This is outstanding advice. Coming from someone who, by some miracle, walked on to a D1 team with no guidance. 16-year-old me would have gotten a lot out of this video. An only child of two immigrant parents, neither of which went to university nor participated in organized sport..

what i do to fix my weaknesses is i stay 15-30 minutes after practice and work on them. One of my former weaknesses used to be Underwaters. I did a set about 3 times a week for 3 weeks and now i have the 2nd best underwaters on my team (not to brag but the best guy goes 19.47... Lucca Battaglini).

Great video. My daughter is just completing her sophomore year of high school swimming. She has already been contacted by 12 different D3 programs, and she would be near or at the top of their depth charts with her current times. I've been having her call and speak with those coaches just to get experience in listening to what college coaches are interested in. My question is, when she contacts D2 and D1 schools in June, as part of her story, does it make her arrogant to point out the fact that she has no other fast girls on her swim team (only 2 of our boys are faster in free and breast) and she is the fastest girl in our entire district? I mean this only to say that during races, all the way up to regionals, she has no real competition to push her to swim faster. She gets more competition during club season, but a lot of that during the spring/early summer is long course, and we have no long course pool to train in. She still has zones cut times, but we really are at a disadvantage in those areas. From my point of view, having little competition is an obvious deficit, but can we make this point without making her sound arrogant? And do you think this would be a good strategy anyways? Thanks in advance!
