I’m writing a 500 word story about a young boy in world war 2. The air raid siren goes off then he opens his gas mask box but there is no gas mask in it, so he runs back into the house and then a bomb drops on the house. He survives and his mother carries him to the hospital but then the hospital is full because so many people are injured. I don’t know how to end it yet but I think I want it to have an abrupt ending to show that the character died.
that idea sounds so good! maybe you could end it with a plot twist, the boy miraculously lives or the boy dies in his mothers arms but is burried next to his fathers grave?
I think that a space should open up in the hospital and the mother is so relieved. And then a short while later (for the ending) a nurse should come out and tell the mother “I’m sorry” and then thats the end.
Kelcey maybe the boy’s father disappeared when the boy was a younger and he turned out to be the doctor that helped them find a spot in the hospital. His mother might of disapproved of him with the boy’s mother and forced him to join the army where he couldn’t join cuz of his vision (glasses) and he had to volunteer for the Red Cross instead. And perhaps the boy’s father explains this to the mother while he makes a makeshift bed and treats their son. Idk or some other similar ideas to this
Idk, I've always enjoyed writing from prompts. Whenever I got a task at school to write a short story, whether in my native language or in English, prompts just unleashed my creativity. It is surprising how much *limiting* your options can have that effect on you. It is easier to start from something, anything, than just a blank page. The best part is having a prompt and bending backwards to make it something surprising. It seems there's always an obvious way of how to elaborate on it and deviating from that is SO satisfying.
I could and sometimes still can relate to this. it's hard to create short stories in one big story with a certain theme without it getting stale or even unoriginal, but watching One Piece showed me how much the mind can do in terms of creativity and anything can be a short story.
At school I’m bad with dialogue and character development and the whole ESCAPE thing you may have heard of it, but when I make my OWN stories I’m great at all those things cause it’s easier to write about something mom interested in and that’s easy to show my creativity so I guess I’m getting into writing now again
I'm pretty (ahem ahem) late but I have trouble acting on the ideas. I generate a good idea but don't have the motivation to do it, by the time I'm finally ready it's either already done or give up halfway.
@@Jordan-qi3nn Good question, follow this question to the next to get to a conflict: they were expected to be a librarian by their parents? good launch point is to ask why something doesn't make sense and make it make sense by answering questions.
I have an idea after seeing a NY Yellow Cab driving towards me one morning in the UK. It was so bizarre I had the idea that I'd flagged it down for a ride. The cab stopped to pick up other people and we all spoke and told each other our names. The other people introduced themselves as Ed, David, John and Dennis. I'm the last to be dropped off and when I ask the driver's name he turns to me and says, 'Travis'. I still need to write this story.
hello, i have enjoyed your video. i felt that it was very informative. it has given great insight into my own writing style. thank you. i also will be linking to this video in my blog as i comment and describe what i think of the video that i do end up watching here on RU-vid. thank you for your time
My english teacher told us the day before Christmas break we would have to write a short story and it would be worth about a fourth of our grade for T2. Shes giving us three days to write a rough draft and im kinda panicking rn😬
If all you´ve ever wanted is to become a writer but I don´t have any ideas or any stories I care for - should I accept it and move on? Or is it something I should work on?
You should read brothers Grimm shorts stories they are good examples but, be careful some of the stories can be really disturbing, like a lot, but i think they stablish really fast and really good the character in a few lines and even though some of them does not make any sense, they are full of unexpected plot twists.
I made this story while seeing this vid It’s called THE BOOK OF NIGHTMARES There was a girl name lavender, she was 14 and she often got bullied at school She thought of dropping out.but she some guys telling that there was a dance competition coming She did not care…. But here friend was excited because she was going to ask her crush to the dance.the day before the dance her mom said that she was going to babysit and not knowing there was a dance completion. Lavender said that she doesn’t want to baby sit but her mother said that she already said yes she was angry and went to here room and she was sad that Se is not going for the dance. Day at Dance. Lavender was sad but she had to babysit a boy named kendel her mother was coming tomorrow night. Lavender said kendel to sleep but he said I don’t wanna sleep, lavender said why not are you scared? N-no said kendel Then what go to sleep, I DONT WANT to sleep why Because I get night-mares To be continued
Hey, I am struggling to jot down a short story on a husband and a wife who were traveling in a car at the late hour of the night. They were going back to their home after attending the marriage ceremony of her cousin. The husband said to her wife that we could stay in a hotel and would go back to our home at the morning. But she insisted on getting back home as she had a lot of work to be done there. After moving a bit the car stopped itself. They tried every possible thing to start the car but all in vain. Now I have no idea how to take this story forward. Any ideas?
help! i'm good at technica lstuff and all but im stuck on getting an idea for my short movie that i have to make in a year. i just cant get any idea on a solid story !
I wanted to make a story about a child murder (a child that's a murder) but I didn't know what exactly what I wanted to do. Now I have a simple idea and I'm going to build onto it. It's going to take awhile cause I love adding lots of details! This might not be a short story tho....
I really like your videos! I would really like to know your opinion on flash fiction. Is it a lesser form of fiction on virtue of how short it is? I would be really interested in your thoughts.
Thank you so much it really helped and will so be telling my best friend about this (and yes I has friends) although what is a prompt (just because my English isn’t that good) thx sm xxx
I 😅 love 💘 writing ✍ stories 😀, especi typing stories on my laptop 💻. I usually type these series of stories called The Oh Snap Convention 😅. In The Oh Snap Convention 😅 series 😀, me and my little brother Joseph 😢 go on wacky adventures with this actor named Dev Patel. Every story is a new adventure. What adventure should we go on next? Any ideas?
Ok help me, I have a tomboy, Adventuristic, Women who has a very formal family who believes that women should be house wives and stuff like that. I have the setting too, Somewhere like you know the movie merida? That type of setting if you know what I mean. I just need a plot twist so could anyone help me out?
Helpful advice, but I think it's stressful when you edited out every single pause from your video. Especially so for a Scandinavian ;) I hope that you've learned to make good use of the pause in your newer videos!
Hellooo? Anybody there? lol I've tried thinking and it's just not working out lmao My brain is not creative AT ALL and my assignment is past due. haha if you have a story where the characters are non-human, lemme know pls
@@allsies7890 ok, had been thinking of a more elaborate one but if you need a non-human main character... Pixie. Short story about animal breeders who breed a monkey smart enough to profess a faith in God. Does the monkey go to heaven? (From the Pixie's song of course...) Short and sweet, room for a subtle serious theme on the "mechanics" of religion.
Simplified! Make character (O.c I think) Where is your O.c? If there's more than one what's there relationship? Conflict (oh no.!) Form (who what is telling or acting the story?) Prompt (inspiration guess) Now...start writing!
A 'character type' can be any sort of vague but familiar quality to begin from, including profession! Or, it could include actual character archetypes, if that's something you find useful.
Yes, I'd consider an archetype more of an actual 'type'. Profession is simply a character attribute and doesn't really speak to the nature of a character.
