@darylpritchardvideos is your bank not taking a surcharge on top of the exchange rate when you pay in dollars? That way it is not 2.75 dollars but 2.75 dollars in your exchange rate + a surcharge for a payment in a foreign currency. Seems like a one time payment of 33 dollars is much cheaper that way
i went from jfk to penn station in about 40 minutes for less than 15 bucks. air train from jfk to jamaca queens long island railroad ticket to penn station. thats it
On the subway and you use your credit card each time (up to the $33 limit) would you get charged an exchange rate fee on each tube journey? How easy is it just to buy a weekly pass at JFK?
We took last october the airtrain and then choosed Long Island Railroad instead of NY subway due to fewer stops and lesser time spend on the train, but I already took the subway and changed line to arrive in Brooklin.
can you pay for the metrocard / airtrain / subway with our UK Debit or Credit card? I don't like the sound of carrying more actual cash around New York unnecessarily
I'll be traveling alone, scary, from JFK to Penn Station to Philadelphia. So do I get the Long Island RR directly to Penn Station? And can I use credit cards?
I'll be in New York in a couple of weeks and this video was very helpful. Simple and clear. Thank you. I'm wondering though if the subway will be safe to use at night since my plane will be landing in NY at around 11 o'clock at night. I'll be going to mid Manhattan
Hi Pavlos, thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed. I’ve use the subway late at night early hours in the morning and not had any issues and not felt threatened. I would stay to the main lines. However this is New York City
Hi! Thanks so much for this very informative video! May i just ask if there’s any available escalators or elevators going out of the subway stations? I have slipped disc and i cannot carry luggages up the staircase 😢
Really helpful vid. Just booked my flight to JFK today and my hotel at Court Sq is only 5 stops away on the E train. Couldn’t have planned it better myself.
so If I undestand it correctly, you buy a metrocard then charge it with 33$ and it will give you unlimited travel for 7 days after first travel, is it right ?
Hello! This is very helpful. I have a question (not sure if it’s a stupid one) but the metro card itself, is this given to you from the machine when you pay on exit from the air train or do you have to get the metro card before?
Hi you can now use contactless in other words your debit or credit card to get through, alternatively you would need to purchase and put credit on a metro card at the machines before going thru
