This is ridiculous. Tell the big guy grabbing you to resist and lets see how easy it is to flip him around. As soon as someone grabs you they will be pulling you back, you WONT BE ABLE TO LEAN FORWARD.
@asteriskcolon
@asteriskcolon 8 лет назад
You're partially right. To do a technique like this correctly, you would need to know the attack is coming ahead of time (even if ambushed, you might have a second or two to prepare) and "lead" your attacker just enough so they couldn't have their balance settled at any point in the throw. A good Aikido school will practice the lead against resistance again and again until it becomes instinctive and dynamic.
@asteriskcolon
@asteriskcolon 8 лет назад
In the real world? This is a multiple attacker situation in the video... you can't go from multiple opponents to one and label the transition as "going from fantasy to reality" People gang up on one person in the real world too... The reason he throws him forward is to use the headlocker as a human weapon (like a bowling ball) against the other guy... and I can vouch, it takes years to learn to do the throw he did in the video reliably, but it can be done... it's less mechanical and more psychological, which is why you would need to train it for years. You have to have his balance and connect to him just right, and developing that sensibility takes a long time.

One person grabs another person stabs is a dark worst case scenario, but that's a thing we train for in Aikido. It's not *common* but I'd say it's in the realm of real world scenarios. You don't have time to catch the hitters hand in a grab and stab, but also, they probably aren't hitting you because the stab is what's on their mind (even though they're not the one stabbing).
@asteriskcolon
@asteriskcolon 8 лет назад
I would think the point of these videos would be to encourage people to train Aikido, not try these techniques as they saw them in the video IRL... that said, the way he demos the technique is more or less the correct way to do it (but you don't see the 5+ years of practice he had to ensure he could do the throw correctly). So, yes, irresponsible if the people watching are also so irresponsible that they now think, from watching a video, that they know Aikido...

Oh..then i suposse that in my case it was magic or something. And i think that all of you forget about something...this is a instruccional technique video....not a tutorial in self defense. In real life first thing i´ll do is to search for his groin and squeeze it. THEN i´ll apply any of those techniques. WHY? because if i let him apply his full strength, then as you say nothing of this will work....but nothing of this, and nothing of anything. Aikido techniques DON´T work without atemi.

@@walidhmd In my village, every boy will fight eventually, and my dad know that very well so he taught me not to punch my friend in the face or vital point because it was not worth it, I might cripple or kill someone for toys or whatever kids are fighting for at that age, and RNC is one of the first things he told me, I use it in a fight, and sometimes I use it in a play fighting. Because I wasn't allowed to punch so back in the day, I was very relly on grappling and RNC is one of my favourite moves. As I growing up, I watch MMA, UFC, Bellator, PFL, and One Championship every week, watch a lot of BJJ, and many other combat sport too, so I was quite familiar with RNC because it was the moves I was using since I was a little kid and it was a common move you will see in MMA or BJJ and I've been observing it, try and use it from many different positions, standing or in the ground since I was a kid. When I say I am familiar with it, that means I've done some research, trial and error hundreds of times, maybe more. We used to have a game, we call it play fighting, it's a game where you and your friend hit, punch, kick, choke, taking down each other for fun, but not 100% power, and no hard feeling. So that is where I train my RNC, or try many different theories about RNC, and from that, I know that the video above is bullshit. You know why? When people grab your neck from behind, the first thing they do is not standing there, they will drag you down on your back, or they will lift you up, and slam you to the ground because that is the most secure position. How do I know this? because that was what I do back in the day, that was what my friends do when I ask them to choke me and make it real, that is a natural move. And if the guy does that, you won't be able to throw him like in the video above. Even if he keeps it standing, you wouldn't be able to throw him like that in a real situation because he will feel your moves and will react, position himself, and you will only carry him on your back for 3 or 4 seconds before you passed out. Do you know how I know? because I try it, from both positions, with many different guys. it only took about 5 to 7 seconds to pass out from RNC. I once ask 8 or 9 years old kid to choke me, and the pressure is more than enough. In a real fight, people will react, not just standing there waiting for you to slam them like in that video above. Do you know what you should do? you should avoid RNC, if he grabs your neck from the back, grabs his hand, tucks your chin, makes sure his other hand didn't find his other hand and wrap it on the back of your head because you are fucked up if he does. From that position, you could move your hips to the side to escape, if he chokes you with your right hand, you move to the left, if he chokes you with the left you move to the right. But if the chokes is tighter, you can't do that, you have to loosen it up, keep one of your hands to create a space on your neck, and use the other hand to hit his face, or moves your hips and hit his groin, or you can use your butt to do that, you can also foot stomp him, or use the wall behind you. That is why people will drag you on your back or slam you on the ground once they wrap their hand, it's to prevent you for escaping, or hit his groin. The technique you find in the video is dangerous because it wasn't real. Teaching untested moves of martial art is dangerous because you will give people the confidence to use it and when they use it, they fucked up, and in a street fight, there is no rule. You might find a bad situation or a bad guy and you think you can take him out, you just piss him and makes him angrier. It is stupid, it's like a Taekwondo guy teaching people to defend themself using a high kick. It's useless, yes kicks are stronger than punch, legs are bigger than hands, but it takes years to master it, way longer than a punch. You ask a regular guy to kick, he is out of balance, his kicks are slopy and easy to dodge and predict, he just put himself in a way worst situation. Or like a BJJ guy teach a woman to defend herself from a rapist but start from guard position using a triangle choke or armbar, yes it was great moves but just like many other moves, it takes years to master, to know many different set up, to know the timing, and to have the physical ability to pull it off. and you know what, teaching that is stupid, a guard is the last position you teach to defend against a rapist, that is the last position you want to be in. You know what to teach? Teach the girl to run, to use their bag to punch the attacker, to kick them in the balls, or attack their neck etc and run. teach false martial arts is dangerous. someone might take your advice, thinking they were invincible and that is dangerous. They might enter a situation they aren't supposed to, or against a guy they aren't supouse to, and there is no rule in street fight, and some guy aren't afraid to takes your soul.

well, I´m sad to say, but these things will never work, if someone really wants to choke you. Get somebody in who knows how to choke and try, especially as you mention "experienced" attackers. Any eperienced attacker will use the choke to _get you off balance_ while choking. Being off balance means that you will never be able to pull off your weight shifts which are necessary for the shown throws. They might work against your drunk uncle pretending to choke you. But that is not what you claimed...

I just have two absolutely crucial things to add to that last technique to get out of a headlock. This is a technique i've used a lot in the dojo and actually also a few times in real situations and this version of it has some serious flaws. First off, if your attacker is taller than you, or if he has practiced headlocks before and has the correct posture to preform this headlock -then you simply won't be able to reach around to his face and this technique will fail. But fear not! The solution is just as simple as effective. By simultaneously using your idle hand to strike his groin you will cause him to bend over slightly, whether you hit or miss! In training we strike the inner thigh with the same result, it's a pure reflex as any male human will testify! = ) It also makes an excellent distraction and should always be used regardles of whether you need it for reach or not. The second thing is that you don't want to grab your attackers forehead, or even his chin, because that will have no effect against a stronger opponent. What you want to do is to put your hand over his mouth and then slide your hand upwards while keeping pressure against his face to press the tip of his nose upwards. This will cause him to bend his head backwards regardless of how strong he is, as it is a reflex. When his head is bent back you just press straight down on his face to bring him to the ground. An alternative method (again, if you have a reach disadvantage) is to go for his adam's apple, though this requires a little more force. But whatever you do just don't go for the chin or forehead like in this demonstration. That must be the absolute worst way to execute this technique! As it does not incorporate any reflex or pressure point it can turn into a power struggle that you may lose if you have a strenght disadvantage, and even if it lasts for just ½ second it makes you extremely succeptible to counter techniques, like for instance a dual legsweep from behind. If you do find yourself with a hand on your attackers forehead, always go for the eyes or an eye immediately! P.S. There is also a pressure point located behind the lobule of the ear right in between the jawbone and the cranium that you can dig a finger or two into, but that's a bit advanced, and does not incorporate any of your attackers reflexes, it just causes a lot of pain and it is definitely nothing you should rely on even if you know what you are doing! But if your reach is too short even to go for the adam's apple then this is the last place i can come up with that you could possibly reach so let's just call it a last ditch effort when all else fails. God luck to all of you, and may you never find yourself in need of this knowledge!

Once a guy got me in the last headlock. Quite safe?! He choked me out! And I knew jiu-jitsu and all the possible defenses. Many years ago, I was walking down the street in a rough part of Mexico City. I had trained in aikido, but hadn't practiced in quite a few years. A guy came up behind me, grabbed me in a headlock like the last one demonstrated, while holding a knife in his other (outside) hand. I was bent over, and anyway, he was quite a bit bigger than me, so I couldn't resist his dragging me into an alley. That was mistake #1 - trying to resist. (Well, actually, mistake #1 was not paying attention to what was going on around me.) When all else failed, and he had me half way into the alley, I figured I might as well try aikido. I simply turned into him. I was still pulling back, and I went flying out of his headlock backwards, did a backwards roll onto the sidewalk. The guy followed me, stood there completely confused, and then walked away.

And if MMA is about attacking people in the streets and people are misusing it I think these Gym s need to definitely screen people better. watching UFC will not win against a well-trained Aikido ist nine times out of ten. the technique of aikido save me in a street attack and that's all the proof I need.

Guy guys. No. I love aikido, i bought the dynamic sphere book! But really, test these things for real! The partner has to resist entirely and stiffen up. After a headlock or grab comes a throw(likely to the ground), an impact shot of some sort or hidden weapon injury (edged weapon), etc. Training is for preparing to respond instantly as possible to stagger the assailant, avoid the follow up strike whilst or then applying counter technique or escape. Any soft practice means...we are dead! Keep it real, make it real, test-test-test! for the haters...of course i'm not saying to injure the training partner, just keep practice realistic, like maul mornie at Maul565. The rear naked choke defense was "OK," but I find the guillotine defense a bit unbelievable; how is what he did better than a double leg take down? I also find the third defense, the headlock defense, a bit unbelievable as well; how is that better than a side-leg scoop? And that third one, even with the guy having a weak hold, you aren't safe like you claimed here. He could get a real hold on you, hit you with the other hand, or even do a bulldog drop on you. And on the second one, if he didn't sprawl, why not just commit to the takedown? If you wait to punch his thighs, he could very-well DDT you or lock your free hand that you are trying to unbalance/throw him with and proceed to feed you knees. I'm not trying to be mean here, I would just like to here your reasoning to choosing Technique A over Technique B; when yours would be better than the other and if these situations have merit, as the techniques you displayed are ones not taught in orthodox to what I have learned. I'd really love your input.

there are many ways to escape 1 choke. you can do your double legs takedown, sure they work and if they work for you thats great. but a 100 lbs woman cant probably do that to a 200 lbs man...however, no matter how strong u are, your nose gets pulled back and you are going down, it makes you lose balance. if you dont believe me just try it!!! each discipline has a way to escape other techniques that works for them based on their principles. i dont practice aikido but i believe they dont try to fight strength against strength, they use their opponent's strength or go for weak spots. they are not taught in what you have learned simply because what you have studied is for the ring, a sport. there are rules and you dont go for the nose, or eyes. if there are rules, why bother practicing techniques that are OUTSIDE the rules and you arent going to use them, period. on the street however, there arent rules and you can go for the nose, the eyes, the throat, the testicles, the clavicles, etc. also, since choking someone is considered deadly force (you can kill someone or injure them for life) i believe, according to the law, you can use lethal force to defend against lethal force if your life is in immediate danger. you can sprawl all you want, punch, commit to the takedown, etc then you realize the person you are choking is stabbing you in the testicles/stomach/face.. what is the wrestling/judo/jujitsu/grappling defense against a stab to your testicles/face/guts/hands/arms/legs?

I once got into a playfull fight with a taek won do/ aikido guy and he tried to do this to me once i got him into a hold and it didnt work. He was as big and strong as me. He was grinding and trying his hardest and he didnt budge from the choke and i didnt even need to put much effort in it . This is quite inpractical.

Exactly! Once you get caught in this choke you had better have a boot knife, I’ve seen a much more realistic video on how to escape this very same hold, since your arms are free when you are getting choked out, reach into your pocket and retrieve your lighter ( always a smart move to carry a lighter) and burn the attackers arm, it works.

In the last technique sometimes the opponent is trying to drag you down to the ground faster than you can do your escape technique. Solution to this is actually make a roll like if you where pushed hard in back by surprice. The opponent will fall with you and after your roll you end on top of your opponent making a sidemount.

For the side headlock I think the best move is a slight variation. Still reach up around the openers head but you’re reaching for right underneath of his nose. Where the nose meets the lip. Use your middle finger to apply pressure upward and backward just as if you were reaching for the chin or forehead. But there is a pressure point here and it’s a guarantee they will go down. I study Hapkido. Very similar. But also many differences. It’s fun to compare and contrast lol
@odysseustdm7573
@odysseustdm7573 Год назад
If it’s an actual fight, if he turns his head on the other side your hand will slip on his face and won’t do no harm. When you try to do it again he will bite your finger off. The nose is indeed better than the forehead but against an actual opponent that could be drugged it’s unlikely to succeed

I'm sorry but this is pure rubbish. This, like a lot of your videos, is pure speculation. "What would I do in this situation, how would I defeat that type of attack" then follows some techniques which simply don't address the reality of a real life attack. If someone grabs you arround the neck, and is pulling you back, with every intention of resisting your natural reaction to break free, this nice smooth, forward throw simply does not work. This is the problem I see with martial artists. They train their art, are very good at their art (I'm sure you are great at Aikido), but they do not have a realistic idea of what a real life attack is like. So they say, I can defeat X, Y and Z like this and that, but it just doesn't work like that.

Really doubtful that you can escape headlock in a real life, especially against an experienced grappler. Properly taken, you'll have a couple of seconds to perform your escape or you're being choked. More of that, the grappler will never allow you to hit his body as he will move to the side, protecting his body and groin. Maybe this technique will work on some street bully, but it is just "maybe".

I usually give Aikido the benefit of the doubt, but come on. A small 115 pound girl (just for the sake of argument) against anyone with a weight, height, and muscle advantage isn't gonna get that throw. If they do and the attacker doesn't let go (which they won't) she's gonna get seriously hurt. I don't recommend that over-the-body throw at all. Here is a Krav Maga version which I think is much safer and gives you a greater bodily mechanical advantage: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0D2ldyBJGWM.html

The side-head-lock is a Sankyo waiting to happen. Just grap his upper hand, push up and your head is home free while his hand is already twisted. That headlock is dumb unless he takes you down to the floor. The other locks are are breakable ONLY if you can grab his second arm before he closes the lock. Remember, no one can actually perform a choke with just one hand. It's impossible.

1. While you do a standing rear naked choke, pull your opponent down. He won't be able to throw you that easy (or even jump on his back). Also remember to squeez rather than push the head 2. If someone shoots for a double leg with his head outside you will probably win anyway but make sure to lock your guillotine and jump guard. Not much he can do after that 3. If you, for some reason, try to side headlock someone make sure you let go before they take your back

Ok so the other guy is a bouncer and there for obviously has very real expireance with noncooperative sparing What this guy is suggesting is feasibly possible, it’s a judo move If u can grab there arm as it comes around your neck and do it hard And if the aren’t bigger than you But it’s not too hard to make it impossible to get this technique U just have to have good posture breaking pressure What u do is simply give a little jump and load your weight onto him and pull back This will buckle buckle his knees and completely break his base The best thing for him to do is to term and face his apoinent Turning towards the choking arm Driving your elbow between you both and dig for an underhook

I'm tired of comments like "This is so fake", "MMA or Brazilian jujitsu" or "can not be used in real life". Guess what? In real life, one is not looking for a fight for each person, or looking for a reason to hit another. (If you do, you are an antisocial and most likely end up in prison). Any martial art - with ethics - does not seek to become a bully but a tolerant person with the control of your own emotions. I want to add that if you have the misfortune to fight in real life, everything is decided in a moment (sometimes even life) and comes out victorious that take advantage of the neglect of the rival. The street is not a ring, they do not give you points to last longer and if you are someone who is strutting, lacking respect for the rest and believing himself superior, you are very likely to end up dead.
@TexanBurgler

This is not going to work in a real fight against someone who has a locked choke... the only 2 ways you can unlock a choke is to pop the hands or from a rear choke, use your weight down to throw the balance forward and jump squat on your back to fall on you opponent's sternum with all your weight which should cut his breath and set you free...I've done it against 250 pounders. But don't miss the weight transfer or you're fucked.

The way to prevent something like this, if he's more muscular than you... tuck your chin the instant you feel something (easy to say, of course), then throw all of your body weight on his chest, like maybe curling up, or a kip - up. do it really violently though. Not sure if that will really work.

Usually a much bigger/stronger person will use the headlock, so that dynamic has to be trained. In reality if you allow yourself to get caught like that and the attacker is an expert like a BJJ purple belt or higher or a MMA pro then you are a gonner, the real trick is to be aware and do not get in the clinch or with someone standing behind you. Always be aware and practice proper mai'ai. If you get into a headlock you aren't practicing proper mai'ai in the first place.

Whilst using one hand to pull back the opponents head using your fingers directly underneath the nose, that in its self is painful for an attacker use your other free hand to smack him in the nuts or even grab his junk simultaneously quickly straighten your back and jobs a good'n. I have practiced and proved this to be very effective and very quick and easy to execute. Keep the vids coming👍

A proper, effective rear strangle, from military methodology, contacts and then slides the hand around the neck and under the chin to prevent a chin tuck. The way it was done here was telegraphed more than even an untrained military person would do. Many of them are not that effective. The simplest thing is to use Kina Mutay where possible

OK mates, fighting produces adrenaline and the people who are holding you (in a real situation) will not be thrown as your Uke was. They do not want to go. They are attempting to hurt you. Please demonstrate with someone genuinely resisting. I enjoy the videos by the way and I also enjoy the softer/gentler martial arts. And of course by softer I do not mean less deadly.

You can't get free of any kind of lock without hitting the vitals first. You. Can't. Try this bs with any resisting opponent and you'll be crushed, no need him to be a mountain of meat, even a regular dude can't be shoven off at all if you don't strike before attempting to escape the hold.

leaving apart the last trick, others are pretty nonsense. Nobody will just hold you and stand still so that you can apply your tricks. They are going to headlock and pull behind, may be drag you down or disorient you by shaking. There isn't much you can do in that situation, until of course you are highly trained.

Enough with those rules in fighting because what really matters is how to survive and hunt those who hunt you.

well it may be better than doing nothing- in reality, street fights are too unpredictable and wild. my instinct is to start immediately attempt to rake and gouge the eyes- if i can sense and do it in time, put the attacker in the position of either maintaining the hold or painfully losing eyes, he will probably do something to let go. fight dirty. learn self defense for the streets rather than traditional martial arts, or take up something like krav maga.
