I am Google IT Support Professional Certfied and I can actually say that it is a great Certification to get basi IT knowledge, for me it is the best starting point.
Great video. I just finished the IT Support certification. I've been a truck driver for the past 10 years, but working with computers is my passion. A of mine was developing software, but I've learned that coding is my weakness so far. I have intermediate experience with troubleshooting and hardware. I'm having trouble deciding between Software Development, Systems Admin, and Cybersecurity. Any advice on choosing between the 3?
It depends a little bit on your personal interests, but Cybersecurity will be a great long-term option that pays well and will offer a lot of different roles within Cybersecurity. On the sysadmin side of things it is good for long-term as well, but cloud and AI add some unknowns to the mix. Cloud is definitely the right approach for you, but I would expect some changes in that area.
Is it possible to enter the IT Help Desk/Support role without doing the hardware/repair stuff? I find that even though I learned about that stuff, actually repairing the hardware aspects of PCs probably isn’t my thing. I think I’d be my geared towards remote cust service and trouble shooting.
Yes, absolutely - but don't let this scare you away. Focus on software applications and the operating system. If you become a subject matter expert for a challenging software package, know how to use it, troubleshooting, installations, etc - you can carve out a niche that opens even more doors down the road.

Either one works and a lot of the content is overlapping. I would probably start with the Google Certificate as you will not have to pay separate exam fees and it allows you to go after Comptia with more confidence.
