I find it funny that cities in the states get FREE electric/water but we the people ARE CHARGED outrageous amounts of currency. These companies DO NOT shut the city street lights/public buildings off so why not funnel my tax money to pay for my usage AKA FREE TO ME THE TAX PAYER.
That is a tiny magnet. You probably need a bigger round one from China. It still doesn't seem to work with some meters without a visible metal shell. The magnet to be attracted and held is at the bottom of the meter away from the face plate, and the magnetic force has to reach there stronger than the other magnet that turns it.
Haha!! I have no idea how this video came to my feed but I like it. So many worked up people. Keep doing you man. These agencies have so much money I doubt you stealing will make any difference. The nice guy always finishes last 👍 thanks for sharing.
im surprised this works, usually the coupling magnets are buried deep in the center of the meter and it would take a tremendous magnetic field to affect them
Now you should realize that if you stop your water meter thevwater authority will notice. Even if you make it deviate from what its normally been for the last forever they will notice so do not leave these magnets in place instead when doing things like fillingva pool or bathing your pet elephant put your magnets on and when finished take them back off. After all what is itvlike $30 every 3 months... com'on now.
I live in a trailer my water meter is right behind the skirting , easy to get too.. I'm going to try this . They keep raping us on are water bill every month . There's ONLY two of us here and no matter how much we try to save cut corners , every month our water bill has been over 100.00 , it's a new water meter too. We've complained and many who live in this park has complained to no avail.. just going to try it once see if it does any good on my meter TY.
Dont you know they already make a fortune? When we pay more it means more money to the leaders/stockholders... not so much to the workers or anyone else.
I work for a water company and now we will receive an alert when the meter is read. For us, we will pull your meter and apply some penalties. It’s easier to just pay your bill and be honest.
Does your company make the customer pay for the device/meter that will be used to further charge them? That’s what’s happening to me and it’s bullshit.
Honest ? You are not getting a 9k bill my friend f… crooks they can do their scam and it’s legal? I’m getting a private well and all home owners should do the same .
Be honest? How about charging for the most abundant resource on the face of the planet...a renewable resource, honestly, there should be no monthly charge for water. Infrastructure and maintenance and treatment paid thru property taxes. Every other aspect of getting the water to your home rests on your wallet anyway in the form of a mortgage so youve paid for that part of the infrastructure so really whats left, just the water itself why the fuck are we paying for water on a monthly basis? Im with magnet boy, eye for an eye!
lol... funny i am pulling the readings using SDR and mapping to influxdb/grafana; there are 3 signals coming from wireless water meter; exactly which one would trigger an alert and how. Sounds like hooey to me.
I work for the water department where for the county that I live in if we catch something like this it is a tamper fee for stealing water which is about 60 dollars
I love how this govt drone says "IF" we catch something. Lets me know they have to actually drive out and find something wrong. Easy to work around that.
Not sure about RG3 meter in particular and this electronic register but magnets do not make a difference in static flowmeters...The magenetic may look like its stopping the counting but the magnetic only affects the screen display. Internally it keeps counting...Additionally, this magnetic he using is very small and typically takes a much larger one to truly stop the internal magnetic if the meter has one and that only works on mechanical type meters. Not to mention the potential for fines and violating law if caught..Yes, some do get caught...Then the water provider just cuts off your water.
News today water companies gave £1.8 Billion to shareholders meanwhile dumping millions of gallons of sewerage into our rivers and onto our beaches. Now because it is main news these same companies are going to fix the dumping and charge customers even more to cover the expenses. How much do you think the water companies will be giving to shareholders next year ? This is sanctioned daylight robbery !!
I was wondering about that. I live in NY and they attached a plastic meter wired onto my metal meter inside my house (not the one outside). My water bill is a few hundred dollars per month!!! What do are they thinking with the economy the way it is. I'm at my witts.
@@daddy9370 No problem just make sure you pay attention to the dimensions. When you get these magnets DO NOT get in between two of them and do not let thrm crash together. They are extremely brittle and that basically explode shooting razor sharp hunks of magnet most likely straight into your eyeball.
depending on the tech in the meter u set off the tamper alarm and yea getting caught up could result in some fines especially after posting the vid on youtube lol but hey filled up an above ground pool for free
Yes...we/I designed in a hall effect sensor just for this reason. It sends a flag to the server or the drive-by system. That said, I'm not sure what the utility would do IF they have that option turned on.
@@shaunbrennan4027 No you dont want too big of a magnet or you run the risk of altering the magnetism of the magnets inside the meter. You want ones that are just strong enough to counter act hall effect sensor inside the meter. If you put too big of a magnet on itll make it run faster a lot faster.
@@shaunbrennan4027 But you really should only do this if youre filling a pool or washing cars or something water intensive because if your bill goes from being a consistent amount used for years then all of the sudden drops like a rock they will come ask you questions.
If you scroll around in the comments i posted s link to some good ones to use on amazon. Sorry for writing a book. Not rwally a short answer to the question.
most water providers are moving towards non-mechanical meters anyways, so this so called "hack" wont matter as the new meters are non affected by this type of tampering.
Lol but can't they tell in real-time that you haven't used any water in 29 days (assuming you take it off for a few days per month) and that the usage is abnormally low (for an advanced meter)? Even if you put it on as a brand new resident on day 1, using 1/30th of the gallons that most residents in the area use would be pretty suspicious. I think it would only work on old water meters that don't detect magnets, and don't tell how much water is used earlier than the month like in real-time or shorter intervals than monthly. And you would have to do it so that your water usage is maybe half or so from the start and not extremely less than the average resident. But I suppose you could argue if you just bought the property that you didn't know there was a magnet on it and that the previous owner must have put it on. But they could take a look at the usage from the previous owner to see if that seems like it is true. I suppose they would also not know who did it, like the husband or the wife, but they would assume someone in the household did at some point and could probably just charge the household extra. How much would be hard to determine.
Bury a very strong Neodymium magnet near the device (it would be detectable) or use a switched electromagnetic coil to stop it when ever you want. Like when you fill a swimming pool!
Yes! I filled up my entire pool and my bill came the same $17 if you try it just make sure to remove it. If the City people are in your area you might get caught! This is a good idea if you like to water your grass or fill up a pool.
@customvideo454 Obviously you had trouble reading the comment where he said he puts in on and takes it off after he’s done filling the pool and hasn’t got caught...just quit trying to sound smart nerd.
I'm not sure jail time, Ive been doing it for 10 years but only when I need to fill up the pool not for daily uses. I do it at night time around 10pm and at 5am remove it. Haven't been cought yet.
Theyll send you s letter telling you about your abnormal usage and request that you have a plumber inspect your water meter if it continues they will penalize you and sock you with whatever they determine you owe them... then if you fail to pay that, then you get to go to court and most likely jail for the most petty thing ever.
Yes they have. It depends on how much is stolen and how many times they commit the crime. I've seen fines as high as $12,000 and people going to trial & serving jail time. One women stole $49,000 worth of water! This is illegal and screws over the rest of us who aren't criminals because the water company keeps upping the fees to account for all the money they're losing due to criminals like this guy.
Hey dude, did you know that these meters have magnet sensor? All of them have it. You are screwed now LOL. They will know exactly how much time magnet was attached. Of course it depends if they are smart and how they prepare bills, but 10000% meter collects such data. Then they can count the teoretical amount of water you could use with the maximum flow over that time, or simply tell you to pay the amount of water that is missing on their main meter. Have a nice day
I'm sure the purpose of a smart meter is they know if you have fiddled around with it and it registered back to the department. I would think a knock on his door will shortly arrive.
This is a great example about how not to upload a video. Spend a few extra seconds and plan a little. Tons of pointless footage. No explanation of what type of magnet, meter etc. Crikey.
Neodymium magnets n56 look on Amazon. I wouldnt recommend doing this but ill not stop you from finding out why. www.amazon.com/dp/B07DFZH4WT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_w51kFb638R3FE
Dont use too many or you actually make it run faster or youll possibly mess up the sensor inside. Pretty sure its a hall effect so do use too much magnet. How much is too much? No fuckin idea. If it stops completely thats probably too much.
Imagine if all people starting doing this, the municipality would lose millions of litres which would eventually bankrupt them to provide water to all the rest of people that are not crooks. This is why they raise prices of water to compensate the millions they lose already, why aid it. If you want a pool pay for your water or rain harvest rather. Rain harvesting doesn't get you arrested
@@timostimostimostimos don't agree because it takes funds to process the millions of litres consumed by us. It should be priced well but it's a business transaction in the end. Someone cleans it and gets it to you and should be compensated for their actions. If you want free water go to the nearest river and collect it. If you were being charged to collect water water from a local river I would stand by your statement as no one has played a part in getting that water to your tap, so you don't have to walk to a river.
Not yet it doesn't. But just wait for it. Corporations looking to find ways to continue their growth are coming up with novel ways to wring money out of people. Privatization of water resources has already started for ground water. I won't be surprised when they start grabbing up rights to the rain before it reaches the ground.
Not to mention what's being put into the water for it to be classed as so-called "clean" water.. I may be of a rugged nature, but I prefer dirt mixed with some deer piss n shit in my drinking water rather than the manmade byproducts of whom specialist make out to be beneficial.. even with rotten teeth and a few missing your smile is and always will be beautiful regardless, it's the prospect of expressing that smile in your later years is what is more of my concern.. peace, love & prosperity to all.. (Don't get me started on the electricity buzz..)
@SupaG00D Fort Nite ... so you have no more morals or ethics than the common thief in this video? I’m not surprised. This world is full of common thieves.
@@4kgamingerikchannel661 why should it be free? It costs money to treat, plus employment. If you wanted to argue it should be free for drinking, I get it. But a pool? You're pathetic, I'm doing my research to report you- yours truly,, a water treatment supervisor
Dollar Bill Seconded. This idiot is acting like he’s sharing a money-saving life hack. But he’s just a thief teaching others how to steal. Visual Learning, someone has to pay for the infrastructure, treatment and filtration, and pressurization of all that water. When you don’t pay your fair share of your usage of it, the water company or municipal utility has to slightly raise their rates to compensate. You’re not stealing from some faceless corporation. You’re stealing from their customers. And then you’re going on the Internet to show others how to do the same. You deserve to either have your water cut off or be in jail.
