Been Grinding Pet Catchers for a bit and the Sea Champion is very useful to have.
This is very early in the game release and this information will change after many updates in the future.

So basically you want to just use Legendaries and get the fishfarer charm on each one.
That increases your odds of catching each legendary.
Farm Mutant Slimes for the Mystery Scroll. Give Radioactive Jelly to add a random charm to a pet.
After getting 2. You will use the Mystery Scrolls to get the Seafarer charm. Preferably III+. You can roll V from the scrolls but it's pretty rare.
Once you get a full team. It should be pretty good.
You can buy scrolls from the Magic shop. Can get runes from the Shrine. Can set up a Shrine Team to get more runes. The Blackmarket will also sell some.
Up next would be getting a better rod. I just focused on finishing the quests for the diamond rod. I personally used the diamond rod to get the last Legendary fish from the summit.
After getting all the fish. Head back to the Sea Champion and claim it. At this point, if you have nothing better. I would try to make it shiny with the cherries. This will help a lot for free to play.
