I’m a first year student at LSE studying finance BSc, and just fyi, math is not as important as others criteria. A lot of people in the programme did not take further maths
Thanks for sharing David - whilst further maths is not a requirement, for those who are watching these videos before they decide they A level subjects, if you can get an A* in further maths, it is always beneficial to take it over a second non-quantitative subject. However, it is better to pick an alternative subject and get an A* than to get a low grade in Further Maths, which can harm an application. LSE care most about high grades so the closer to A*A*A*, the higher the chances of success! Good luck on your course and well done for earning your place!
Do you think doing maths at A-levels but then making up for not doing further maths by sitting the TMUA and other courses by MIT and Harvard is good enough?

Great question! LSE BSc Account and Finance does not require further maths. Account and Finance at LSE does require at least an A* in maths but you can apply with or without further maths. All the other tips apply equally to account and finance. It is prudent to pick a career plan that incorporates some element of both and accounting and finance such as building towards becoming a a Financial Director or CFO. Good luck!
@@the_profs Appreciate the swift reply! I personally did the IB and so they'd only asked for a 6 in Higher Maths, which I ended up surpassing. Cliche, but I still plan on pursuing the career of an investment banker, as I'm really not all that enamoured by a career related to accounting. So I'm mainly applying as to up my chances, considering a far larger number of people would think to apply Economics, and pure Finance than they would Accounting and Finance. Would still talking about my aspirations as an investment banker be a bit silly here, or would it be more intelligent to go down the route of a career accounting and finance related? And lastly, does LSE view students who did the IB with slightly more regard than regular A Level students, considering the course is a fair bit more difficult? Thanks for reading.
