This is an excellent video and guide. Having worked at Stanford and seeing the inner workings: Stanford values potential and humility. If you have a goal that benefits others, pursue it. Even if you don't think it is feasible.

I’m applying this year and one of my letters of recommendation contains some grammatical errors (mainly unnecessary spaces and commas) but the writer is an older man in his 70’s. Should I worry about this or will it be overlooked?

+linguamarina Sure will :) one question : for students applied for a MS program, are research papers mandatory? Lot of people on Quora say that atleast one research paper is required to get accepted. Please tell me your thoughts on this, thanks!

Publishing a paper is not a requirement like a minimum GPA or taking an assessment test while applying to university as a student. Researchers worldwide have a habit of publishing their works in a relevant journal when they have finished their work on something of interest. And like the lady said, you need to show who you are to a university to get accepted. If they think you are going to contribute to scholarly life on campus by looking at your publication they'll probably accept you.

you know my top three schools in life are Harvard MIT and Stanford. and Stanford being the closest for a masters. Because I live in the Bay area. I would drive to Stanford as an uber driver and slap myself for not being a good student and yell loudly with my hand gripping the steering once the customer or student has left the car! screaming why LORD! LOL not really the Lord part but WHY/? didn't I make the right choices or have the right motivation; guidance and environment or atmosphere. It boils down to those attributes really. But thank you for being such a kind spirit especially with the last line. I really believe I would see you someday in person! Keep helping others for free, this is the Will of God :) Thanks Marina, lovely knowing about you a little through your videos. You are a wonderful soul. =)
