I think transportation to/from Cambodia is more reasonable compared to USA, EU, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Japan etc..

Korean Air wanted to stop me from going WDC to Phnom Penh (no visa). I had to ask for a supervisor and ended up getting on the plane. That was only once out of 3 trips.

Regarding visa on arrival, I had the same problem when I went to Siem Reap. I had to convince people in Orlando and San Francisco (but for some reason, not Singapore) that Siem Reap had a visa on arrival but they let me through as I explained the various visa types and it being on arrival and that Cambodia is a small country and it is too expensive of Cambodia to process all the visas prior through their Washington embassy. The attendant in Orlando said the airline would be fined $5000 if someone didn't have a visa. Cambodia must get the word out to the FAA or whoever is in control of that policy that Cambodia has a visa on arrival.

That airlines are not aware of visa policies are sadly not that uncommon, especially for countries like Cambodia. Had the same struggle in Germany with Quatar Airways flying from Frankfurt/Germany over Bangkok to Phnom Penh. The system of Quatar Airways was full of misinformation. They only printed my board card because I had a 20 minute discussion at the checkin counter. I bet other people that are not that confident may give up at that point.

Singapore Airlines at LAX Los Angeles refused to let me fly to Cambodia because I didn’t have a return ticket. I exhaustively explained that I am retiring in Cambodia, it’s a one way trip. Two supervisors got involved, but Singapore airlines said it didn’t make sense to have a one way flight when I'm retiring in Cambodia. 🤬 😤 🤪 Chancing that airport police might get involved, I threw in the towel and purchased a return flight on the spot using my phone. I later cancelled the return flight, but had to pay $200 fees for that . I contacted Singapore airlines corporate but haven’t heard back yet. F’ Singapore airlines…. Anyways, sorry for the rant

Helpful information, luggage in tuk tuk can fly out in fast highway without properly secured.

quite expensive transportation to airport..50km... if you compare bus to PP which is 11-13 dollar....300km...

I exchanged a wats app Tex, just before his last blog in Seam Reap , he told me he had a stroke , so maybe he had another stroke, which killed him , Sad , he was good to Khmer people Peter

Thanks for another informative video. I was curious about the distance considerations to the new airport. I actually found the tangential information about the limited capabilities of tuk tuks to be most important to me. I may retire to Cambodia in a couple of years. I was considering getting a tuk tuk for longer sightseeing trips around the country. From the information you provided it seems like that may not be a feasible option.

Yeah, tuk tuks are great for local travel (around town, Angkor Wat, etc) but not really road safe for long distance travel.
