What the point of shiny hunting anymore. Next year you be able to transfer shiny pokemon to bdsp. And with getting 20+ shinys every community day. I know on in my po-home account I have at least 1 shiny of each pokemon.
@@Aus10Ham yeah I don't shiny hunt, because I have a shiny verison of every pokemon already. It's nice, not having to worry about it and put in that extra time and effort.
@@Aus10Ham what he’s saying is what is the point if they are all handed to you anyways. Especially since the event Pokémon they usually give you are high IVS and hidden abilities as well. You argument is valid, but he’s just stating the facts. It kinda sucks that shiny Pokémon aren’t as impressive anymore.
@@Reliztik82 unfortunately shinies have been in the games for decades now, personally I decided to leave my shinies in the bank and not transfer them to make for more shiny grinds in the game currently out
I just got Spiritomb myself before the 3rd badge. And the impression I got is: every route has their fixed NPC which shows up nearly every time, but every route also has a small chance of spawning literally anyone else. The big symmetrical area below Oreburgh has the NPC spawns close to entrances, so it's great for grinding, I found like 20 NPCs around there, but it's not otherwise special. I could find upwards to 10 different NPCs on a less efficient grinding spot that's right below where Spiritomb is. So what I would recommend you do: - Keep track of everyone you meet on a notepad. You won't remember if an NPC is new or not otherwise. - Patrol through the entire underground that you can explore talking to everyone you see, finding as many easy fixed NPCs as possible. (optional) - Go below Oreburgh where the big grassy area is, and grind for NPCs there, find NPC, go through door, go back in route, repeat until you've met 32. This will likely take a few hours so put on your favorite podcast. - Go fight Spiritomb and hopefully you'll get a Shiny for your effort.
Thank you so much I'm going to try this. I was convinced certain npcs were on fixed routes this comment has given me hope. Edit: Update - I got Spiritomb with 3 badges, grinding under Oreburgh helped a lot, thanks again.
@@chrisweskamp9466 No, Pokemon games generally don't have mechanics that reset when you save and quit. Saving the game saves basically everything. The Spiritomb mechanic in particular is designed to be worked on slowly throughout the game. It makes no sense for the count to reset when quitting the game.
thanks for such an in depth comment, i definitely want to play through the game with a shiny spiritomb for sure, regardless of how long it will take :/ good luck on your shiny quests
This is the worst. I’ve been in the underground for 3 hours and I’ve only found 20 unique npc’s. Every time I see Dillon I want to drop kick him unit he bleeds out.
You can use Dream Radar to get a Spritomb after you beat the entire game. You can skip days in the application to make the procedure a whole lot easier to do.
Spiritomb was going to be on my team and now knowing it’s easy I’m definitely doing it. Congrats on the shiny!!! I was not expecting that and thought it was clickbait
@@AustinJohnPlays question: have or would you post a somewhat complete list of npcs you and others you've been talking with so that way others who want Spiritomb can sorta keep a better track of who they have and haven't interacted with?
This a true example of hard work paying off. This dude spent multiplr hours writing and studying data on nics in the undergroundand got a shiny Spiritomb out of it. Nice work
If I remember correctly, there is an odd keystone in your hometown. If you surf across the tiny pond at the bottom of the map, and try to interact with one of the trees, there was a hidden odd keystone item in the old games.
I noticed this too but didnt think much of it I assumed interacting people in the underground was like mining with them or walking by them or something. This is amazing how quickly you figured this out.
Huge congrats on the shiny spiritomb, it looks so good in 3D! This was actually my last shiny hunt in platinum I did before BDSP dropped, and it shined underodds in 5572 on the Thursday morning before launch! Such an incredible shiny, but I don't think I'll be rehunting it in BDSP. With the massive black screen each reset I'll be saving the reset hunts for all the legends for sure.
I actually did the grinding personally in the Grand Underground while having 2 badges and am currently doing a hunt for shiny Spiritomb today. At 265 and counting so far but nothing yet. Update: I found and caught him at 821 Resets on my Brilliant Diamond just recently!
Literally was just looking for videos on how to get Spiritomb when I looked at my phone and saw the notification that AJP posted a video. easily the most reliable source on Pokemon stuff! Thanks for the info!!!
One method for searching for npc’s: When your in an area with a common npc, keep loading that area till you find at least 2 or 3 different npc’s(they can be npc’s you’ve seen before)then you go to the next area, rinse and repeat. That’s basically how i found them all, you also should use a map for the underground that tells you where each common npc is so you know which is common and which is different/rare. Good luck to anyone searching 👍🏾 Edit: also remember to write the npc names down on a list, in case you forget, i write 31 of them down and checked the hallow tower to find that I forgot about an npc i found and the tower made a spirit tomb.
I just did something similar! I was a dunce and wrote the same name twice (I just didn’t realize because it was a different zone) and now I am off by one 😬
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I saw a few names on your photoshopped image I didn’t have in areas I had already searched. I knew if you had found a Ronn in a certain section then eventually I would too. Thank you!! Naming my Spititomb Liticia because I saw her about 200 times when looking for my last couple of NPCs
UPDATE: I had 3 gym badges Bc I needed fly to do this reasonably and it took 2.5 days playing for around 4 hours each to get 32 unique npcs by going in and out of caverns over and over incase anyone was thinking of doing it very early on.
Thank you for being like the only person to make a legitimate guide on this. The amount of people pumping out videos saying "talk to 32 people online underground" is insane
Fortunately, this Pokémon can breed, and many people already caught it in sword and shield. It's likely that most people who get it won't be using the method from this game.
@@kereminde I know the pain, apparently there was a certain few catchphrases for it to work, I got my Feebas, trying to get it MAX beauty was a tough one as I didn't have the berries for it, but it was 150% worth it!
Congratulations mah man, you deserve that shiny after all the effort you've put in, love the work you do for these games and greatly appreciate you ❤ 💙 ♥
I'm sure this has been answered already but: RUNNING FROM OR KO'ING SPIRITOMB DESPAWNS IT AND MAKES YOU HAFTA DO THE 32 NPC'S AGAIN! So you DO hafta do full resets to shiny hunt.
I found an Odd Keystone in your home city right after getting surf . . . If you surf the pond on the bottom , and keep spamming A while surfing it , I found it on the mid left spamming A while surfing . The more you know .
By far the best Pokémon channel on RU-vid. Thanks for putting out all this fantastic content right on release, and props on the shiny, it’s much deserved!!
After a few hours of looking for npcs with two badges im at 24 so far! I can also say for sure that ive found npcs at places not listed here (for instance i found one named harper in the area listed for teena on the map shown at 5:02). Definitely a grind but seems possible with only two badges. Hopefully the grind of the shiny hunt wont be too painful
As soon as I saw the shiny spiritomb I jumped out of my bed as if it was my Pokémon 😂 Shiny well deserved austin keep up the good content we appreciate it 🙏
One day a turtle lost his shell. He looked all over for it before finally realizing he was not the brightest turtle because he was still inside it. He laughed, pointed to his back, and said 4:39
The surprise on his face was priceless when he encountered that shiny Spiritomb. 😂🤣 As he was just talking about shiny hunting it and wondering if he could do the run method. That made my day. Talk about spoke too soon. 😂🤣
I've watched this so many times. Have 3 badges and the message about tower is shaking. I'm methodically going through the underground, but struggling to find the last few NPCs.
Can confirm that it does count the npcs that you talk to prior to putting in the odd keystone. Because when I first began the game i was talking to as many NPCs as i saw and as soon as i I put in the keystone, it said the third statement, "Is that crying coming from inside the tower" so it did count the npcs i spoke to prior to putting in the keystone because otherwise it would have said the 1st statement. Anyway now im in postgame and its at the 2nd to last statement, " There is some sort of presence... it appears ready to emerge!" Didnt think it was going to take this long but i guess it doesnt count the same ones that happen to spawn in a different area if you already talked to that npc but in post game you see more especially in the battle resort area. I think thats why many ppl say post game because by then it likely when most get it. It would be doable at the 2nd gym but it would take a lot of time as Austin John says. Better off to put the keystone in and everytime you are underground speak to any npc you see but no need to rush to look for all 32 if your still in the pre game as it would take alot of time. By the time you get to post game and speak to as many as you see throughout your adventure, then you should be close to getting it to spawn. Cynthia has a spirtomb so no need to worry about dex purposes already completed the sinnoh dex, right after i beat the league and got my national
Getting my favourite dark type (Spiritomb) would be so amazing to have so early in game. But bruh, spending 5-10 hours would take me around half a week to get spiritomb. Let alone getting a shiny with 1/4000+ chance of getting.
You have to find the odd keystone in the underground first. All I did was dig up one of those, then talked to all the NPCs all over the. Map which you probably need the whole map for...
While digging for mystery shards in the underground. I dug up a second odd keystone. I never used the first one because I'm not a huge fan of spiritomb. Now I have the chance to get two of them.
Hey Austin your info helped me alot but after doing these steps myself I found that some of the people that aren't fixed are random. I think that the save file a game has determines the rare NPC in an area. Thank you for helping me with this process nonetheless and congrats on the shiny.
After doing a bit of researching on this as well (yea, 8 months later), it seems like each area has at least 2 different NPCs that can spawn in place of the common one thats more frequent than others. Already up to the 22-28 range after a good 45 minutes from my first starting point of the 8-14 range (dont have a definite count atm as I didn't realize it was NPC based, or even player based in the original versions) by switching which areas I am going into and leaving for the chance of one of the rarer NPC spawns
I hope at one point there’s a map made to show what NPCs can spawn in what sections Of the underground I’m currently at 14 npcs all with diffrent names
