Hello!
I know this is not a beauty video but with so many requests and questions regarding pharmacy I wanted to take advantage of BACK TO SCHOOL season to talk about it. Both my boyfriend and I are in pharmacy school currently and I gathered both of ours experience to answer the questions I gathered. I hope it is helpful and informative. Of course there is more to what I have mentioned so please feel free to ask me questions below. Also, if you're also in the same profession and have some additional advice or would like to share any experience feel free to! It's very helpful to everyone who's reading/watching as well :D

Congratulations on graduating from Pharm School! I'm a college freshman and I started college with the idea that I wanted to be a pharmacist. However, one of my professors scared me away from the career, but after watching this I feel better about my decision!

Shit! Me to! I talked to one college teacher in fire careers like a fire fighter but than I was like it’s a boring job the schooling is boring and just sitting around for long time like a “dumb” job no brain effort job 😂 he said what do I wanna do than and I said pharmacist I get to still help ppl but not a dr that sees sick ppl like a dr in a hospital. I don’t wanna tough sick ppl 😂 anyways professor was like ha! That’s not a real job ur family won’t take u serious that a lazy job . And the whole family won’t take me serious like I will b working at cvs or same place someone go buys hot Cheetos really? Hurt me so I gave up that thought of being a pharmacist but I got inspired again watching this vid! I went to college ASAP after high school for 2 years trying to get my associates degree but than stopped going kuz I got so lost and I didn’t know wer I wanted to go and what degree to get .

Michael Alay You'll break down in tears even more once you graduate with no job and 6 figures of debt. The Pharmacy job market is over oversaturated and will only get worse as greedy schools pump and more and more pharmacy students.

I'm a fifth year student in Doctor of Pharmacy (5 year) program! final exams are this September. Can't wait to finish. These 5 years were the toughest part of my life, not because of pharmacy and its contents - which btw if you give time isn't that difficult, but because of the living conditions, hardships and health issues i had to go through while i was undergoing all this.

Awesom Jen! I watch all of your videos and I'm glad you did one about school! I'm not interested in pharmacy but what you talked about applies to so many other professions. I tried to get into RU-vid to share by beauty knowledge but it was just way too hard with school. So kudos to you for finding time to do both!

Your video was very insightful. My question was that if you go out to study pharmacy out of state, would you then have to take another pharmacy exam to come back and practice in your state? Or is pharmacy universal discipline for the US? Does it differ in each state or will pharmacy school cover pharmacy practicum for that state alone? Please comment.

Great idea for a video! My husband just graduated pharmacy school. I LOVE that you're a professional with a beauty blog. He didn't do a residency. We moved to NYC shortly after we graduated, and the job market here is a little tight! We're still looking for something for him. Good luck with retail! You'd be wonderful in a management position...I can tell by how organized your videos are!

wonderful video, I am finishing up pre-reqs for MLT but was wondering if I could go into pharm. Not only was this video helpful, but inspired me.I know its going to be tough, but I tell myself that I am smart and if other people do it, I can too! I had no idea you did beauty vlogs as well, and I am also going to watch those too! I’m still deciding on what I want to do in life. I’ve been thinking about either becoming a pharmacist or a dentist. I’m leaning more towards becoming a pharmacist. I love helping ppl but I don’t want to be touchy either. And being able to give the right medications for various diseases sounds interesting. It’s crazy how I found something that I really want to do

OMG THIS VIDEO! I'm so glad I across this. I am a second year undergraduate working on my BS in biology and I recently got super interested in Pharmacy, not because of the money lol I mean I'm gonna be in debt for most part but like the idea of making the medication or recommending. So like YU said have a lot experience? I am studying to get my Pharm tech license and get a job, and also I am going to join the pre pharmacy club at my college! My question is like should I contact the school I'm planning on attending and ask if I'm on the right track? Like idk I'm scared, the pressure of not finding a job is intimidating.

I'm starting college this semester as a biochem major because I'm an aspiring pharmacist. Anxiety is getting to me because I don't know if I can do it. But I know if I work hard and stay motivated it will pay off in the end and I might even get into pharmacy school. I'm going to look back at this video when I need some inspiration lol

I love that this video is so helpful and informative! Congrats on almost completing Pharmacy school! For the longest time, I wanted to become a pharmacist as well, but in university I changed my mind because I felt like business classes just clicked more better with me! But props to you for completing all of your pre-reqs with a competitive GPA (I mean O chem II was hard), getting great references, doing well on the PCAT, and of course doing well in the interview! That's a really big accomplishment, and you should be really proud of yourself!

This is a great video :) Two of my cousins graduated Pharmacy school at USC (my uncle is the head of the department) and although I was never really into science/medicine/chemistry etc (I work in Accounting), I always wondered what it was like and what they'd actually do. Oregon state doesn't worry about the pcat and doesn't even require it for entry into osu's pharm school.

Thanks for your informative video! I live in TX so we have a 6 drop limit and I dropped 4 classes already. Due to this, I am a part-time student and a little scared that if I become a full-time student I will not be able to handle it and drop another course. However, I am going to suck it all up and try my best to become full-time so that I Pharmacy school admission committees or whatever it is called lol can see that I can handle the load of classes. My question is does it matter that I take long to grad with a Bachelors? ( and I am talking about more than 6 years of undergrad). I hope you see this question.

Matthew Francois Yea. All top pharmacy schools have a research program and you can focus on that side instead of clinical side. But if you want to go into research, a PharmD/PH.D degree may be more helpful.

I know this might sound a little silly if I am incorrect, but I am still learning, the pharmacy program I am looking into requires 65 hours of prereq's many of which she listed. Would these count at a community college? I am currently attending one right now and want to be sure that I am not wasting my time. I don't think I am, but I am still new to the way colleges work with each other.

Good luck on the naplex. I would not recommend the pronto cards if you plan to be licensed in other states beside Texas. My advice as a new practitioner 2010 grad is apply early, don't wait until the due date, maybe apply at least 2 months ahead. some programs are rolling admission meaning they admit as they go so later dates have fewer spots because they offer and students sent in their acceptance letter and even if they are not you still get 1st pick of interview dates and most likely hear back sooner for your acceptance. Volunteerism is also important or sub for work experience if it's hard to find a tech job, undergrad I helped at the free medical clinic and local hospital.
