS. Pretty much nothing they said is actually important, it’s like they haven’t even played it and just assume how it should work, not how it really does.
It's so flexible as well, in game you can shift to front 3, front 2, 5 in midfield, overlaping fullbacks, etc. Midfielders can perform different functions depending on game plan(offensive/defensive). I don't like poachers though, I need a striker with good movement, pace, finishing at least(advanced forward), especially if you're playing against a better team and look to counter/be direct.
I've currently got Kettering Town in the Premier League, its 2032 and just won the Europa so its champions league football next season, come on the poppies!
I have three tactics saved: 4-2-3-1 with wingbacks. 442 diamond for playing two forwards (again with wingbacks, middle field winders playing attacking position) and one super defensive 4 4 1 1 for when need to play defansive. I alternate between first and second across the season with adjustments for teams and players.
I think it also depends on which version of FM you're playing. I loved FM 2011 and had a great save on it, but when I moved to 2016, I found that the kind of players and tactics which thrived in 2011 just couldn't get near it in 2016, and vice versa. Generally, there seemed to be a lot more space in the 2011 version, but by 2016, that had gone, in favour of a more physical style.
Well ..been using the same 433 for years. Attacking mentality with pressure still gets you very far tho' with minimal need to change anything, and it works on every level. Just find the right staff & players.
@@lillihamer_75lespuy98 team or individual? Team is just your ordinary modern style; attacking at first for a bit of shock and awe, positive later on ( season/years) as the gaps get found out and to combat counter formations like the 352/523 High pressure, high line, high line of engagement (this get changed to normal with positive mentality), stay on feet, man mark. Very Short passning, slow tempo, no time wasting . Play from defence-middle-overlap. Offside trap. Quick distribution from the goalie preferably as a throw to defenders or wb's Play for set pieces, corners on first post. Low crosses if quick forwards, otherwise whipped.
In sports simulation games it's to know if the player is good you need to put him to play. In Out Of The Park Baseball is also common to see big stars struggling
There is a magic formation 442 DM,LM,RM & CAM Playing with inverted fullbacks and 2 pure goal scorers Strikers got 100goals between them in back to back seasons
Please make a video about all football positions and roles how they perform in football manager. And combination between two positions. In football manager game there are some given hints but i think you guys can explain it a lot better.
I have used the same formation and tactics for 14 seasons straight with Gateshead in the PL, won the PL and everything else most of the seasons. I of course don´t share my tactics since .. well .. SI could fix my exploits and I don´t want that. Done it once and got wiser.
With West Ham i got a 4th place finish in my 1st season. The next 3 seasons i won the Champions League. The 3rd time i won the CL i also won the PL. I'm in season 5 now. I'm about to win the champions league again and am top of the PL again. All of this WITHOUT changing my tactics once. IMHO, despite loving the game, it's too easy...
The number ONE rule if you're not very good and want to win is: Play gegenpressing and attacking. The way FM is set up, this is BY FAR the easiest way to win. As a long time FM player since the 90's the game is FAR TOO easy for me. So I like to try and play dinosaur hoof ball or catenaccio football as it's WAY more of a challenge to play defensive football on FM.
Just saying someone with 8 stamina can a a box to box they will just get tired quicker. I can understand the point you were trying to make but there were more important attributes that could of been better used as an example.
The last tip is ALWAYS save the game BEFORE and if there's no injury during the match, then save AGAIN right AFTER the match. This will prevent you from player's injuries by just clicking "continue" to skip the day and out of nowhere your best CF broken his leg and out for 4 months.
Beuty grafics..and excelent clip..and need to liitle times of play for beginners to puzzle is complited...basic rules allways work for duty attack support defend..if you full back go in forward midell.on the side to bei defense duty..my advice on the Yt have real football tactis who is usefull in FM
