I’ve been doing landscaping since I was 13 with my dad and I see the trick everyone’s falling for, ive edged a lot with trimmers and regular edgers, if there is no pre edge at all it will be extremely difficult to move that fast and make a edge with a trimmer so once someone uses a regular blade to make a edge line & remove dirt to make a gap then a string trimmer can remake the edge but if there was no edge before then it will not come out like that✌🏻

For some reason I find it more comfortable to go backwards as well. I thought I was doing it wrong at some point in case someone is watching and I often try it forward but it seems like it takes me longer idk but I like this video and this guy makes me feel like I'm doing it right as long as it's good. I use the weed eater also to edge leaves a more defined line and I give it to Q he is definitely badass with it but his only flaw is he does to much walking back and forth when he doesn't have to and time is money but all in all don't let this young man go anywhere because he looks like he cares about his work and enjoys doing it and that's hard to find these days and he is a pro in my book

I also like to go string only, backwards on sidewalk, guard present, and away from cars and windows. Sometimes walking across so I can start at the choicest spot or just to look at something from different angle. Sometimes it looks shaggy so I will take off just a little bit to make it appear sharper.

If you’re going to walk forward, you gotta put your left hand on up top. You don’t want to be shooting all your debris toward the uncut edge, you want it discharging in the direction that’s already been trimmed. So when they say, “you can’t go forward” I think they mean, walk forward but hold the weedwhaker lefty. Obviously you know all this. Your lawns look great! Keep up the good work.
