Shooting on a farm gets me excited! As so often budget was a big restriction on this, so it took plenty of research, some idea pilfering and a dedicated hard working assistant to get this done. I'd love to go back for a whole week of banging weather and do it all again now there's a sort of structure as going into this with little direction from the creative side of things made this a tough one.

“Planned visual targets, foreground stuff to add depth, camera movement motivated by an action, textures, point of view rigging, try to utilize time of day and squeeze as much of golden hour as possible” Just wow. This channel has to blow up.

Great work again on these dude. Could watch much longer versions even with rough BTS off the shoots if that’s ever possible!

I’ll do my best, I always go in with the best of intentions, but normally I’m pretty strapped for time when on a shoot so struggle to get much BTS when we actually get going.

Really gotta say this: Your videos are incredibly well made and it feels often like I´m finally getting an insight into what seemingly happens behind closed doors. I am sure, at some point you will blow up here and get the viewership you deserve. Mark my words :)

This is pretty good. Here in the caribbean we don’t have rental houses so I pretty much have to do most of my jobs with this particular model. It looks good man 👍

I'm in love with your work and all the video you're doing on yt. you're so talented..I wanna get as good as you one day =) pulling out such shots with a limited budget and a limited time is just incredible. I'm sure you'll be getting consistent 6 figure jobs very soon. thanks for being on yt!

Thanks Scott, loads of ideas about how I can step it up in this. Something that I sometimes do with my producer on jobs like this is pre-interview the 'real people', create a whole script from the recording and then plan the b-roll that way. Sometimes saves the jigsaw puzzle in post. Had de-ja-vu at the end there as recently been working with Suzi and Cam at DMC for one of our own projects, they're really great :)

Thanks Alex! Yeah, I should have mentioned that we did pre-interview the ‘real people’ that’s what narrowed it down a bit. I think the disconnect perhaps came from the budget not allowing for the creatives to spend much time on it. But the sort of thing I had in mind for example was based around something Richard said about how he loves grass and then goes on to talk about the soil, however, he didn’t say this in the pre-interviews, and when he did immediately I had an idea I thought would have been cool shooting a cross section into the soil so when he digs the dirt you see it break apart and his hand come down into. I ideally needed a fish tank and lots of black out to shoot this though, tried rigging some bits from scrap with the farmer that we did shoot, but it wasn’t quite working and we couldn’t afford to spend any more time on it. Yay for Suzi and Cam :)

@@ScottPetersFilms Ah got it. That makes a lot of sense. The 'love growing grass' line is such a great line, I can see how an extra day to cut the interview first would have helped.

Love this video. The ad looked really good. Are you ever considering purchasing your own Alexa Mini or Red?

Thanks Richard! You know what… I actually bit the bullet on a RED V-Raptor in September, already been on a few jobs with me. I love the look and ergonomics of ARRI more, but don’t shoot enough days of the year to warrant taking out a loan for the price of what could be a house to buy the new ALEXA 35.

Hey Scott, do you think you could shoot a commercial of this level on anything other than an Arri? Would a Komodo or a BMPCC suffice for the client in your opinion? Cheers! Loving the content - this channel is gonna ignite.
@ScottPetersFilms
@ScottPetersFilms Год назад
Hey Samuel, yeah you could shoot this on either of those cameras for sure. There would be discrepancies in the image, but not noticeable to the average viewer if you exposed correctly and had a decent colourist working on the final product.
