You’re awesome! I’m on a road trip with my dogs and bam! The window falls! I’m far from home and freaking out. Got a metal ruler and tape and it worked immediately. 7 years later, your video is still helping people. Much thanks kind stranger!!!
OH. MY. GOD.... it worked! I did not have a lot of space around the glass to grab and didn't have the double sided tape or a ruler but it only needed about an inch of the tape to grab it and it pulled right up! I used a wood shim in place of the ruler and duct tape taped onto the shim with the sticky side out. PRO TIP from another RU-vid video: you can stick suction cups like the ones on a phone window mount at the base of the window to keep the window up. I didn't have one so used 2 suction cups from my cat's window hammock. 😄 THANK YOU, DOUG!
This video was very helpful but made me feel like an idiot because I been getting headaches for the past two days trying to come up with a creative and smart was to get my windows back up. And this was such an easy, simple, and self explanatory concept. I'm mad I didn't think of it first😭I'm all on Google searching for tools to lift up window that's stuck down, ready to give Amazon all my money for whatever little trinket can get my windows back up again 🤣
This thread could be the best thing on RU-vid. My window on my son's Jeep went down on our vacation. Write before the thunder Storm hit I found the video. Window up. Daddy's happy. Thanks 😊
THANK YOU!!! I have never done something like this before and this worked so easily! Window fell down after an ice storm. I have small children and needed this fixed asap. Ran to the store for the supplies and within 20 minutes had my window back up!! It’s been below freezing here and this was a lifesaver. Thanks again.
Best result out of 3 different methods. Fumbled with the other two for 10 to 15 minutes with zero luck. Tried your method and it took 20 seconds. Can't thank enough my good man.
Moments from a torrential downpour here my back window drops into the door. I used regular packing tape and a spatula instead but your technique worked like a charm. Thank you!
Thanks so much , you're a life saver. Was rolling my window down on my F-150 and it just dropped. I searched and found your video, was able to spend 6 bucks and use the tips from your video to temporarily secure the window till I can get it fully repaired. Again thanks so much.
We were in the mountains on vacation when the window popped really loudly and slammed down. We used painters tape and a random spatula for your trick. Worked like a charm! THANK YOU!
This happened to me last night while driving home. I appreciate this video so much, simple directions, detailed instructions and straight to the point ❤
This guy is the “REAL MVP” thank you for this advice it really works!!! I just used a grilling spatula with some guerrilla tape and Boom it came right up. Everybody make sure you let the tape stick to the inside of the window for a couple seconds before pulling it up!
@@amarigraim4914 You can try to see if it works but the key is to make sure you press it to the window and make sure it strong enough to stick so you can pull the window back up. If that tape don’t work might wanna get gorilla tape or duct tape for more of a thick sticky texture.
I was driving home today and the passenger side window would not come back up. The power part was working but the window would not move. We just finished do exactly as shown in this video and it worked! I have a 2 week wait to get into the dealership to get it repaired.....and it is now winter. Thanks for the video!
Thank you very much! I am a 49 y/o woman who does not work on cars yet successfully removed the driver window pane from inside the door panel (Dodge Ram truck) in about 45 seconds with your method! Thank goodness people like you post to You Tube; I was at sea on this one. Kisses to you.
Life saver. In the dead of winter, 19 degrees, this happened to me. I was in the middle of driving my son to dr. appointment and practice. This was the first video I pulled up. Drove to the nearest store to get what I needed and in less than a couple minutes I had my window up
I want to thank you. Your instructions were so clear that I was able to do it on my van passenger window. It makes a difference as a good fix until I take the door panel off and change out the regulator. I realize the video was done some time ago. I hope you receive my gratitude.
My window just fell not an hour ago and I didn't know where to start. Naturally i sesrched the web for answers and I came across your video. You saved myself and my husband a whole bunch if headache and we got the window back up! Thank you so much!
I enjoyed your video. It was very helpful. Thank you! I had been trying to figure a way to get the window up. I thought of trying to use pliers, but: 1) I didn't pliers would fit, and 2) I thought the pliers might scratch the glass. I used an 18-inch plastic ruler (a little wider than a metal ruler); and, instead of using a screwdriver to put pressure against the ruler and the window, I used a metal framing square I had on hand. It worked great!
You're the man!!! I haven't tried this yet (no double-sided tape at home), but after my long, unfruitful attempt to remove the door panel (Renault Megane, and even the videos I've found are not the same as my vehicle), bloody knuckles, etc., I have every faith that this will work!!! Off to attempt, wish me luck!!! (This is my husband's vehicle I'm working on, he's been using mine for work since this happened, but I want my vehicle back, LOL)!
The driver's window in our Elantra just started acting up recently and my wife forgot and rolled it all the way down. I saw your video and I was able to easily get the window out from the door. Thank you so much!
Never thought this would work. I taped one sided tape to a ruler and after it came up just a tiny bit I got it so I could grab it! BRILLIANT!!! THANK YOU!!!
This worked great for me! Thank you so much! I did it using a long screwdriver, a metal butter knife, and duct tape. The first time it didn't stick because the tape was too lose on the knife and the tap bunched up. The second time I got the tape tighter on the knife and opening wider for it to fit in and it worked perfectly!
Thanks so much for the 'shadetree-mech' Tip Doug! Worked GREAT for me- it took 2minutes to Fix my GF Drivers Side Mustang Car Window! (a $40.00 local-shop price to fix!)... I already had all the tools you used- and so it Cost me ZERO to Fix it myself! Thanks again my new carfriend! :D
Thank you so much man! I am a woman and that was so easy to do it! On my first try it worked! And i made sure to tape the window so it won’t fall down again! Thanks❤️
Just did this on my 2000 LeSabre and it took all of one minute-better than removing the door panel. I wedged the window at the bottom on the inside with a couple of rubber wedges instead of taping the top. Thanks for the video.
This trick worked great for me! The window came right up and I was able to drive the car without plastic on the window. I still have to replace the window regulator.
Thanks heaps, you saved me pulling apart my BMW door. Took about 10mins. Used two screwdrivers to separate window rubber. Moved it enough to grab window and do the rest by hand.
Driving to work in my 92 Ford, rolled the window down to look at something and window went all the way down. It was raining and I couldn't get it back up. I had duct tape instead but this worked. Thank you!
It worked on Acura MDX 2006!! Thank you so much!!! It didn't take me long less than a min I think. And I didn't even use double sided tape, I figured how to put the tape on the ruler so the stickiness was on the outside. Thank you!!
God bless you! I happened to have some sticky Velcro tape and attached to a ruler and it saved the day.....and a ton of money not having to get it fixed right now!
Thank you so much for this! I had to use a fish slice and try pulling at different angles once the tape had stuck properly, but it worked! Thank you so much 😊
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I managed with one sided heavy duty packing tape and a normal plastic ruler! used 2 screwdrivers to wedge open a big enough gap. Worked like a charm!
I also did this with a cheap fly swatter with wire handle. Took the head off, bent the end of the wire into a hook, then I shimmied it down into the door and hooked the bottom of the window and pulled it up.
Thank you thank you thank you for this. I've been rolling with a trash bag window and it's been utterly embarrassing. This solved everything and I thank you for it
Same, i have a bright green sheet over my drivers side door that i have to take down and put back up every time i use my car. Everyone at work and even my customers know its my car. Gotta try this tomorrow
Thank you! Life saver!!!!!! Using your way, I simplified it using the following… Traveling with kids and the window got stuck since something broken inside as we try to roll it up and down. Anyway you don’t even need a double sided tape or a long ruler. Just use $0.99 scraper (for paint and wall) a single sided wide tape, good 3M tape… put the tape sticker side outward, vertically on to the scraper.. cover the whole scraper, hold you hand onto the now sticky scraper (you are now holding the sticky tape covered scraper) jam the scraper on either side and press against the window that is stuck inside… pull… done
Thank you!! Great quick results to save us before a storm. P.s. if your window won't stay up, get a suction cup lifter to keep on the inside of your window near the door lock so it won't go back down. Just pull your window up all the way and suction on the window where it meets the door panel.
thank you so much for posting the wonderful video. it was easy and I didn't have to purchase anything special. I will be forever grateful. I cant wait to show the guys in my family....
Thank you!!! I just did it and it worked, right before the rain!!! I didn't have long ruler so I used a spackle thing and I didbn't have double sided tape so I used tape with velcro on it, same concept as you said and it worked in 2 minutes!!! Thank you again :-)
You Rockstar! I talked my son through it in a Home Depot parking lot where he got the screwdriver, tape, and ruler. He also got a pack of 3 five-pound command hooks to wedge the window up temporarily.
Hi Doug, we've never left a comment on RU-vid before but we'd like to tell you that this just totally saved us - your instructions worked first time!! From some very grateful friends in South London, UK
Thank you so much for this video it was absolutely helpful and I appreciate everybody that does these type of videos because it's about saving money out here thanks again much helpful
So much easier than having to take the panel off! Mine just fell down on my way to work and I have a cross country road trip in two week to move. Didn’t want to drop hundred going to a body shop right before I move!
My piece of crap 2016 Hyundai Tucson is riddled with issues and this was its newest one. But your video helped me resolve it, temporarily. So huge thank you, man🙏
