For all those who can't seem to get your wired connection to go faster than 100Mbps. You are probably using a Cat 5 cable, this cable only works up to 100Mbps. You'll need a Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable to increase that speed. Also, you can't get faster speed than your internet provider gives you no matter what cable you use... although, I pay for 200Mbps and most times I can get upwards of 212Mbps, so there's that :).
Most people also do not know that the firestick is actually still on when the TV is off. There is a setting in the TV itself to turn the power of the USB ports to go off when the TV is shut off. It's usually in the energy saving section of the settings.
I have a 1000Mbps internet. I bought a new TP link Wifi 6E router (6 external antenas) and my fire TV Stick 4K Max in 5Ghz and 6Ghz get to 430Mbps. The port of the Fire TV Stick is micro Usb 2.0 so it's limited to 480mbps (real max speed via a 1Gb USB ethernet adapter is 330Mbps). My Hisense UK8 Tv in Wifi get to 540-600mbps. Because the ethernet port of the tv and many devices are limited to 100Mbps (92Mbps), and my Tv has a USB 3.0 port i bought a 1Gb Usb -A 3.0 ethernet adapter and now via the 1Gb ethernet adapter i get 919Mbps speed. So is you are limited by the device USB port (2.0) is better to buy a good Wifi router with external antenas.
I have a new TP-Link Wifi 6E-6Ghz router and my fire stick max internet speed is 434mbps , My Hisense google tv and my phone wifi-5ghz speeds are 636Mbps, so wifi is faster than ethernet adapter in devices that limit you to 100mbps. Only PC/Laptop with a 1000mbps ethernet port or adapter can get to 900mbps + . So just buy a new TP Link Wifi 6 router with external antenas or Mesh Wifi is your home is big.
I brought to of the following addapters, i still cant get better than 92mb. I've got 1gb internet, im running good quality Cat6, my pc get 1gb no issues on the fiber! Any ideas please? Love the channel doc 👍🏻
@DocSquiffy When trying to run a speed test it won’t let me. It also is saying I’m not connected in that screen to run the speed test But when I back out the Wi-Fi is connected to my wireless internet I’m also getting tons of different movies or TV shows that are playing a completely different show Also I don’t get many link options to watch the show Any ideas??
Why is it, That you stop apps from running in the back ground, Were is if you use a roku you have no way to stop apps from running in the back ground and they work fine with no buffering at all?
Hi, Great video, I have a Amazon Ethernet adaptor connected to my Amazon fire stick 4k but only get speeds around 92mbps. Question, will this new cable help increase the speed as we do get the blue circle whilst streaming a lot! Any help is appreciated 👍
Does it work with 2nd generation Fire Cube? After watching a video from Fire Stick TV about the same subject, I fitted 1 giga bytes ethernet adapter to my Fire Cube, it made no difference at all, download speed stayed the same
Awesome as usual. I'm fairly new to the fire stick, I've been using android boxes for several years. I really appreciate the info you give, it is always helpful. Can't wait for the next one.
How do i do this for the newest firetv cube, All I can get wired is less than 100 down with the built in port and when I use a gig port thing adapter its the same
@@DocSquiffy this is great where I live (fiber 1) my download is currently around 52mbps an upload mainly sits around 10 but has the capability 17mbps on good day it’s currently wired in to OTG. Interesting enough if this cable allows me to wire it in like OTG how come it doesn’t limit speed 100mbps ? I’m just curious I’m using a jail broken fire stick it’s awesome Thank you 🙏
My router is about 16ft from my TV. I'm not sure how to go about this. Do I need an ethernet cable to go from my hall to reach the TV in the living room? Sorry if it's a silly question 😳
correct, but get a 1gig eathernet adapter instead. Connect it to an OTG cable. Connect this to your fire stick. Run a Cat 6 or higher eathernet cable to the back of your modem. Connect the firestick settings to a hard-wired connection in the settings.
Hi Doc I got the cable and installed as per your video. I only get 90-102 mbps. My internet is 400 mbps. I have done speed test on my other devices, and get between 250-300 mbps. Please tell me any suggestion you have to help.
Hey Doc help me out. I hooked up the Ethernet cable and then received five steps to hook it up. Ask for ip address, then a prefix, the gateway, I could not get to steps 4 & 5 because the info I entered was somehow wrong??? Help.
Hi bought the cable matters cable from the link you left on Amazon. I have a fire stick 4k max It will not recognise it. Works with the amazon Ethernet adapter 100mbs. But just not this one. Do you have a video off how to set it up?
Hi Docsquiffy, I did what you suggested as my Wi-Fi speed was 72Mbps after buying a cable and fitted as per your upload I am getting the same speed! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Ps the Fire stick is within 2’ of the router.
I'm completely new to the firestick or anything similar. I just got mt first one from Amazon and haven't even plugged it in yet. I am looking for the best way to set up and maximize the benefits, which I've only heard vaguely of its potential. I really enjoy your content, thank you. Does anyone know of a start off video or series to walk me through a nube experience of getting up to speed that isn't necessarily 3 hours long? I know that sounds impatient but suffer from lack of free time at the moment and the to do"
So my speed on wifi was 366 and the Ethernet was 336, which would be better to use? I have a lot of devices on wifi so I was assuming as there isn’t much difference it’s better to use Ethernet.
I bought 3 then took em back and got the regular 4K fire sticks. I do a lot of side loading and third party apps. And they were all blank. I can’t deal with that garbage. Wolf launchers are cool but not for me
Hi Doc I use my phone tethering to get WiFi signal to my firestick but at times its pure rubbish. And at times its absolutely fine. Is there any way I can boost the WiFi signal from my phone for better streaming. For instance if I'm watching HD cinema. It buffers a lot which is so annoying. Thanks Doc. Arthur
Also purchased this on Doc’s recommendation and mine is also not recognised and makes no difference whatsoever, and going by some of the latest comments it’s not just me that’s having this trouble.
Doc did you ever do the video on how to add extra storage to the ethernet adapter? I can't find it on your channel yet you said you was doing it in a couple of days at the end of this video.
I did this and it worked great for about 3 days and now my internet speed is back down to 30 mpbs. And my firestick is showing 2.4g I don't know if it has a 5g or not
Uggg... learn to write a title. "On a wired fire stick." You all need to learn that because of a stupid click-bait headline, one click and I can just block you. Hope my one view was worth never getting another one from me.
@@DocSquiffy where my internet comes in at my computer it's wireless and it goes by any internet cable into my computer at 1.2 gigabytes I get at least 700 throughout the house
Easy Doc, I brought 1 of those Cable Matters OTG cable and I'm well impressed. My speed went from 96 Mbps to 323 Mbps so great stuff. Thanks for the info! 👍
@kacatriku Nope. I have a gig fiber optic. I average 350-400 download. I just wanted to check it on the Firestick and it wouldn't let me check the speed while I was following his instructions. He didn't say what to do after settings.
