How To Get Rid of Fleas In Your Yard
It is important when conducting flea control treatments to not only treat your pets and your indoor living quarters but to also treat your entire yard to eliminate fleas from being a problem. It may be likely that your pets may have gotten fleas from going to the park or some place other than your yard. However, those other areas are out of your own control when it comes to flea issues, you can control fleas in your yard and we will show you how in this guide.
Treat Fleas In Your Yard
Step 1: Start With Cultural Control
You will need to do some environmental modification to make your yard less appealing for fleas to stick around. Reduce the amount of shady areas around the home by trimming tree branches and trimming hedges of your bushes, etc. Also, break out the rakes! You’re going to want to reduce as much leaf litter as possible around your home as these provide coverage and hiding places for fleas to stay out of sight. Rocks and woodpiles should be included in your clean up as well.
Mow your grass short so flea will be unable to hide in tall grass. This is also a great preventative measure after the fleas have been eliminated from your yard.
Step 2: Apply Insecticide Granules
Applying a granule insecticide are a great method of eliminating fleas in your yard. Bifen LP granules are a fantastic option and can continue to kill fleas for up to 90 days. Granules are going to need to be activated by getting it wet with insecticide spray. Apply this using a granule spreader or by hand scattering it in those main infested areas.
Step 3: Use a Quality Insecticidal Spray
You can then use an insecticidal concentrate spray to treat your yard. Using a professional insecticide concentrate and spraying it so it can penetrate at the grass and soil level where fleas most commonly develop. We recommend using Reclaim IT. This will provide an immediate knockdown of flea infestations.
Mix this concentrate in a hand or hose end sprayer, and apply to the most commonly infested areas. Those open sunny areas along with dry dusty or hard surfaces like patios and driveways have little need for spraying so please focus your spraying around the infested areas.
Step 4: Perform a Follow-up Treatment
Fleas are not an insect that can be eradicated quickly due to the four phases of developments they go through. You may kill all the adult fleas during the first application but the eggs, larvae and pupae in your yard are still alive and will soon be kicking once they hatch. Wait 10 to 14 days after the first application and reapply the products so it will kill the recently hatched fleas.
By following the steps above you can rest easy knowing that your yard will no longer have fleas bugging your pets and you. We do want to add though that treating your yard is only one part of a total flea control program. If you really want to be free from bloodsucking fleas, you have to treat your pets and indoors as well and then put into place preventative measures to reduce the likelihood of your pets getting fleas again or your home having a flea outbreak. To conduct a successful full flea control program we highly suggest ordering our Guaranteed Flea Control Kit so you have all you need to treat your pets, your home and your outdoor yard.

Would this harm livestock that would potentially eat the grass after it has been allowed to dry?

I created a homemade aerosol bomb consisting of 5% fipronil mixed 20ml of fipronil with 1L of water and made a bomb that explodes on a 30 sec timer and disperses it everywhere. Since my neighbor is a wild animal living like a troglodyte and her yard is full of junk, uncut grass, bushes, food leftovers. I chucked a few of my bombs at night over her yard in various areas and it ended the flea and cockroach problem. Now both my yard and hers is pest free.

I do too. I just load my sprayer with an oz of dish liquid and spray the dogs yard twice a month. He gets a "bath" in the hose when it's really hot outside, or he sees me spraying the yard and wants to play in water, but otherwise we just use dog flea repellent on him. edit: I watched this video because I'm interested if there are new products that don't require spread the product, wait, dry the product, hope nobody touches the product and so on.

@@caffieneaddict8716 hi, once every 10 days. The only real answer to infestation is to deny them a blood meal. Find a way to do that. It's hard to do when u have pets. Good luck

@@caffieneaddict8716 no , there not made for the inside. Use water dish with soap in it. With a small light above the dish. The heat and light from the lamp will attract the fleas into the water and hold them there.

How long does it take to dry for pets to use?
@solutionspestandlawn
@solutionspestandlawn 4 года назад
It can take several hours for product to dry, but of course that is dependent on a variety of environmental factors. Be sure the area is totally dry before letting people or pets walk around on it.

Thanks for the feedback. However.... flame throwers, hand grenades, C-4, napalm, and ultra high-density gamma rays are simply out of the question. OR ARE THEY?? There’s a wonderful place called Chernobyl and they have NO fleas anywhere and get this, NO HARMFUL PESTICIDES WHATSOEVER!!!! Grab your liberal belongings (which of course does not include deodorant) and check it out now before it’s too late!! Just here to keep you safe 👍
