I feel like it the luck of the draw. I've been doing all of these tips and the algorithm doesn't even skim through my channel. Post as much as possible and do what you love doing. If it hits, great! If it doesn't, at least you are doing what you love.
@@strength-in-love that’s my problem.. If I had more time to invest I could do soooo much better but I’m not getting paid to create videos, and I work a full time job that is so demanding. I work at least 60 hours weekly. I just wish I could do what I love (which is make content) and be compensated for it. Maybe some day!

Thank you so much for this, currently starting in 2020 and trying to grow! I am happy with how I am growing but would like to see it speed up a little bit. I am consistent but need to work on some things within my videos. I have been getting good tips from the people that are viewing them though and I implement all tips I receive.
I've stopped the video after the first three minutes just to soak that in. That is such valuable information. Thank you. Instead of thinking that I'm throwing up videos that no-one wants to watch I now understand how important the tags, description, etc are and why it takes so long to get noticed. Now I have a light at the end of the tunnel to keep heading toward.

Gillian's videos have helped me a lot from the start of COVID. My goal was to monetize in 2 years, I did it in less then 1 year. Consistency helps a lot, I do 2 videos a week and as she says the first 1,000 is the hardest, the next 9000 will have taken the same time as the first 1,000. I really need to work on my Thumbnails, that will help advance you more quickly, I've just been procrastinating.

I've been doing RU-vid for 6 years and am still trying to get to 1,000 subscribers lol. I think it all comes down to luck and getting even 1 viral video because I know lots of people that work so hard on their channel and don't get the recognition they deserve.
Hi Really interested, checking out the water before jumping in (yeah I know “just jump” and learn but I’d rather take lessons, thanks) What kind of YT channel are you making? Is your type of channel very full of competitors or a very different type of niche? Do you do a lot of videos per week or month? I am wondering 💭 how I will come up with enough content. Meanwhile my friend wants me to do music videos for him- at least I’ll get in practice.

My channel has totally stalled in the 800 subs. Not getting new subs and views are down. Plus, people have stopped commenting even though I ask questions, etc. Have you addressed these issues?

I'm struggling to stay positive about growing my channel which I know is silly because even though I haven't hit my rhythm yet and I don't have a lot of videos on my channel I do know that I have become much better at the overall process. I only have to look at the progression from my start to present to see that but I am a single father with literally no help or support so some days I have to convince myself not to give up and other days I feel much better about making this happen for me and my daughter. Today I'm on the fence but this video along with some of the comments has def helped me to remember that I am capable of making this work if I do the steps to get there. Thanks Gillian.

Thanks a lot for the tips, I think I need to focus on my thumbnails, titles and descriptions. I put a lot of effort on doing the videos and editing then, and then I am tired when I get to the thumbnail/title/description part 😅

This year, the pandemic helped me get motivation to start uploading more vids. My question is...do you think it would’ve been better to close this channel and start a new one from scratch?
