Another thing that I forgot to mention...gestures (very important) ...take note of all the swipe, pinch, touch, hold, zoom gestures, etc. ...that we all currently are familiar with in everyday apps, you want to apply these techniques to your personal projects. Because your personal projects are static images, you just have to be able to talk through these gestures as your explaining your design. 👍

This is a good way to start! I nearly started the same way back in university. Having worked as a UI designer for 8 years, I'd recommend reading through the Material Design guidelines to get to the next level. It's made by Google and makes reference to other mobile OS components.

Yup, reading through Google Material Design documentation is essential when designing with their framework/os 👍

Mike, people keep asking you the same question: "What do you need to get a Job in UX/UI and Product Design?" It is the same answer: "Build a portfolio of projects (even personal fictitious projects)." This portfolio is documentation that a candidate can SHOW in interview conversations. Documentation beats Conversation every time. The portfolio (documentation) beats the interview (conversation). Question in the Interview: "Can you do this job?" Candidate's Answer: "Yes, please, look at my portfolio of work." Drop-The-Mic.

💯 ...Juan, it’s as simple as saying do what you have to do to erase any doubts (that the recruiter or hiring manager may have) that you can do the job. Having an amazing portfolio (body of work) is one of the best ways to start that process ;)

Great advice mike the redesigned app is the same process?
@MikeLocke
@MikeLocke 3 года назад
Roie Shalom - yup, same everything, you’re just designing in different dimensions. With mobile your constrained to a certain box 📦 (ie the dimensions of the phone version you have, they keep changing each version that comes out)

is your subscription platform the same thing as your one time fee course? If not how do they differ?
@MikeLocke

My membership includes my course that I once sold separately but also includes all my other lessons (over 150+) that I’m adding new lessons to weekly.

How about in web apps mike? And Is it true that web apps are more complicated process and design than i mobile apps?
@MikeLocke
@MikeLocke 3 года назад
jan O. - web apps can be more complicated than mobile but at then end of the day, they feel the same to me. You have to design, solve for problems, designing in the right resolution (browsers), go through a very similar development process in terms of handing off designs and Devs doing the work, at the end of the day, your designing for different platform but for me, it’s the same effort / work / time, etc.

mike, what qualifications do you need to have in order to get a UX internship?
@MikeLocke
@MikeLocke 3 года назад
Vaibhav Shivalkar - For internships, you just need to show your dedication to the discipline. For example, companies want to see you’ve been training or at least doing this work for a year or so. A strong portfolio, strong people skills (interviewing) and knowing someone at a company would go a long way. At the end of the day, having a strong portfolio can get you into places
