Thank you very much for all the work you are doing. I am Mechanical Engineer by profession and currently working in Middle East in Oil and Gas industry. I am interested to do MBA in Operation/ SCM, please suggest which are the suitable Business school in abroad for a average candidate.
Dear Sameer, I have a masters in commerce, currently pursuing CMA and I am working as a Senior SAP Finance consultant in saudi arabia with more than 5 years of experience, I was a professional cricketer played for my state (Tamil nadu) and for university (Madras university); I want to augment myself with enough management skills and to strengthen my resume, i am willing to do an MBA, i am thinking to do part time without quitting job but not sure wether it would be advisable or not; kindly advise me considering my profile, which B school you would suggest and I am interested to take professional MBA admission consulting; kindly reply; Once again thanks a lot for your all efforts; its really helpful
The easiest way to succeed in any field is to work on it consistantly, and consistancy is the key to success. I experienced my self. By the way, thanks for the uploads , a fellow creator...
Just like always, MCB makes videos that are informative and stand outside the box. Given that many Bschools are abolishing the GMAT score for MBA in the 2020 fall intake and some even for 2021, is the same happening for MiM or MSc in finance? If no, then is it expected in the near future?
Since our focus is primarily on MBA programs, we haven't been tracking other masters programs. Considering how dynamic the situation is, it may be best to check directly on the official sites to see if they've changed the policy.
The information is very well structured. Its very helpful for a new aspirant. Thanks for the video... And one query, for someone coming from engineering background what pre MBA courses would you suggest before opting for an MBA in Finance???
You don't need to go for any formal courses before an MBA. But it sure would be helpful to read up beforehand on what you'll learn in the classroom. We've covered all the important MBA concepts here: www.mbacrystalball.com/mba-syllabus
How to make my profile strong when I want abroad admission without work experience as a fresher . How will my profile will be able to stand firmly even without the work ex factor ??????
We don't recommend an international MBA without experience. There's a reason why the average experience in the top bschools is 5 years or higher. If there are personal constraints for not delaying the process, you can consider the MiM degree. We have a separate video on that.
Thanks for providing such a comprehensive timeline. I am targeting fall 2021 and about to give my GMAT in July. I have shortlisted some schools and with 2 years of work experience I am just passing their threshold. It seems most of the B schools in Europe have 5-6 years of work experience on an average. Currently I have worked as software engineer and Operations Analyst. With a motivation to further learn business aspects like Marketing and finance that are generally not available to Engineering graduate and also to get international exposure, what should be the best suggestions given COVID-19 as well.
Since you're aware that your experience is significantly lower than the class average for most good programs, that alone is a good reason to be patient and continue building your profile. And of course, the corona situation is another strong reason for not rushing in when you aren't fully prepared to handle the heat.
Please make a video on how to grab the scholarships , what are the measurements to be considered. It think MBA will be a dream to a middle class person
I am 3rd year Pharmacy student I want to do MBA after my I degree course but sir I am confused in which field I want to do MBA because I like pharmacy and that's why how can I do MBA in pharmacy please give information about MBA after pharmacy through video please sir🙏🙏🙏
MiM programs don't ask for work experience. but they're not an alternative for a reputed mainstream MBA. We have a separate video on MiM. Check that out for more details.
What does it really take to get into an HBS 2+2 and more similar MBA programs? I also like the Yale Silver Scholars Program which is quite different than the 2+2 programs.
First of all, thank you for the free trial GMAT course. I am 23 years old, from Georgia, Tbilisi. I have bachelor degree in Mathematics with 3 years working experience at the bank as MSME banker. Can I apply to American MBA school with this work experience?
Yes, you can apply with 3 years of experience. It would be a little lower than the class average, so you'll need to step up and demonstrate to the admissions team why you deserve the seat more than the other applicants who bring in more experience.
Post MBA goals are what you want to achieve in the short and long term. e.g. career change, or better opportunities. Without those, it's difficult for admission teams to know whether they're admitting the right students, or if they'll end up disappointed after spending so much.
Sir i love your videos it helps me to clear my doubts but please make videos about mba without gmat in uk courses jobs salaries etc and about entrepreneurship courses colleges
We've covered MBA without GMAT here: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2015/07/27/mba-without-gmat/ As a general approach, it is not a good idea to aim for programs that make it too easy to enroll.
Hi Sameer Secured 720 in GMAT Engineering graduate class of 2012 Total workx 8 years Current exp : Take care of startups finding , evaluation models ,valuing the businese via PE/Vc companies plus digital solutions Looking to make a career switch to Vc/ Pe companies What could b right at this stage : Emba,Mba or Masters in finance Preferance: International degree from USA
A top-ranking MBA will be a better bet than an EMBA or MFin. Given your experience, it may be a bit of a challenge convincing US programs that you'd be a good fit for their programs. A good strategy to be have a mix of programs across regions, and include some where your 8 years of experience (9 yrs when you join) is an advantage, and not a liability. Here are some programs to look at: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2017/04/10/best-mba-programs-private-equity-venture-capital/
Challenge as in showing that despite having close to double the class average work experience, you'll still fit in well within the cohort. The number of folks who have too high or low experience in a class, tends to be limited. For American programs, the class average is 5 years.
Hey Sameer, I was wondering if i could ask you some lingering questions about pursuing an MBA. BACKGROUND: I wish to pursue an MBA in entrepreneurship as it would allow me to couple my creative engineering skills with management competency enabling me establish and operate my own business in the field of applied sciences and engineering. Unfortunately i wasn't able to secure a decent percentage in my 12th grade (getting only 66%) as i had done my O-level (10th equivalent where i secured equivalent of 85%) from Mauritius which followed Cambridge board. Since then i have been getting increasingly better grades in my undergrad (from Manipal University Jaipur) in chemical engineering (from GPA 5.5 (1st Sem) to 6.2 (2nd Sem) to 6.7 (3rd Sem) to 7.3 (4th Sem) to 7.7 (5th Sem) to 7.85 (6th Sem) to 8.1 (7th Sem). I anticipate really good grades this last semester (
Responses below, Akshay: - Between the two, we'd suggest being patient, building your profile and then aiming for better MBA programs. Better to stick to the financial times top 100. - Don't worry about grades now, other than what you can do in the final semester. - Won't be practical to suggest names (whether it's in USA, France or Germany) when you're still studying and have no work experience. - Here's how you can select the right bschool: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2016/02/03/how-to-select-business-schools/
I did Bsc In Microbiology Followed with PGDM BIOTECHNOLOGY. I took the management course because I wanted a quick job, and I was not particularly good with laboratory skills at the time. Now I feel management courses are useless. Because most companies ask for an experienced candidate. What can I do next? Feeling little ambiguous.
You can try picking up some specific skills in an area you like, even if it's not related to your qualifications. And then it's a matter of being persistent in reaching out to new companies, using your social circle to forward CVs in their org.
I'm looking forward to do Masters. I want to enter into the field of finance. What course shall I do MiM or MiF? Which course can help me better in future endeavours? The courses offered are from HEC( both MiM and MiF) and INSEAD ( newly launched MiM)
If you're absolutely certain about choosing finance, then an MFin would be more suite. Make sure you talk to international students in those programs to learn more about the ground realities.
Sir, i completed my graduation in agriculture and thought of pursuing MBA, After doing lot of research and going through your videos i came to know that without wrk experience i can't dream an MBA degree...so i'm planning to do Risk management course for one yr and then doing job fr another 2-3 yrs whch opens the door fr doing an MBA.This is my plan sir.Am i wrong in choosing this path? Please suggest me sir. ( OR) Skipping all these, jst writing the GMAT and opting for MIM program? Which one is better sir please suggest me!
I am preparing for my GMAT with an aim of converting ISB/ top global programs next year. I have had an quite frequent job changes esp in the last 1.5 years, moving from one startup to another, leading to 5 jobs in 5 years, currently looking for a job and will end up with 6 jobs when I apply next year. Is there any way I can mitigate the risk of being rejected due to this? Have you witnessed people with similar profiles getting an admit? While I realise such a qt has no definitive answer, it sure is keeping me up at nights. Irrespective I remain focussed on GMAT and my application motive.
While we've worked with several folks who've been able to overcome it, we'll admit that it does get tougher to justify frequent job changes. Make sure you get a very strong GMAT score and then help the admissions team understand the reasons for those transitions. Here are some perspectives that you might find helpful: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2018/09/24/explain-frequent-job-switching-mba/
Please make a video on the job opportunities for mba international students after graduating in Uk vs USA. Please also add will low CGPA below 6.5 will effect the chances of me getting into top 20 business schools in USA and Uk please we are a bit confused In this topic ! I’m
We have separate videos on USA and UK, which include sections on work permits that international students need in order to work in those countries. Beyond the visa constraints, it comes down to the transferrable skills you bring to the table. On the low CGPA query, read this: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2015/04/13/managing-low-academic-grades-gpa-mba-applications/
The profile building process doesn't differ based on the country. What we've shared in our earlier video on how to build a profile, should work across regions.
The value of such courses tends to be limited. Don't go for them assuming it'll impress admission officers. Pick them only if you see yourself picking up a skill that you can use.
Sir, can you please make a video on the latest information about few B-schools not asking for GMAT Scores and providing special discounts and scholarships?
Hi Sir, Does the company brand name matters for business schools in abroad during application process? Actually I'm working in a IT startup company currently so should I switch for bigger companies?
There's no 'best major' to recommend, since the choice should be driven by the career goal. Most engineers end up choosing consulting at their top career goal, since it's a great way to get an exposure to multiple industries before choosing one (as the exit option). Have you seen our video on specialisations? Plenty of ideas in there.
When should a candidate write the optional essay in the Stanford mba application? What do people write about because it is very similar to the activities section of the application? Does it bug the adcom?
Its my hobby to study every startup. So I thought of creating a website where I can share my researches. Will this also help in building my gmat profile? Hi Sameer, can you throw some light upon this?
It could be a profile enhancer depending on what you've done, and how it has helped you in practice. For example, if you've used some of those ideas to grow your own blog (treating it as a 'startup'), that's a good way to show the relevance and impact - making it more than just a hobby.
Respected sir, I am a freshman at my college and pursuing engineering. My college is ranked in the top 50 of the country. I was wondering if you could tell me what I can do to increase my chances of getting into the Yale SOM program. Thank you for your time
Focus on getting top grades while you're a student, and then spend a few years working on your professional profile. We have a separate video on the channel that covers ideas on how to improve your profile. Check that out.
Hi Sameer, I have 3 years of work ex. Team lead in a quick span of time with several promotions. Gmat score is 710 but my college ( AKTU university) percentage was 71% . Will my percentage be a barrier if I am applying to Trinity College or UCD? Or shall I improve my gmat score to counter it?
Graduate performance is water under the bridge now, so don't worry about it. The GMAT score is still in your hands. If you think you've got the potential to go beyond the current score, then it's worth a shot, as that would open up better opportunities beyond the schools you've listed.
Sir, I'm a bba graduate (3 year program in India) . I'm interested in doing MBA in international business(IMBA) in Canada. Can you please let me know the scope and admission requirements. will i get accepted with 3 year degree and 2 year work experience? and also what's the difference between MBA and IMBA. edit: which one is better MBA OR MBA in international business OR MIB
Read this on applying with a 3-year degree: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2019/09/23/mba-after-bba-bsc-bms-ba-bca-bcom-llb/ And a reputed MBA is better than all variations.
I’m planning to pursue MBA in finance from Canada. I have a total working experience of 3 years. But my concern is that I have graduated from Mumbai University- bachelor degree in financial market and the degree is of 3 years. Which makes my total education - 15 Years.(12+3) Will this be an issue in the Canadian universities? Can you please let me know which are good colleges for MBA in finance and also accept 15 years academy
Hi MBACRYSTALBALL, I got your contact information while refering to one page on quora. My question is related to managing the money for doing the MS. How much personal contribution is required and how much loans and scholarships are provided? As I'm not from a strong financial background so I'm very much curious to know about the financial part of this program. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Nilesh
Most international students manage the finances with a mix of personal savings, scholarships and loans. There's no fixed formula to arrive at the mix. Those who can afford it, might pay 100% from their savings. Others might aim for 100% scholarship, by targetting lower ranking programs.
I am currently pursuing chartered accountancy ,then do 1 yr job and do ms in finance abroad and after that work for 2-3 years and then go for MBA abroad. Is the plan viable ? To do both mfin and MBA both?
Do you know any universities in the US offering direct PhD in Entrepreneurship without the MBA, Sameer? Would be happy if you have some relevant info on this
Not sure about this. PhD programs generally don't insist on an MBA. Here's the set of requirements for a PhD in Entrepreneurship offered by LBS. They don't mention an MBA in it: www.london.edu/phd#howtoapply
Hello sir i have completed b com honours and qualified cma usa exams, May i know how i can bulit my profile for increasing my scholarship chances in a top mba(finance) programmes?
I am currently in pre final year of B.E in Electrical and I am preparing for my applications and GMAT, for 2021 intake of b schools. My aim is to get enroll in top b school in MiM program. However, I am bit confused between MiM and MIB program. So, it would be great if you help me out of this dilemma.
Both the programs, MiM and MIB, have more similarities than differences. The primary area where they differ is that an MiM is a general management program, while MIB has a bigger focus on global business models.

Hello sir , I am from Belgaum, Karnataka currently I'm in 2nd semester of BCOM , and I am looking forward to apply to the Business schools abroad for a deferred MBA program . So I need your help to understand the application process and whether I should opt for the deferred MBA program or go with the regular program. Hope to hear from you soon.
You don't necessarily need an MBA to start a business. If you have an idea, you can start small and learn more on your own, than you'd learn in a bschool.
As there would be global economic crisis in the further time as per experts, how to deal if am planning to return and get employment sometime abroad after my mba,how can we deal with Roi & job ? Should I opt for courses in my country itself or what would be your opinion ?
It depends entirely on your level of (dis)comfort with risk and uncertainty. If you're thinking is more on the conservative side, it's best to hold on to your job and wait till there's more clarity.

Hey I am preparing to take the GRE so that I can apply to B Schools sometime later. However, I came across an article recently stating that for Spring 2020 and 2021 some of the most prestigious universities are doing away with the requirement for a GRE/GMAT score in view of covid 19. Could you please shed some light on this.
Some bschools have done that for late rounds (i.e. R3) to attract more applicants, since test centers are closed. However, they haven't taken a stand on the next admissions cycle yet, as there's still time for the Round 1 deadlines.
Won't be a good idea to change tracks at this stage, if you haven't already planned for it. Better to go for the next season in a more structured manner.
Hi, I'm fresh out of college and I want to venture into management consulting after I complete my MBA. What specialization do you think is best to get into the BIG 3 or BIG 4 consulting firms?
Other than getting a top MBA, the other thing consulting firms look for is an ability to solve problems analytically. Brush up your case interviewing skills.
Self-study works well for a lot of applicants, since it allows them to pace the prep at their own speed and personalise the prep materials based on their strengths and weaknesses. Have you tried that first? If that doesn't work for you, many online GMAT courses offer free trials. Give those a shot to get an idea of whether it suits your learning style.
Sir how would you rate Beedie School of Business, SIMON FRAISER UNIVERSITY for a full time MBA? I have around 6.5 years of work experience in IT industry. The tops ones are too expensive and I can't afford them anyhow. In terms of less tuition fee, I found this to be the best with respect to the location. Kindly share some insights.
It doesn't figure in the Global Top 100, so we aren't aware of it's market value. And given the current economic situation, it will get tougher for MBA grads from lower ranking programs to find good breaks. With the right application strategy, there are several good options in the top 100 where you may be able to get a scholarship. What's your GMAT score?
Why not try fixing the weak areas and then giving it a re-shot? With the amount of experience you have, it would be good to have a degree that matches your aspirations, rather than settling for something that doesn't excite you. Read this: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2015/03/20/low-ranking-mba-programs/
Hi sameer, I have a query. That is it possible to get scholarships in Australia for masters in finance major in analytics for fintech. Profile : Bachelor degree graduating in 2021 march. Cfa level 1 Some extracurriculars including community services etc. And 2 startups. One failed due to political issue and 2nd got low coz of covid. And a good story to tell as well. About to give Gmat after situation gots ease. Can you give a insight idea that is that person be eligible for any kind of scholarship. Coz he is not that much financially statble but loves to study And do research.
The chance of getting a scholarship is directly proportional t the strength of your profile and inversely proportional to the ranking of the program. So, if getting it is very important for you, aim for programs where your stats would be much better than the class average.
A few quick queries to understand your current position. How many years of full-time experience do you have (excluding the articleship)? What's your long term career goal?
It's the other way around. Business schools are struggling to enroll international students. Rejections, if any, will continue to happen based on the quality of applications. Applicants are more in the drivers seat to a large extent, deciding for/against international programs.
Hi Sameer Can u please guide about Australian B schools.. especially Melbourne business school and AGSM..r they worth the amount of money and time spent..how's the ROI??
Those are among the few that figure in the Top 100 global MBA rankings, but not in the same league as the elite ones. If you're looking to move to Australia and settle there, it might be worth a shot. But then if immigration is your primary objective, you could consider that directly rather than spending time and money on an MBA.
@@MBACrystalBall Actually I am a practicing doctor and want to pursue MBA for a career change..also want to migrate to Australia..hope now u can guide better...
We've worked with doctors before but not for Australia. Rather than relying on consultants to suggest whether the RoI would be good or not, get in touch with alumni who've managed the career transition you're aiming for. You'll get a better idea of the risks and rewards. Consultants (like us) can come in after that to help you with the execution phase i.e. application reviews, storyline building, career positioning etc.

Dear sir, I have Two admission offers from essec business school in france and HHL Leipzig in germany for their full time MBA programs. Given the situation, although the lockdown is partially getting lifted in phases but I am not sure which school will be a better choice for me. Also if I should defer by an year.
MBA Crystal Ball I scored 680 in gmat. Post mba goal is to work as a consultant in tourism sector that is opting for a different sector from my present field or working in marketing domain
You probably know about the predictions on how the virus will impact industries such as tourism. And graduating from a non-English speaking country will add to the challenges. With that GMAT score, you could've aimed for other (higher ranked) programs. Did you do that?
@@MBACrystalBall Well, Europe has always been my first choice to pursue MBA abroad. This plan of choosing tourism industry was from the times before COVID-19 hit the world. I chose france for multiple reasons: 1. Long stay job search visa. 2. Benefits to the students from the government. 3. More number of scholarship options. 4. Lesser tuition fees compared to US Bschools. Apart from French Bschools, I applied to some other schools such as Mannheim, WHU, HEC as well. But got calls only from GGSB, ESSEC, and HHL. GGSB out of these three was preferred initially for its low cost but eventually I ruled it out. Thus leaving with ESSEC and HHL as my options. I am leaning towards ESSEC more because its constant international repute, strong alumni network, and also favorable scholarship options.
Thanks for sharing. Be aware of the fact that most MBA brands have a greater value within the host country, so don't bet too much on its international repute. Here are some more thoughts on that: www.mbacrystalball.com/blog/2016/05/20/value-foreign-mba-india/

OR How CA can get into ivy league college for mba..?
It's quite difficult to get into elite consulting or investment banking companies if you aren't from one of their regular recruitment sources (i.e. bschools). The admission process for CAs is exactly the same as it is for any other applicant.
Sir,I'm planning to do POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN RISK MANAGEMENT whch is an year course. But i'm nt sure it is a good idea to pursue.so plz help me sir!!
If you aren't sure, then it's best not to pursue it. Work for a few years and then apply to good mainstream programs where you're certain of its market value.
We operate on an online model and our focus is primarily on MBA applications. For information on fees, it's best to check out the official websites for the latest information rather than rely on others. Visa applications are more administrative in nature and there's not much that a consultant can do about it.
All good MBA programs will expect a few years of work experience. If you can't wait for that long, you could consider the MiM degree. We have a video on that on our channel.
