In India, most of Govt medical colleges charge not more than 50,000 INR per year + good stipend about ₹30000 during house surgeon under UG. AIIMS charges just ₹3000 per year (i think). Almost all AIIMS + JIPMER + few other Govt + Private Med colleges are not second to none

After 2 years in Curacao, I'll be going for my clinical rotation years in the US. It's a dream come true( and I never got an undergrad degree first ). Say I'm doing undergrad in New Zealand right now, should I finish it, then do masters for 1 year in US? Also how does the Master degree even work, because I thought that Masters degree IS the post graduate, "Medical School"

When I sat my medical pre-test examinations (straight out of Grade 12th) for my state in India back in 1991, I distinctly remember there being 410 "general category" seats for medical and dental students (50 dental seats+360 medical seats). There were 28,000 candidates sitting for the test statewide. That made the chances of success 0.012% for a candidate qualifying for medicine, assuming all successful candidates took the medical seats 1st (which they did). Just 12 in every 1000 candidates made it into medical school Vs 320/1000 applicants in HMS. Harvard Medical School ain't that tough. That's what I tell my kids in the US today.

For all those who are comparing neet with Harvard are delusional, its never about quantity of competition in west, its always about quality of education. Even the top rankers of different countries, not just india, fails to get into Harvard or MIT, every year majority of IIT single and double digit rankers apply for MIT too, but many a times even IIT JEE advance Rank 1 have not been able to get secure a seat there. Don't get carried away with the number of aspirants, quality of aspirants and complexity of exam matters more. Suppose you sit for an exam where there are seats, and only 101 students are applying, you might feel that its damn easy to crack it, but what if I tell you that 100 students amongst 101 are IIT Bombay CSE grads? Lol. So don't always fall for numbers. Numbers can be deceiving.
