What are the keys 🔑 to playing Division 1 lacrosse? 🤔
I always get asked about how to get recruited for Division 1 lacrosse, so here's 3 points every aspiring athlete must focus on:
1. Being Good Enough 💪 - It goes without saying but you have to be good enough. That's a good enough athlete, lacrosse player & student. Striving for excellence in these areas is non-negotiable.
2. Right Exposure 🌟 - Ensuring you're seen by the right people is key. Participating in premier club teams, prospect camps, and attending events where D1 coaches are present, will help expose your skills to the top coaches. You don’t have to be on the best team, but you have to be on a competitive team and at legit events.
3. Have Strong Advocates 🗣 - The path to D1 lacrosse often involves having credible people who can vouch for your character, work ethic, and potential. Your high school coach, club coach or other people who have connections and credibility who'll speak on your behalf with college coaches can make a difference. Nobody can get you recruited (or not recruited!), having advocates can get you a look, then it’s up to you to do the rest!
If you are seeking more support in increasing your recruitment prospects, we have more resources in College Lacrosse Recruiting course on our website.

Camps, consultants, private lessons, etc. Or, be a good enough athlete to walk-on and impress.

I do feel this lol… I played lacrosse from 7th-11th grade and my family was poor and I wasn’t able to do all the extra stuff like camps or play leagues other than our town youth team and our high school team

Or just stand out and play good that always works too! I’m from Syracuse New York and we have a ton of kids locally that go play division 1 lacrosse and they don’t do any of these things that you say like make sure you are on a really good team and to have connections 🤦🏼‍♂️

Thanks for your feedback - in case you missed it the first point was you have to be a good enough player!

This is actually really great advice. I have 3 young kids who love lacrosse and aspire to play college lacrosse someday. This is really great! Keep it up!

Once you get to school it’s athlete-student not student-athlete
